White Sands Pool Plastering Reviews (%countItem)

The work at first was beautiful but the tiles have been falling off and need full replacement. I tired of being cast aside, it's been a year. Fix what's wrong. You won't honor your warranty

Pool surface was resurfaced by white sands. They agreed it was subpar and agreed to fix problem areas. Pool was drained and work has not been done.
White sands was contracted to resurface pool and replace existing tile in October 2019. After completing, the drain from the spa was clogged with debris from the resurfacing job. In an attempt to clear the pipes, white sand pour acid into the spa and left it for 5 days. The acid eroded large areas of the resurfacing in the spa and pool. pictures and complaints were sent to white sands, they agreed it needed to be fixed. They decided the best course of action would be to drain the pool. After draining the pool, white sands fixed about half of the problem areas on the surface of the pool and left stains in spa and pool. For 2 weeks, nobody has returned to complete the job, have not answered the phone or returned calls, text or emails.

Desired Outcome

Complete the job as promised. Finish repairing the terrible resurfacing job and remove stains left on the surface.

White Sands Pool Plastering Response • Feb 19, 2020

When the work was done the service tech was told not to fill the pool that her husband would check the work and fill the pool. We have returned and resolved all issues and pool is full now.

Job remains unfinished. Clogged jet line. No one from the office or the project manager returns calls to resolve the issue.
From the very beginning, White Sands Pools demonstrated poor communications. They started the job without any notice. Because we were not able to pay for the pool, it remained drained for almost four months. Onsite work was sloppy - overspray onto new travertine deck and lanai posts, framing left in yard, chucks of concrete scattered on side yard. The job has now been completed and we are happy with the new surface and tile. However, a jet line is clogged. This jet operated properly before the new skimmer went in. The situation was called in to the project manager and a ticket created with the office manager in early December. At this point, someone was supposed to have inspected it (12/19/19), but it is still clogged and my phone calls have not been returned to discuss the matter.

Desired Outcome

I would like for White Sands to schedule a time when I can be home in order to meet onsite to fix the gurgling line.

Gary is working with Mr. to find and address the issue.

Pool was refinished and paid for. Stains have appeared on the surface and response has been dismal.
We signed a contract with White Sands to have our pool resurfaced on January 31, 2019. The work was completed a month or so later. We recently noticed some staining on the pool surface and contacted White Sands to voice our concerns. I called White Sands on July 8 and spoke to one of the dispatchers. Shortly into the conversation she attempted to blame my misuse of chemicals for the staining even though no one had even seen stains. She basically stopped mid-sentence and no longer pursue that Avenue of discussion.

On July 9 a service technician from White Sands came out to my residence and again tried to blame me for the stains in the pool saying we must have acid washed our deck and the chemicals got onto the steps. I told him we did not acid wash the deck and had followed all instructions provided by White Sands after the pool was resurfaced.

On July 10 another technician came out to try to buff out the stains on the pool surface. He used a pressure washer and scuba equipment. He was unable to remove any of the stains. The pressure washer ended up putting blue stains on our deck.

I again called and asked for someone to come out and take a look at the blue stain. The same technician came out on July 16 and said he had spilled blue stain in his work truck which had gotten onto his shoes. His shoes were used underneath the pressure washer so as not to damage the deck. The blue dye from the shoes is what stained the deck. He attempted to pressure wash the stains and could not and in ended up removing more of the paint from the deck. When we discussed the situation he did his best to cover up the additional damage with his foot and thought I did not notice.

On that same date I contacted White Sands again and voiced my concerns about the blue stain, the additional damage to the deck and the fact that the stains on the pool surface remained. I had been told earlier that my concerns would be "moved to the top of the list" but this was not the case. I was also told by a person at White Sands that now my concerns were null and void.

Desired Outcome

I would like the stains removed or the steps resurfaced. The long striated stain on the bottom of the pool I can live with, but should receive a monetary appearance allowance. The deck area should be repainted by White Sands.

We have spoken to *** and have set up for the rep from the manufacturer to go out and take a look at his pool to give his opinion on the stains.

Customer Response • Aug 15, 2019

White Sands did correct the issue and Garry was very apologetic and helpful. The factory rep determined the issue and Garry fixed it. It is good to know they stand behind their work. Only advice would be to be more careful around the deck and enclosure as both were damaged at one point.

Complaint ID#

In Spring 2015 White Sands Pool Plastering was engaged by our pool contractor, Bay Area Enterprises, to re-plaster our pool and spa for the price of $6,000. In 2018 we decided to replace the waterline pool tile. When the pool was drained multiple plaster bubbles (the result of the pre-plaster preparation being done incorrectly) were revealed requiring the pool to be completely re-plastered. The cost of refinishing the pool with Pebble Tech was $7,400.00.

We attempted to file a complaint about the defective plaster work with the Revdex.com, but although the defect was only recently discovered, the Revdex.com has a one-year limit on complaint filing, so the complaint was denied for this reason. In the course of submitting information to the Revdex.com and exchanging communications with White Sands owner Kevin L, he agreed that pre-plaster preparation had been applied thick enough, and that his job supervisor would not have applied the plaster if the pre-plaster step was not done properly. Nevertheless, Mr. L maintains that the defective plaster application was the responsibility of my contractor.

We warn all potential customers to hire this company at their own risk. Their crews are not qualified to work anywhere near a pool. They were eager to be paid in full, but far less concerned with the quality of their work, which speaks for itself. Their guarantee makes good bathroom wallpaper. Caveat Emptor.

After making me to wait 2 months to reface my pool, the day that they have to drain it, they call and says they can't because tiles price was triple.
John parents was the sale representative. Came to my house on 05/15/2018. I just notice contract date shows 2017. That was a mistake. All the dates that I am going to mention are from text messages on my cell phone.

On 05/15/2018, he told me that I can search for pool tiles on NTP (National Pol Tile) and Baystoon Tile.

On 05/23/2018, I told him that the one that I wanted was MAR 35 which was under Martinique and the color was royal blue. It is a waterline tile.

On 05/28/2018, I told him that I just want to make sure that Satin Matrix Northshore tahoo pebbles and the MAR 35 tiles will be $5208.00

On 05/29/2018 he answered me and told me that resurfacing was $5208 and for the tiles was $1462.00. He also agree that the price was covering fix cracks behind the tiles. He states all taxes and labor are included. A total of $6670.00 was the total.

On 06/30/2018 he told me to sing and date the attached contract and sent a photo to him, so he can forward it to the company. He states, I may have to wait about 3 to 5 weeks
for them to do the Job. I did it on 07/04/2018. On that day, I told him I want to add steps markers swirl in blue.

On 07/05/2018 he told me that the blue tiles that I coose will look better if I change to the Chilean Beach Pebbles. Later on, I agree and asked him to make the change. It would not impact the Price.

On 07/07/2018, he told me the swirl pattern was not longer available and it was verry expensive. I told him I was them on internet for $42.00. He insisted they were discontinued althought they still on the web site.

I called a company that I found on internet and ask about thw swirl step marker. They said it still on the market and they are expensive. I ask him if he really has it and he put me in hold to call the warehouse to doble check. He states they have plenty of the. If that company info is needed I can check for the paper in which I wrote those notes. I didn't say anithin to John because I was not willing to pay for it.

He offers me to cut tiles from the wall tile that I choose to be 3x3 to use them like diamods desing on pool steps, and it was for free. On 07/07/2018, I ask John if we can use MAR 235 which was a 2x2 that matches the tile that I had for the pool wall, so they don't have to pend time cutting them and it may be less expensive. He ask me to wait until Monday to speak to the office to see if it was possible.

On 07/11/2018, he says they will use the waterline tile and cut it 3x3 and that I have to wait up to 8 weeks from day of contract to start the Job.

At the biggining of September they called me and told me they were ready to start the job. I ask the lady who called me if she has the right tile and right color, she confirm the tile but states the pebble color was never changed and if I changed I will be changing the contract And it may cost more. She asked me to speak to John. John told me it was no extra cost.

On the day that they were going to drain the pool. They called me and told me they cannot drain it because they just find that the waterline tile that I choose was a premuim tile and they cannot do the job for the price on the contract unless I agree to pay extra. I had to call John and he told me that tiles was three time or twice the price that he quoted for the tile, but didn't give a specific price. I ask him why he wait until know to check the price of the tile. It was something that I ask him from the bigginin more than 2 months ago. All that he says was I am sorry, I tought you choose one from the catalog that I gave you. That is not a valid excuse. He gave me 2 pool tiles company names because I didn't like the tiles on catalogue. I ask him for the tile price before submitting the contract. I told him being sorry cannot solve my problem.

Desired Outcome

I want them to do the job with the lifetime warranty that company offer for peebles, as offered by John. To use the MAR 35 tile for the waterline. To use the MAR235 for the pool steps on a diamond angle for free as offered by John. I want them to honor the price on contract $6670.00 including taxes and fees given by John. John has to learn that when some one does business they have to be more serious and responsible about Prices. White Sands, has to be more responsible for their sales representative mistakes and learn to assume lost as part of their business, if needed.

White Sands Pool Plastering Response • Oct 15, 2018

At the time that the proposal was signed she did not pick her tile. She was given two tile stores to go look at tile that was in her budget standard tile when she went to the tile store she choose premium tile that was not in the budget. She also added markers tiles that were not part of the proposal. Once she filled in the tile that she choose and sent it to the office she was told that it was not standard tile and we will have the sales rep call with the updated price. We will be more that happy to do the job if she either pays for the upgraded tile or chooses a standard tile.

Customer Response • Oct 21, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As I explain before, on 05/23/2018, I told him that I want MAR 35 . On 05/28/2018, I asked him that I want to be sure that satin matriix northshore tahoo and MAR tile were $5,208.00. On 05/29/2018 he answered me and told me that$5208 was for resurface and 1462.00 was for the tile. It was later on, 06/30/2018 when I sent the contract and he forward it to the company as same as I attached to this file earlier. The swirl patter was something extra to the original price. That is not questionable. I was willing to pay for it, if he gave me a reasonable price, but he says it was discontinue. I ask him for the tile price earlier, on May, and that was before we submitt the contract. The contract price was subject to change, if I use the swirl steps. Resurface and Tile price was not questionable.
It is true that John told me that the first two pages of the catalogue were for free, but I didn't like the. He gave me the name of two aditional companies and after I choose one tile from them, I have no way to know if it was the same price, or higher. That is why I gave him the tile name and ask him for price on May. It was his fault, not to search for the price at that time. It was his fault to think that it was a tile from the first two pages of the catalogue. Since, I ask for the price and he confirm it, I took it for granted.
I understand the company wants to believe his employee, but I can proof all of this because they are save on my text messages. I am willing to provide access to the Bureau, if they need to see it. Before you say something else, I suggest you to ask Mr. John to release all the text message between us, so you can have a better understanding.
I don't need that you do my pool, but I need that you learn and understand that you have to be responsible for your employees mistake. Is that a normal practice for you company to wait until the day of the service to increase the price? You have to be more serious and responsible when you do business. It shows lack of ethic, lack of credibility, lack of honesty, and it should not be considered as a serious company.

Jarrett our manager will be reaching out to*** today to come to a agreement. I feel like this is just going back and forth.

Customer Response • Nov 09, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I choose no to the business proposal resolution because I don't want that you close it without giving me the opportunity to write a satisfactory statment after they finish the job. The Company offer to do the job with the same materials, tiles and life waranty as they originally Contract. They are going to do the job for the original price plus they offer a $500.00 discount. I am going to acept it. We have an appointment on Monday to make a new contract. I would like to wait until they finish the job, so I can write a nice and satisfactory statemt to their business. I understand that my complaint can damage the company reputation and they can loose business, if I don't provide that satisfactory stament. I think that would be fair.

Great job, wonderful crews, quality abounds. We had a surfacing that, after 13 years, and a potential screw up from our pool cleaning company had to be redone. Jarrett from White Sands came to review our situation and reluctantly showed us areas that were de-laminated, etc. He offered us a very attractive price, and I agreed, with one stipulation. Our grand daughter was to have a 14 yr old pool party at our house in 4 weeks, and the pool needed to be completed by the Friday before the party. It was nip and tuck for a while, the weather didn't cooperate, but Jarrett and crews pulled through, working late the last couple of days to ensure that we had the pool in time. That included the owners coming in the last days to help out. Kevin and Kim, who have owned the company for a really long time, didn't need to be working on our pool. But, as they said, they made us a commitment and they were going to deliver. The quality of the work is absolutely incredible. Everyone that touched our pool appeared to take a lot of pride in what they did. The surface is stunning, the workmanship top rate and we are very excited and happy. I highly recommend White Sands Pool Plastering.

We had our pool fixed under warranty and will not return to make sure the pool flow is right.
We had our pool resurfaced in March of 2017 by White Sands. Within a month the pool developed cracks in the sides. We contacted the company and they sent someone out to evaluate it. The Forman agreed there was cracks due to bond coating not being applied correctly so they would redo it. June of 2017 they came back to redo the pool again. They have reuined my grass due to the coating being split in the yard andbroke the screen door handle. They came out started the pool which has improper flow and will not return calls to correct this issue.

Desired Outcome

We want to have our pool working correctly. Both times there has been pebble stuck in the system which has caused improper flow to the system. We want this fixed so out pool doesn't turn green because the pool can not run at this time.

White Sands Pool Plastering Response

We would like to note that our contract is not with Mrs., it is with her husband Mr.. White Sands did originally come and plaster the interior of the swimming pool in March. After receiving a call from Mr. that the walls were cracking, we sent out our supervisor to evaluate the interior. After evaluating the pool, we determined that we would re-prep and re-plaster the interior. Although bond coating may have been a factor in the walls cracking, we never stated that it was the direct cause of the problem. We did decide to wait until June to re-prep and re-plaster the interior due to our busy schedule and agreed upon this with Mr..
We have been back to the residence multiple times, so the statement that we have not returned is false. As far as the grass, we have a 2-week policy. If the grass does not grow back within 2 weeks we will return and replace it. With that said, Mr. called the supervisor and let him know that he was fine with the grass and we did not need to replace it. Mr. also made note that the screen door handle did not need to be replaced by our company either as he had already fixed it. We would have fixed the handle if he would have wanted us to. We have talked with Mr. multiple times throughout the process and have returned his calls to fix the problems he is claiming we caused. Mr. had been in the hospital for a few days and during that time his wife would not call us or meet our supervisor at the home to go over the issues.
Mr. has also called to let us know that the pool filter was cleaned out by their pool service company and it now has proper flow. Our company did not cause improper flow.
If Mrs. or Mr. have any further issues they need to call our office and let us meet them at the pool. As of now Mr. has agreed that all issues and problems are resolved and taken care of. We want to make sure they are happy with their pool renovation.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
On numerous occasions phone calls or texting was not returned by White Sands Plastering Company until days later. We have not said that the damaged Zoysia grass in the front yard was ok and did not need repairs. Just seems like poor communication when you don't get a response when you have questions. Their cleanup process is poor and sloppy. My wife text'd them numerous times trying to meet with them on July 8th as she works all day. At no time was there another attempt to contact my wife. Another cause of concern is a blue hue color circle that is quite large circling the main pool drain. just very disappointed that the entire process seemed to take way too long. I have not agreed that all the concerns have been taken care of; also have numerous times talked to them about the spa overflow tile that has cracks in it since they redone the pool. Totally frustrated with them! I have attached a picture of where they damaged the Zoysia grass in the front yard.

White Sands Pool Plastering Response

Our supervisor Jarrett has met with Mrs. on Friday July 14th and all issues are being resolved at this time.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept the following if White Sands repairs my damaged Zoysia grass and gets rid of the blue ring surrounding a significant area around the main drain.
