Review: My mother purchased a $200 gift certificate for Wilbur Hot Springs in November 2015 and the funds were taken out of her checking account. Wilbur Hot Springs sells their gift certificates through [redacted].

I used the $200 gift certificate in late February. Today, I received an email requesting I redeem the gift certificate through [redacted] by logging into my [redacted] account. Once I hit "redeem," my [redacted] credit card was charged $200. After submitting a request for an investigation with [redacted], I contacted Wilbur Hot Springs and the general manager, [redacted], reported there was a glitch in the system and it was [redacted]'s fault. She did not assume any responsibility and said [redacted] would not release the gift certificate funds to them, implying it was my responsibility to fix as the redeemer.

I do not understand why they would not contact the purchaser of the gift certificate to release the funds. I sincerely believe they do not understand how their [redacted] account works and that they think their customers should assume all financial responsibility. I will be expected to begin payment on the charge to my [redacted] credit account (which had a zero balance) in a few weeks.

I have no way of proving if it is fraud and I suspect others have been similarly affected.Desired Settlement: Because it was Wilbur's error, I am requesting a refund of the $200 that was mistakenly charged to my [redacted] credit account. This business should be barred from issuing gift certificates through [redacted] as they are unable to effectively manage the transactions.
