Review: Purchased a [redacted] 11/15. Realized we made a mistake because the van was too small for traveling with family.Went back to dealer discussed a trade where our payments could be within present range. The salesman presented a [redacted]. We discussed our range agreement. The we went to the Financial Manager who processed the papers. He went $40.00 over our agreed amount for monthly payments,. and asked for $2000.00 additional .We are financed with [redacted] without difficulty. My problem is we are receiving multiple letters from other financial companies who are refusing to finance the van and checking our credit scores, We have an excellent credit score and all these inquiries are hurting our scores. All these inquires were done without our knowledge. I do not understand why so many other Lending places were notified.Desired Settlement: To make sure my credit score is not affected by all inquires and to have them removed. I want my credit to remain excellent

Review: Working with Whitten Brothers has been a complete nightmare. I will never buy another car again at this place and I will tell everyone I know to avoid Whitten Brothers like the plague. I don't even know if I have the space to write all of my concerns. It all started in April of 2015 when I bought my van. It was not disclosed to me that my car had been in three accidents previous to my purchase. Everything about this company is shady. I have two kids that were with me at the time of purchase and they sold me a vehicle that had been in three accidents. Granted, I didn't ask. I was so excited to have a minivan that it slipped my mind. Not until we were in an accident, I found out from the at-fault party's insurer that my vehicle had no depreciation value because it had already been in three accidents. Before my sale was completed, the obnoxious guy came to talk to me about adding a clear coat or some kind of paint protectant. I refused because I was told that my car was traded in there a year ago and it was not disclosed to me that the previous owners actually purchased whatever it was the guy was selling. It was only after my 30 questions of things that didn't add up, that the truth was finally disclosed to me. After I made it clear I would not be purchasing he completely and visibly changed his attitude like I was sm of the earth. I overlooked it though, because I was still excited to have my van. When you buy a car, you get a "We owe you... you owe us statement" My car had a dent in it at the time. This was written on the statement that Whitten "owed" me. I came up there to have that fixed and NO ONE could find a record of that anywhere. After I showed MY paperwork AND placed a call to the manger, then somebody finally remembered. Important to note, that the dent in my car is still there. WELLL here we go, one year later, and I find myself needing an inspection. The guy (Travis? Maybe?) called me at 3pm (appointment was 10:45AM) and started off with his rapid spitfire, "you will need this and its $258.00, you will need that and its $149.00, you will also need this and its $54.00" blah blah blah. I was completely under duress and told him that I just wanted my car back and when could they have it done by. He advised tomorrow morning 04/28/16. I asked him if I could take advantage of the free rental car that Whitten said I would get when I bought the car there last year. And he said, "well we can have it ready for you by this evening". I told him I would like to pick it up at 5PM. He told me there was no way it would be ready by then. He said 5:30 at the earliest. I said okay, fix it all. I then asked if any of that was covered under the warranty that I got when I bought the car there a year ago. He said no mam, this is all maintenance. So I said, "OK go ahead and fix it." I hung up the phone and called my husband immediately, he instantly knew that we were being screwed and called to cancel the work. His call COULD NOT have been more than 20 minutes after we hung up and Travis(?) told him that it was already complete. So why was he telling me originally it would be the next day?And now all of a sudden it is done in 20 minutes? I knew that I had a recall on my vehicle because I had received a notification in the mail a few months ago. NO one said anything to me about that. I had to come up and ask Travis if they check for recalls when they do an inspection and he said, "Oh yeah, we had to order a part....". NOTHING ELSE WAS SAID, "okay sooo... are you going to call me when it comes in?" I am 100% confident that had I not brought it up, no one would have said anything to me about it and they would have taken credit for something that they didn't actually do. Because it is on my receipt, but not actually done. After I paid my $565.00 total bill that I wasn't expecting when I dropped my car off for a "free inspection" I asked Travis why I did not receive a detailed receipt and only a receipt showing what I paid. He said, "Oh, sorry about that, you are missing a page." So after I got the detailed receipt I noticed that I was charged $16.00 for the inspection, and he said "Oh sorry, I didn't realize you bought your car here", which is complete CRAP because I made it very clear that I bought my car there a year ago, that's how grimy Whitten is. They wanted every dollar I have..... I feel that you're employees are greasy, slimy used car salesmen and I wouldn't advise my worst enemy to buy a car from Whitten. I am not even sure that this situation CAN be rectified. I feel, that had I not been my own advocate, Whitten would continue to screw me in every way possible. Which is very scary for a lot of elderly residents of Ashland who might go there to buy a vehicle, not knowing what they are in for. This is by far the worst car buying experience I have ever had.

I scheduled an appointment on 11/21/13 with the [redacted] by phone to view and test drive a 2010 [redacted] at the Whitten Brothers of Ashland, Virginia dealership for 11 a.m. On 11/21/13. I had been in communication with the [redacted] all week (she was slow to respond to my emails, when she bothered to reply at all) and had spoken with the [redacted] to make sure there would be a chance to make a deal on the vehicle before I made the three-hour one way drive to the dealership. Both the [redacted] and [redacted] provided a trade-in quote on my [redacted] and I pulled out of my drive at 7:30 am to begin the trek to the dealership. I arrived at the dealership at 10:45, fifteen minutes before my scheduled appointment. When I entered the dealership, I was greeted by an individual named [redacted]. He Informed me the truck was being test driven by another customer and that we would have to wait until he returned with the truck to drive it, this despite the [redacted] knowing I would be traveling three hours. Twenty minutes later I was allowed to test drive the truck, but halfway through the short drive [redacted]'s phone rang and he spoke with the [redacted]. Upon pulling into the parking lot I was informed the prior test driver would be buying the truck. Why would the dealership have scheduled an appointment (an appointment is required with this dealership) BEFORE my appointment if they knew I was traveling from three hours away? To add insult to injury, they then dished me off to another employee who attempted to sale me another truck at a hundred dollars per month over the budget I provided. In all, I wasted over eight hours between the round trip and sitting at the dealership when the employees already knew the truck was sold. I also spent a hundred dollars on gas for the trip. There are certain ethics involved in this process and this dealership didn't follow them at all. How would those people like being treated the way I was treated? Not well, I'm sure!
