On 10/14/ [redacted] came into the shop with a transmission problem on his toyota 4runner with 166,miles I explained to him that we would look at his transmission problem and try to diagnose his problem and to find the best way to fix it for himAfter diagnosing the problem I informed [redacted] that his issue with the transmission was mechanical and not electrical and that his transmission would have to be removed and inspected internally to see what could be done to fix itI explained to [redacted] that there was a charge of $to remove and inspect his transmission which he agreed uponI obtained the last four digits of his social security number ( ***) as an authorization code to begin working on his vehicleI explained that this $would be put towards his repairs if he decided to allow us to make the necessary repairs to his transmissionAfter inspecting the internals of the transmission we found extensive damage to the components, which is very common of a year old vehicle with thousand milesI gave [redacted] three options to fix his vehicleOption was to rebuild his transmission completely for a total of $which would come with a month 12,mile warrantyOption was to install a re-manufactured transmission in his vehicle for a total of $which would come with a parts only warranty of daysOption was to install a used transmission sourced from a salvage yard for a total of $which would come with a parts only warranty of days [redacted] was given every option to fix his vehicle at a very fair price and declined the repair work to be doneAt which point he told me that he would have the vehicle towed back to his houseWhen he came in to pay the bill we told him that if he found a transmission that we would apply his $toward any repairs in the futureHe was happy and we shook hands and we both went homeAdmittidly, [redacted] bought a problematic vehicle with a transmission problemHis vehicle with a transmission problem is not worth anything because the transmission is worth $To assume that our company is now responsible for a purchase that the customer made is beyond any resonable reliefIf [redacted] still had the car then there may be the opportunity to buy it back but all amicable options are exhausted as there is no longer a vehicle to repair or purchase

Customer was called and explained why the vehicle took more time to fixAnd we explained to her why there was a confusion on when the parts would be hereShe says the car is running great and that she was just upset at the time it took and the rep who hung up on herFurthermore and contrary to your letter, she was not seeking her money backAs a matter of customer satisfaction she was also given an extended month warranty on the transmission as well as a free oil change

We have read over Mr***' complaintWe do not agree with his requestWe advertise numerous offers and it is clearly stated on our website in the Transmission section (*** that the $+ taxes and fluid (includes labor and
hard parts)It also states that valve body and converters are extra if and when they are neededI believe that we have adequately responded to his claim of "bait and switch" since nothing was hidden and explained on the websiteIf it would please Mr*** I would be happy to provide an additional year warranty or 12,miles at no extra chargeThis carries a retail value of $which we will waivethank you, michael

On 10/14/4015 [redacted] came into the shop with a transmission problem on his 1997 toyota 4runner with 166,208 miles I explained to him that we would look at his transmission problem and try to diagnose his problem and to find the best way to fix it for him. After diagnosing the problem I...

informed [redacted] that his issue with the transmission was mechanical and not electrical and that his transmission would have to be removed and inspected internally to see what could be done to fix it. I explained to [redacted] that there was a charge of $500 to remove and inspect his transmission which he agreed upon. I obtained the last four digits of his social security number ( [redacted]) as an authorization code to begin working on his vehicle. I explained that this $500 would be put towards his repairs if he decided to allow us to make the necessary repairs to his transmission. After inspecting the internals of the transmission we found extensive damage to the components, which is very common of a 18 year old vehicle with 166 thousand miles. I gave [redacted] three options to fix his vehicle. Option 1 was to rebuild his transmission completely for a total of $2500 which would come with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. Option 2 was to install a re-manufactured transmission in his vehicle for a total of $2200 which would come with a parts only warranty of 90 days. Option 3 was to install a used transmission sourced from a salvage yard for a total of $1900 which would come with a parts only warranty of 30 days. [redacted] was given every option to fix his vehicle at a very fair price and declined the repair work to be done. At which point he told me that he would have the vehicle towed back to his house. When he came in to pay the bill we told him that if he found a transmission that we would apply his $500 toward any repairs in the future. He was happy and we shook hands and we both went home. Admittidly, [redacted] bought a problematic vehicle with a transmission problem. His vehicle with a transmission problem is not worth anything because the transmission is worth $4000. To assume that our company is now responsible for a purchase that the customer made is beyond any resonable relief. If [redacted] still had the car then there may be the opportunity to buy it back but all amicable options are exhausted as there is no longer a vehicle to repair or purchase.
