Wheaton Animal Hospital Reviews (2)

When Dr. [redacted] saw [redacted] her diagnosis and recommendations also included a dental cleaning with likely extractions to resolve Milton’s oral disease. The estimate she provided also outlined those costs. At the conclusion of the exam and diagnosis discussion, the agreement was that you would...

administer the new food along with the prescribed antibiotics, monitor the situation, consider the dental work, and update Dr. [redacted] after one week if [redacted] was not improving. Dr. [redacted] never heard from you. We have received and reviewed the notes from the second vet and understand that [redacted] developed fatty liver disease due to lack of eating. This condition was not present at the time Dr. [redacted] saw Milton. The second vet also performed the recommended dental work which seemed to provide some improvement initially. Prior to anesthesia and surgery, we always strongly recommend bloodwork to determine whether any conditions exist or issues are present. We do this in order to ensure that surgery is the best course of action. We believe we provided the correct advice based on the symptoms [redacted] presented at the time we saw him and we were not given the opportunity to provide any additional course of action.

When a client determines to obtain a second opinion, we completely understand that is their prerogative. However, whether it be animal or human medicine, when a person decides to visit a second physician, it does not eliminate the need to cover the costs for visiting the first physician. Cats that aren't eating will do so for a variety of reasons, including reasons that can be ruled out by abdominal radiographs. In this case, [redacted] was also urinating outside of the litter box, which can be caused by bladder stones, which could have been contributing to his off behavior. It is our responsibility to take every precaution and ensure that we can rule out or take into account and address any and all medical issues that may be present. Therefore, we stand by our need to take x-rays and the cost for that test must be covered and will not be refunded. It is our sincere hope that [redacted] has now fully recovered and you have found a veterinarian with whom you are comfortable communicating.Tell us why here...
