I've been using Banfield for a year now and up until now I had great experiences with themThere staff is always friendly and helpfulHowever, they are extremely over priced!!! I didn't realize it until this past weekend when I brought my year old dog in because she broke her nail and needed to have the broken piece removedEven with having the optimal wellness plan and saving $I still was charged $After consulting with the vet about my payment options and explaining that I am a college student and don't have that kind of money, she told me this was my only option if I didn't want my dog to be in extreme pain when she walked and that I could apply for care creditSo after opening up a new credit card and charging this, I started telling people about how shocked I was at the priceEveryone told me I was crazy for paying that amountSo I then went to several different veterenary hospitals in the area and showed them my invoice from Banfield, and every single one told me I was entirely over chargedThey all said that there was no reason to put a dog in intensive care, and highly unlikely that she even needed to be sedatedThe average price these other vets quoted me at was between $and $In fact, every vet I asked quoted me at less than $Sedation, would have costed an average of $anywhere elseBut Banfield charged me approx$for the injections to sedate her and then another $for intensive care and $to monitor a year old dogs blood pressureThese prices also included the cost of the exam which I wasn't charged for at Banfield because I have the optimial wellness plan(Although it saved me $at the time, days later I'm charged $for the wellness plan) Where Banfield charged me $to remove the fractured nail, the other vets wouldn't have charged me as it would be included in the exam priceAlso, Banfield charged me $to bandage the foot and the bandage was falling off by the time I got home at no fault of my dog considering she had been under sedation and slept the entire way homeI'm frustrated that there was a much easier, cheaper, and much less stressful way on my dog to go about this than the service I received from BanfieldThe staff has always been friendly to me and to my dog, but the quality of service, the price, and the burden placed on a young girl who expressed her financial troubles from the beginning is not the kind of service I will be using any longer
