I signed up a year ago I asked for a one year membership and the guy told me that they didn't do one year membershipsAfter I had already signed up I found out that a friend of mine was able to sign up for a one year membershipI called to try and change my membership and they told me I could not cause I had already signed the two year contract After a year of my contract I had tried again and the best they could do was down grade my membership to just me going since my kids never wanted to go cause the kids area always smelled bad

If you ever sign up here be sure you read ALL of the paperworkIt was ridiculous how many other fees we paid after the initial sign upMe and my sister signed up and first off they pressure you into doing a two year contract then after you are signed up they try to pressure you into buying personal training sessionsMy sister no longer wanted the membership and they want her to pay $to cancel it!!! I am sorry but at that point you don't care about your customersYou just care about moneyThat is absolutely absurd Honestly, the facility itself is nice but good grief make sure you want the whole contract when you sign it and ask about all of the other fees that you will be charged The people who work there are also not very helpfulWhen we first went in to ask about a membership the guy at the desk seemed annoyed by us because he was too busy flirting with a girlThen the lady my sister was talking to on the phone to see what she needed to do to cancel was not being straight forward with her or being helpful at all

I understand that their contract protects them to be able to require a day cancellation on a contract But really, when you sign a YEAR contract, it should be over in YEARS! This lets them get away with collecting money on those of us who do not have hours and cannot get down there to personally give them a cancellation notice I am not allowed to mail or email itI don't work 8-and I cannot go down there on a Saturday or a Sunday I work like jobs! It's a pretty *** policy I cannot go and I cannot cancel So I am paying every month for nothing and they are banking on that I am sureThat is how they have made me feel anyway They sell themselves as christian and involved in helping people but they have NOT ONCE even tried to work with me to cancel my membershipMe and my entire family are no longer working out there and have had issues cancelling due to having to go between 8-only Monday - Friday

I chose to seek membership from Bodyworks for Women and while most of the complaints/reviews I have read have been negative, I had nothing but a positive experience from Bodyworks. I had no issue cancelling my membership once it expired and was never surprised by the monthly charge. Also, the gym was in tip top shape and always squeaky clean. I have heard and read about people complaining about other locations but this one was always fantastic and staff was very helpful and watchful. My membership was explicitly and very thoroughly explained to me when I signed up so I had no questions and always knew what to expect. My only sort of negative comment would be that I wish my membership had no contract but I knew what I was getting into, so my fault there. I recommend the women's location to anyone and everyone. I never went to another location, even when I lived clear across town. Definitely a great facility with friendly staff!

I signed up a year ago. I asked for a one year membership and the guy told me that they didn't do one year memberships. After I had already signed up I found out that a friend of mine was able to sign up for a one year membership... I called to try and change my membership and they told me I could not cause I had already signed the two year contract. After a year of my contract I had tried again and the best they could do was down grade my membership to just me going since my kids never wanted to go cause the kids area always smelled bad.

I would give the Body Works location on 4th Street zero stars if possible. I agree with the tip the other yelper said about don't come here unless you plan to leave with a membership. We just moved to Lubbock from Houston a month ago and wanted to look for a gym. This is no 24 hour fitness but it's not the worst place to be. I still find it overpriced for what the facilities have to offer. Only one location is 24 hours and only one location has a pool. On top of that this particular location on 4th street happens to have a very greedy and deceitful employee named [redacted] I'm not sure if she is a manager or not but the way she tricked us into paying for a free membership is completely unacceptable. I asked multiple times during and after the tour if there was any free trial memberships. She consistently denied any free trials lasting more than 7 days and the only other option would be to partake in their promotion of enrolling in a year long membership that could be terminated in 30 days. She even said she was doing us a favor by letting us off of the enrollment fee. Well that's dandy until you try to go and cancel the membership. I discovered that she lied to us and there was definitely a 30 day trial available to those who have never been members before. This obviously includes us. She tried to tell my wife that we were not allowed to cancel. She tries to reason with her to no avail. I come in and she starts to say that I would have to bring my contract to show her that she allowed us to cancel because she doesn't keep contracts at her location. Wow! Really?! She failed to tell my wife that tidbit. So now we will be going to talk to the main office that has all the contracts and continue with our case there. I'm not talking to a liar who only cares about commission over the well being of their customers anymore.

My wife and I received memberships through our apartment complex. Overall as a gym I believe bodyworks provided a good experience for us and adequately met all our needs as customers. My one complaint is their 90 day challenge. It is a scam and I would tell anyone thinking of joining it that unless you are willing to pay for trainers or supplements or use their classes you are wasting your time and money. The people picked as "finalists" were far inferior in either weight loss, inches lost, and/or body fat percentage lost to many people I know and did the challenge with. It is used as a way to sell extra services you don't need and although they say you don't need to purchase those extra services you cannot win without them. They place a disclaimer that all winners are picked due to a variety of factors so technically you cannot point to any wrong doing but it is obvious that they are not picking who deserves it, but who promotes their business more. For being a place that promotes religion so much, they clearly do not have any morals to stand on themselves. It is disappointing to see that.

If you ever sign up here be sure you read ALL of the paperwork. It was ridiculous how many other fees we paid after the initial sign up. Me and my sister signed up and first off they pressure you into doing a two year contract then after you are signed up they try to pressure you into buying personal training sessions. My sister no longer wanted the membership and they want her to pay $600 to cancel it!!! I am sorry but at that point you don't care about your customers. You just care about money. That is absolutely absurd.
Honestly, the facility itself is nice but good grief make sure you want the whole contract when you sign it and ask about all of the other fees that you will be charged.
The people who work there are also not very helpful. When we first went in to ask about a membership the guy at the desk seemed annoyed by us because he was too busy flirting with a girl. Then the lady my sister was talking to on the phone to see what she needed to do to cancel was not being straight forward with her or being helpful at all.
