Whispering Lake Apartments Reviews (29)

To Whom May Be Concerned:I had made a complaint through the Revdex.com.  My ID# [redacted].Please find photos I submitted to [redacted] and managers at Whispering Lake Apartments.  This was the last issue and complaint before moving out without receiving a response from Whispering Lake Apartments.I issue...

numerous emails with pictures before moving.I also asking to be refunding $6,0000 for all expenses. I'm sure [redacted] can provide you with all the emails and photographs that lead to my departure.  Rat   Pills throughout the unit, police reports regarding a 50+ male bamming on my door for my daughter; maintenance guy, Clyde, parked on the side of my patio watching my daughter until she came to get me;  a report on how I went to a doctors appointment, came back, door was open and dog done; over a year to fix a leakage in my room, which caused my TV to no longer operate and major water damage to my dresser.  The floor in my bedroom was over five feet in width, in water soaked and left that way for over several months to dry on its on; smell with mildew odor in that room, made it unbearable to sleep in.  Had not slept in my room for several months because of the smell.  And Rats and trash all around my unit.  Plenty of photos to show. I had provided several emails and photos to [redacted] and managers before I left for my safety and my daughters.  I tried for months for mist issues to be resolved but they were ignored.  That when I decided there were no use of communicating or rake endless photos if I wanted to survive.  I refuse to dwell in a unit under those conditions. Also I would like this unfair situation off my personal credit report. I will like to be reimbursed for mental abuse, my TV, my dressing, moving fee, unable to sleep in the master's bedroom for several months.  $6,000.  Also for the water, sewage and trash serve in the months I was not there to use the serves. This resident came to my office with a friend and complained that the electric bill was almost $300, the resident asked for compensation and...

it was because the air conditioning wouldn't shut off. I explained to the resident that unfortunately we would not be able to compensate the rent for something we were unaware that was malfunctioning. As soon as we were aware, we fixed the air conditioning issue. The Property Manager explained that it is the responsibility of the resident to report any malfunctions in the apartment. Also, before the resident moved in the apartment was inspected by the City of Blackjack and passed inspection, the resident was also given an inventory and condition form to fill out upon move in to note any issues or malfunctions in the apartment after move in. There was nothing noted about the a/c on the form, in fact there was only one item noted on the form altogether. As far as the sink is concerned, on 9/28/15 the issue of the bathroom sink not draining and leaking was report, maintenance went to the apartment and fixed the issue. On 10/1 there was a report of a hole under the sink that needed filled, that was taken care of. Then on 10/5 there was a report of a leak in the bath sink that happened again. Maintenance came right over and determined that the sink was cracked and we would have to order a new sink top. The resident was informed. On 10/15/15 the sink top was installed.
We do apologize for any inconveniences the resident may have encountered.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/10/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
For something to not be done about a faulty ac untit that should have been inspected once we moved in is not my fault., if your inspection showed that everything was up to date and working properly how would you over look the ac unit. It's just so happen it breaks during the time we move in. If we kelp our thermostat between 62-65 how would we know it's broken if it never got to cold or to hot in the house. And speaking of the bathroom sink if on September 28,2015, October 1, 2015 and 10th the maintenance knew that the sink was leaking why would did they keep patching it up? That doesn't make sence you would think they would've fixed the issue the first time considering they informed us about is each time they came over that we had a crack in the sink. And no as of Oct 15,2015 4:30 pm my sink was completely removed because the maintence said they have to order a part.so no it's still not fixed.

Ms. [redacted] moved in on May 17, 2016 at which time she signed a lease agreement which included a Bed Bug Addendum.  The Bed Bug Addendum states, in Paragraph 9 that if bed bugs are confirm, which they were confirmed by a licensed pest control company, that you may be required to pay all reasonable...

costs of cleaning and pest control treatments incurred by us to treat your Premises for bed bugs and any other dwelling units infested as a result of you or your failure to notify. The statement received by Ms. [redacted] will not be modified and she is responsible for those charges.

We received an emergency maintenance call on Saturday afternoon from the resident stating her heat didn't work. Maintenance arrived within...

a timely manner. They were unable to fix it at the time because they needed a part. He spoke with the residents and made them aware of the situation. Unfortunately heat goes out at any time, we try to be prepared for all situations but didn't have the specific part she needed. The maintenance tech was able to get the part on Sunday and resolved the tenants issue within 24 hours of the issue. Maintenance went to the apartment and spoke with the residents and the heat was blowing. As to our knowledge the heat is working.

I am rejecting this response because: it is not truthful and I have photos to back up my claims. I was listed an occupant on the lease and I paid rent. My sister and I expect a full refund! I was harassed on numerous occasions and the lease was wrongfully terminated because the other person involved no longer lived on the property. I have additional photos but it will not let me upload the rest. Whispering lake is wrong and have over charged for the minor damages listed! Washable marker and crayon designed for windows is not $115!!! There was no feces on the carpet either!!! I did not have a dog after they made me get rid of the puppy wayyyyyyyyy before my daughter turned one!!! The charges are ridiculous and excessive!!!! That is the problem!!! I have no problem paying for the repair of the wall, them taking out the trash, and washing off the glass. But the carpet needed to be replaced and the binds I asked to be replaced because there was an issue with the window getting stuck! They never fixed the door in the bathroom, the water leak in the roof, the dangerous balcony, or the cabinets!!! The cabinets did not get fixed until they fell on me!!! I asked for numerous repairs that never occurred!!! There is only a small section of the master bedroom wall that needs to be repainted! They can spray paint it like they did the ceiling that had water damage that I asked them to fix! They are being outrageous and I am standing up for myself! I am not letting them bully me into paying for stuff I did not do and overcharging me for the minor damages and normal wear and tear from living there all that time!
Sincerely,
[redacted] and [redacted]

All issues that Ms. [redacted] reported were addressed.  Except for her allegations of "rats" and the trash in the dumpster areas, because she never reported them prior to her moving out and never reported this type of issue in the 2 years she had lived at Whispering Lake.  The charges for Ms. [redacted] will stay the same as she did not give a proper notice to move out, she broke her lease and her carpet was contaminated with pet urine.Whispering Lake is not responsible for any issues Ms. [redacted] had with her daughter and by signing the lease for the apartment she moved into she agreed to occupy that unit and viewed the unit prior to move in.

Ms. [redacted], informed the office that there was a hole in her wall from a squirrel. This was during 4 days of flash flooding and...

constant rain. She lives on the 3rd floor. The hole was covered by sheet metal on the inside temporarily until the issue could be addressed on the exterior of the building. The resident was informed that we would be able to make repairs on the outside when it stopped raining. Ms. [redacted] was ok with the plan that was given to her at that time. The Property Manager also asked her why she never reported hearing anything so that we could have made attempts to solve the issue prior to an actual hole in the drywall, the resident stated that she thought it was outside since April. As far as the history on the unit, there was one other issue, which was also addressed. We did not offer Ms. [redacted] another unit, because we do not have another 2 bedroom apartment available until the middle of January. Ms. [redacted] came into the office on Dec. 31st and made it very clear she did not want to live in her apartment or any other apartment in Whispering Lake. The Property Manager let Ms. [redacted] know that she was unable to make the determination to release her from her lease, that my Regional Manager, whom she already had emailed the day prior, would be able to make that decision. The Property Manager told her that she would reach out to the Regional Manager to ask if we could let her out of her lease. When he determined that we would, the Property Manager immediately called Ms. [redacted] on December 31, 2015 and told her that she would be released from her lease agreement and that she would be responsible for the rent for the days she occupied the unit. She said ok and she would have her keys in before the month of January was up.
Our sincere apologies are extended to Ms. [redacted] for the issue she has experienced.

I am unable to upload photos, but would be happy to send them to the Revdex.com via email.  Whispering Lake will not be reducing any of the charges. The charges are reasonable and are the same charges we use for all move out.

As stated previously Whispering Lake will not be adjusting any charges on the move out statement.
