Business indicated he sent [redacted] a text on 10/8/telling him to let him know if they wanted it fixed to bring it to code and MrW [redacted] hasn't heard anything The customer is currently using the porch (have table/chairs and a grill on it) They have added rails and steps If this was dangerous, why are they using it? There are things that need to be done to bring it to code and can be done in a day MrW [redacted] said he will fix these issues The only thing that will change the look are boards on the inside of the roof in the ceiling At the beginning of this project, they didn't want to wait for the approval of the plan from the HOA or inspection department They wanted it done now and now after the fact got it inspected He is going to email pictures of the job and a drawing

The business has stated that we are trying to change the design of the roof This could not be farther from the truth We still want to very same design we asked for the day we first met with him The "fix" that the business wants to incorporate is what will change the design of the roof Adding posts to the roof was not a part of our original plan and will give it a totally different look We won't accept that We have offered to pay materials on what we need done to bring it up to code and keep it looking as close as possible to our original plans When we approached the business with this proposal, he refused to pay the labor which would take care of his mistakes he made at the beginning This is not the only area that will compromise the look Due to the businesses lack of knowledge on the project, we will also lose the cathedral look in the ceiling since the county has stated we need collar ties in the ceiling as well This was not a part of our original plan either and will now compromise our look The business is stating "only things have failed" but several of these things will give our roof a new design At this point, we will be tearing down the structure and hiring a knowledgeable, reputable business to give us the original design we asked the business to give us We no longer wish to work with this business and want our money back

Business was hired to put a porch over a deck and quoted the customer $ The customer accepted the bid and he discussed down payment and what specifically he would do He did the work and the customer was 100% satisfied and paid in full It was inspected by the county and
things failed He talked to the county and they said to fix the things and it would be fine The business is willing to fix the issues including another post to support the main beam The main beam didn't fail, the county wants another post to support the load The customer doesn't want the fix, they want a different design The business offered to have the customer buy the materials and he would pay provide the labor on a different porch The business is willing to fix the items the county said need to be corrected and the customer can call him so he can fix it

Business indicated he sent [redacted] a text on 10/8/15 telling him to let him know if they wanted it fixed to bring it to code and Mr. W[redacted] hasn't heard anything.  The customer is currently using the porch (have table/chairs and a grill on it).  They have added rails and steps.  If this was dangerous, why are they using it?  There are 5 things that need to be done to bring it to code and can be done in a day.  Mr. W[redacted] said he will fix these issues.  The only thing that will change the look are 3 boards on the inside of the roof in the ceiling.  At the beginning of this project, they didn't want to wait for the approval of the plan from the HOA or inspection department.  They wanted it done now and now after the fact got it inspected.  He is going to email pictures of the job and a drawing.

We are not currently using the structure outside our home.  Since we were instructed by the Boone County Inspectors to stay out from underneath the unsafe structure, we have taken this seriously and are doing just that.  The only reason we have a table and grill under this structure is because this is where it was before, and this is the only place we have to keep it at the time.  As for Mr. W[redacted]'s information he provided about adding steps, we have not done so and would be more than happy to provide a picture.  Perhaps the day he trespassed onto our property to view this, he wasn't quite able to get a good look.  By the way, Mr. W[redacted], did you happen to see the sagging and bowing already occurring on your work after a few short months?  Concerning, huh?  We think so too.  The rails were already in existence before the structure was built, and my husband did some temporary movement with them before we had the structure inspected.  They are not permanently attached.  Kind of like the structure itself.  We've been told it is not permanently secured either.  Yikes!  Unfortunately, we were not really in the know of needing to get a permit taken out beforehand.  Definitely an overlook on our part.  Perhaps our contractor Mr. W[redacted] should have provided this information as a so called professional.  Although, we're certain we know why he wouldn't have wanted to go this route given his quality of work and what he thought he could get away with by not having it inspected.  The only reason we knew to have it inspected afterwards is because we hired in our next contractor to come trim it out and finish the project.  He wouldn't work on it until we had it inspected because he knew it would fail on many levels.  Thank goodness for him and his knowledge about construction, because he saved us from dealing with a structure that we were told would definitely collapse over a period of time.  Imagine if our kids would be out under this when this would happen.  Wow! As stated before, Mr W[redacted] was not willing to comply with what we were asking him to do, and furthermore, given his work ethic and quality of work, it is in our best interest to move on.   We will be tearing the structure down and moving forward with our new architect and contractor as soon as we are able.  In fact, the architect has come out and new plans are underway.
