I have gone on two tours with Wild West Irish Tours. The first, in the northwest (county Sligo) was an A+ vacation. Our small group was able to go on so many hikes with our driver, Dave. He was personable, shared his knowledge of the culture and history with us and became a true friend. Geraldine opened the doors to her B&B, making us feel at home during our stay. Both Dave and Geraldine were open to our interests and made the most of them. Our days were filled with most of the journeys shown on the itinerary. At night we were visited by a storyteller, a young Irish dancer who performed for us, and also had time to sit and chat by the fireplace.

My second trip was different. I again traveled on my own, joining 6 others. Our trip was led by a man who was a wonderful driver, but our days were somewhat short, since her was a newbie at this. There were a number of disappointments; we would essentially visit 2 places each day and return to the B&B by 5pm with no further get together planned until the next day. (There were a few places to eat in town, so that was ok). I did email WWIT to express my disappointment. They did contact the driver/tour guide who read a statement to us the next day. The trip improved a little, particularly when we had a fascinating guide take us hiking through the Burren. A few of us had the wonderful chance to return to the Burren 2 days later and have a picnic lunch with a spectacular view. While hiking we learned so much of the history, flora and fauna, and geography. This was the high point for me—this is why I went on my trip #2 with WWIT!

In both towns we stayed in, the B&B were top notch! My room in each was cozy, and our breakfasts were the best!

My suggestion? If you’re interested, go on the trip I first did—the one called the “signature tour”. It took my breath away from one day to the next.

Right now I’m not sure if I’ll consider another.

The proprietors of this business misrepresented and continue to misrepresent some of the services that they supposedly provide. i.e. airport drop-off at end of tour. Communication is difficult with the proprietors and email messages were frequently not acknowledged without followup on the customer's part. Review: There are many negative issues relating to this tour, but the most important issue has to do with my safety. During our first day on tour, the owner/tour guide driver, [redacted] shares with the entire tour group that he is a recovering alcoholic. This is while he is driving us from pub to pub and all over Ireland in a small van. At this point, I want to get out of the van and never get back in. I am the child of an abusive alcoholic and spent the rest of the trip in terror. I had panic attacks nightly just thinking that the next day I would have to put my life in this mans hands. It was horrible, I could never relax knowing that this may be my last day and I may not see my husband or children again. The worst part was trying to hide it from the others because I did not want to ruin their holiday. I spent countless hours in the lavatory having these attacks wherever we went and could not enjoy myself. I spent days "faking" a smile because I was terrified to anger this man. To make matters even worse, he passed us off to another driver, [redacted], for two days and felt the need to tell us that he as well was a recovering alcoholic. Just when I thought I would get a break from the anxiety, I was wrong. I am very upset that this was NOT told to me ahead of time. I NEVER would have booked with this company knowing that my life would be in the hands of alcoholics in IRELAND no less. Another massive issue was that this owner/tour guides bedroom was just opposite mine in the b&b and I was terrified because there were NO locks on the doors and the b&b owner would serve alcohol each night. (I do not drink at all)I had to put a chair against my doorknob to help me feel safe, which did not work. I did not sleep for the entire time. I have never, ever felt so scared to be on a tour alone. It was the first time I wanted to try a solo trip and this is what happens. I spent the entire time terrified that my alcoholic driver would kill me. This is completely unacceptable!Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund of my tour money, 1799.00 plus the single suppliment fee of 350.00. For a toatl of 2149.00I am NOT requesting my airfare fee from the US to Ireland
