William C. Burnside & Company, Inc. Reviews (3)

As we understand, this matter has been resolved The customer also issued a review on *** on the same day this complaint was filed A portion of my *** response is included as it pertains to this claim (for some reason the *** review was under the name of *** K rather than
***).First, I reject ***'s claim that we have been dishonest or unethical in any way Everything that we have done has been based on our contract with him, including payment terms, and our efforts to provide good service Our reputation over 30+ years in this industry is exactly the opposite of ***'s claim of impropriety or dishonest of any kind. Our contract also specifies that electrical is not provided by Poolsafe The contractor he mentions said that his electrician was "too busy" to complete the electrical yet our attempt to go "above and beyond" our contractual duty was apparently not appreciated as an expression of good faith, not to mention that $is a very inexpensive price for any electrical work.It is our practice to make a courtesy call to all of our customers at least one day before we arrive to advise of timing, to confirm the customer is ready for us, to verify access to the yard, and to confirm the customer's payment preferenceI regret that *** misunderstood the purpose of this phone call We will review how such communication is delivered to determine if improved clarification is required.*** expressed frustration with the amount of slack added to his pool cover because he thought that there were too many wrinkles He has an existing pool that required installation of the pool cover in such a way that covers a portion of the deck and the pool, which results in more wrinkles at the front and back of the cover where the cover rests on top of the deck Pool covers are made with extra slack intentionally in order for the fabric to rest directly on top of the water which provides strength in the event someone or something gets on top of the cover The added slack also allows for fluctuations in the water level and operational variance Every automatic pool cover company adds slack to the fabric, however, our slack formula uses less slack than the industry standard because of how our fabric is made, which means that he would have more wrinkles if his fabric were made by a different manufacturer *** finally accepted that the fabric was made to industry standard but he is still not happy. At times, there are miscommunications and I believe the charge-back threat and response to be in this category I know that the customer was serious and I believe him that he understood one of our employees to in essence challenge him but I don’t believe that is how it was intended We DO NOT have frequent charge-backs because all work that we do is contractual and customer are happy with our work and product.I regret that the experience became frustrating for *** but I believe that the issue is resolved His pool cover is complete He even called recently with a warranty issue related to his pool cover pump that we resolved.I understand that he still owes us $for the electrical work that we performed but we do not intend to pursue the money in an effort to move forward.Regards,*** ***Vice President, Poolsafe

My name is [redacted], and I run Ly’s Lawn Service. I am writing to respond to the complaint from [redacted] I have never received the first letter so I am not sure if it is lost in the mail or not. But here is my side of the story: I gave [redacted] a written estimate for the following:...

1.     $ 50 for 1 time mowing the front and back yard, due to the grass was really tall because it has never been mowed since the season started. 2.     $ 100 for repair/fix the some of the uneven paving flagstones using dirt/sand and level them off. 3.     $200 for weeding in the flower beds in front and back yard. 4.     $500 for replacing the old bark, meaning pick up and haul away old barks and then place down new barks. There were total of 4 beds with the size of approximately 6x8 feet that need the bark replaced. I replaced total of 1 and ½ yard of new barks. All these bring the total up to $850. I met [redacted] and immediately I felt sympathy for her, because she was old and walking with some difficulty. I wanted to help her as much as I could, so I only gave her a reasonable quote with the intention to helping a senior citizen whose is probably the same age as my mother. I came with another worker and we worked since 7:30 till noon. We worked on May 15, 2016 and on July 22nd, 2016. She called and asked why the weeds are still there and why her yard looked worse than before I came. I asked myself was she having dementia or is she messing with me. It has been more than two months since we worked on her yard. With all the raining and water we get this year, the weeds and the grass will grow again. Without monthly yard maintenance and weekly mowing, her yard will not be looking pretty. Mrs. [redacted] also stated that she could not walk around to check the work before she paid. Can anybody believe this claim when after we finished the job, she did physically walked around front to back yard along with me, taking her time to make sure everything is completed to her expectation before she even paid us and acknowledging “GOOD JOB, **”. She even advised us to pick up a few small weeds and leaves that were blown to the street which we all did just to make her happy. Overall, I felt insulted and robbed for the hard work I did. How could an elderly lady write such a thing when I had worked my heart out, with sweating, and tear under the hot sun for her yard. [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: [redacted] did not work 2 days at my home, I called him initially on May 12, 2016 and he came over in the late afternoon and looked at the yard and gave me an estimate, (this took approximately 30-minutes) I was showing him what needed to be done and what I expected and he all the while, was smiling and telling me he knew what he was doing.  He and a helper came over on Sunday, May 15, 2016 around 7:00 am.  The weeds that they half-way pulled was about 1/2 of the weeds out there.  I provided Weed-Be-Gone for them to spray the cracks in the pavers, sidewalk after the weeds were pulled,  they did NOT pull all of the weeds and he told me to use the spray myself.  He left weeds galore between the pavers and the curb and when I mentioned it, he smiled and said something in another language and laughed.  The pavers I asked him to pull up and re-level have been out there for at least 15 years with not a problem, no chips, etc., he did not use sand to level them he used dirt and I did not discover until several days later that 2 of the pavers where not just chipped but large areas looked like they had been either hit with a hammer and/or dropped, making huge chips in them. The bark that he put on all of my gardens was too small and at least 1/4 either washed away with the first rain and the wind blew a portion of them away.  He  and his helper worked for 2 1/2 hours exactly.   After the back yard was "supposedly" mowed and weeded, I was on the sidewalk and had to point out the weeds and tall grass along the fence that needed to be pulled.  (He was in a real big hurry to get out of there) and wanted his check ($450.00) final payment, I asked him to meet me in the front to go over the work and he refused saying no I have to go.  Since I was not able to convince him to come out front, I reluctantly gave him his check.  A couple of friends and neighbors came over after a few days and asked me what the gardener did because it didn't look much different and I agreed, I was angry, disappointed, sad, felt that I had been taken advantage of, etc.  I did not know what to do.  After about a month and a half a business man friend of mine came over and we discussed the whole situation and he was the one who suggested that I contact the Revdex.com.  And just for the record I am not an old lady, I had a bad accident and broke my foot off, I am still recovering.  I still feel that I should have most of my money returned.  This company took advantage of me and I got taken to the cleaners, if he thought he would help the elderly, I would really hate to see what would happen to them.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
