Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2015/12/04) */
The couple was not forced or coerced into signing a contract with Wildwood. In fact, they took several weeks and negotiated a contract within their budget. The signed a contract for a date early in the year and secured it with a non refundable...

deposit. Shortly after, they decided it was too soon and asked if they could move to October. We allowed the change and waived the mandatory deposit for the 2nd date. We held the October date, in good faith, for several months. Close to when a second deposit was due, they decided to break the contract and cancel. They demanded the deposit back. We compromised, stating if the date re-booked we would gladly return the deposit. The date unfortunately did not re-book.
On a side note, of all the venues, we take one of least amount of deposit for catering and site. The industry standard is 30-50 percent.
The couple changed their minds and went a different direction. A business should not be liable for the clients decision.
The couple signed a contract several weeks after visiting Wildwood. Wilwood held that date for months before they cancelled. We changed the date for the couple. We compromised and were willing to return the deposit if we re-booked. The couple broke the contract and cancelled. We have performed more service then what their deposit covered. They in turn, have slandered us on all the social media venues and labelled us as 'Crooks'. We have done everything to service their contract. Even after the contract was cancelled by the couple we agreed to service the contract until the event date.
