Revdex.com spoke with the owner of the business who provided the following response:
He stated that
he came in for a state inspection on October 13, and failed the inspection for a list of about itemsAt that time, the owner told the customer that the vehicle had a lot of issues and that due to the age of the vehicle (1995) and the extent of the issues, he should think about getting rid of it.
The customer came back February to replace EGR tubesThe business replaced two EGR tubes that were on top of the engine and were very obviously badThe exhaust was leaking at that point, making the vehicle very loud, and they weren't able to detect any other leaks at that timeThe customer came back several days later and at that point, his exhaust had been replaced, and the vehicle was much quieter and it made it much easier to determine other issuesThe customer pointed out a different tube that he wanted replaced that was leaking, and said that he didn't want the two other tubes replaced previouslyThe business explained that those two tubes that were previously replaced were completely broken and did need to be replaced, and they were the most obvious issues when he had requested EGR tube replacementThe owner told the customer that they would look at the other tube he wanted replaced, but may run into other issues when doing the work because of the age of the vehicle and the extensive problemsThe mechanics worked hours on the vehicle trying to remove the damaged tube to replace it, and had to heat up the tube and break it on one side to get it offThey then ordered the part from another shop, and then once they received it, realized the shop had sent the wrong partThey again called the shop and gave the VIN number to the shop, and were told that the part was discontinued by Ford and was no longer produced because the model of the vehicle was so soldThey called around to other stores and were not able to find the part because it was on such an older vehicle and generally after market parts are not made for vehicle older than 2000, and the manufacturer no longer makes the partsThe owner told the customer that if he was able to find the part online he would install it for him, but that they do not purchase online partsThe customer opted to take his vehicle and not get a part from somewhere else to have it installed, even though it was leakingThe customer disputed the amount that he was charged but the customer was given a discount as far as the money made by the shop, but the owner stated that he still had to charge the amount that the mechanics worked because he had to pay them for the hours they spent working on the vehicleThe owner told him that he could take the receipts for the work that had been done and take it to other reputable businesses, and said that if he could find another business to say that the Wilder's Auto Repair had ripped him offer, or overcharged him, he would refund the money he had paidThe owner stated that he charged far less than what his rate is, and spent a lot of time working on this vehicle but because of the age of the vehicle and the the amount wrong with it, there isn't anything more he can do

Revdex.com spoke with the businessThis customer was only charged for the parts that were ordered and was made aware there were unreturnableAt the time of the customer’s purchase the shop had an employee that was able to do this repairHowever, after delays caused by incorrectly information provided
to the business by the time the parts arrived the shop was not able to do these repairsThe parts could not be returned but the business attempted to locate a shop that is able to do this workThe business was able to locate a business that had the needed tool to do this workThe business towed the vehicle to the show free of charge for the customer and it has been with that business since the time of the tow
