We have reviewed the complaint regarding Pamela *** adoption of a kitten from our catteryPlease note that we do not sell kittens, rather we place them to qualified families for adoptionThough a kitten does change hands, the vast majority of our work is in providing services to our
adoptive families in care and maintenance of their petsWe do not view our work as a simple transactional matter, as our relationships with our adoptive families typically extend for years following the adoptions.? ? In the case of Ms***, we admit that we were in error approving this adoption, as we had communicated only with Mr***, who struck us as a reasonable and respectful individualBy the time we encountered Ms*** we had already accepted their deposit, but we immediately understood that this was going to be a difficult relationship.? ? It is true that we initially tried to offer *** a different kitten from the one they had reserved due to the sudden illness of the kitten's mother (due to a rare condition which, fortunately, was corrected through surgery in the end)*** seemed to assume that we were trying to pull a fast one, and was determined to keep the kitten they chose, including using a number of choice legal threats in our direction - she is a lawyer after all, and the type that seems to believe that no opportunity to threaten people should be missed.? ? ? In any case, we honored our agreement, and as *** states, the kitten did vomit shortly after arriving in her homeThe kitten, along with her litter mates, were all examined by our veterinarian two days earlier, and given a clean bill of health, and in fact, a glowing one as this litter was particularly robust and beautiful.? ? When we received the call that there was a bit of rubber in the vomit, we were equally alarmed, and proceeded to check our cattery for similar particlesThe piece of rubber was clearly bitten off a larger object, so we should have found something similar but we did notIn fact, the next day, we re-examined the entire cattery, and once again, found nothingWe can only assume that, since none of the other kittens in the litter were affected, this piece of rubber was ingested in the home of the ***s.? ? In any case, this is not importantWe offered to take the kitten back with a full refund, an offer that was instantly accepted by ***, who, incidentally signed a waiver and release stating that they would no longer have any claim against usThis waiver has obviously been ignored and broken by ***, as she has continually attacked our cattery.? ? The veterinarian that *** brought the kitten to, actually called us in order to tell us how healthy the kitten was, that the lab results were all negative, and how impressed she was with our kittensWe have saved her voice mail for anyone who is interested in hearing it? As a side matter, our contract explicitly requires our adoptive families to take their kitten to a veterinarian within hours in order to assure the kitten's healthTherefore, *** had agreed upon signing the contract to take the kitten to the veterinarian, so the bill was properly hers to pay.? ? The kitten, it turns out, was and is healthy with its new familyThere was no cause for any of the panic that ensued, much less *** malicious response? It is clear to us that the *** do not have the proper mindset or disposition to own petsWe regret having mistaken them a compatible for one of our kittens? We have been in the cattery business for a decade, and this is the first complaint we have ever had from an adoptive family?
