First and foremost, I do not agree with the statement, the doctor kept telling me that there is NOTHING he can do because I am pregnant, I kept asking him so there is nothing you can do because I'm pregnant and there's only cat scan at Texas emergency care center which I needed an MRIThe doctor that was on duty kept suggestion to go to hospital and that there NOTHING he can do (he kept repeating that he can't help me any further but go to the hospital and no further testing he can do) I don't understand if I stay what other testing can he do when he already told me there's nothing more he can do, so all he can do is release me so I can go to the hospitalHe then told me that I would not be charge for the visit and the nurse even came in to room to let me sign for release because once again he can't do anymore test or anything on me because I am PREGNANT Once I got to the front desk she said the same thing as the physician, and nurse on duty that night that they would not charge me, she release me to sign form and gave me back my insurance card and id and didn't collect my copay the $*** copayShe didn't mention any copay because she said the visit was not going to be charge, which is odd how can you release someone and not mention any copay, right because I was told I wasn't going to be bill or charge for the visitThey should have not mention that I would not be charge I wouldn't be so angry when bill came home (my husband was there and heard exactly what I heard, he is also in disbelief when bill we receive) I am not happy with the way this is resultI will never recommend this place to anyone, I feel this place is a fraud what I was told and signI'll make sure to report this to my insuranceNo one expect to be coming in to a doctor or emergency care for free but don't ever mention something that's not true to the patient.

I have reviewed the complaint from *** *** and would like to report the following findings. First, let me stateTexas Emergency Care Center does NOT have a form that indicates a patient is NOT responsible for their bill. Nor has Texas Emergency Care Center ever had such a form since
opening in 2006.*** ***s was examined by the physician and several test were suggested by the physician. While it is true that Stroke Treatment should be initiated within hrs of the onset of symptoms, *** *** did not present to Texas Emergency Care Center until well after this 4hr time frame and therefore treatment options would be limited. Due to these limitation, the physician suggested a series of test be performed to further explore possible causes for her symptoms and then a possible transfer to the hospitals neurology services for further care should the test indicate such a need.. *** *** refused testing and signed out Against Medical Advice from Texas Emergency Care Center. *** *** also signed a Declination of Non-Continuation of Medical Care. She is correct in stating she signed more than one (1) form.Against Medical Advise - States that the she has chosen NOT to follow the suggested care of the physician and understands the risk of such.Declination of Non-Continuation of Medical Care - States that she is leaving on her own accord and that Texas Emergency Care did not in any way refuse care to her. In my review of the records sent to *** ***, she is correct in stating only signed form was sentThat was an over-site on the part of the person releasing the records, as the Declination form was catorgorized in the wrong section of the records. (The person sending the records would not have looked in that section when pulling the record.) The Consent Form and Quick Registration Forms are not classified as the Medical Record and not typically sent with a Medical Records Request.I have attached all Texas Emergency Care Center forms for your review as well. Again, there is no statement in any of our forms that indicate a patient will NOT receive a bill, however Texas Emergency Care Center seeks to uphold the highest standards in patient care and customer services. We will contact *** *** directly to ensure she is notified the bill for the visit in question has been eliminated. While our physician do not handle billing matters in any way and should never discuss billing matters with patients, we will stand by what was told to *** *** and honor any such statements made to her by the physician on duty.Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns of this patient. We appreciate any and all feedback, concerns and questions regarding Texas Emergency Care Center and our mission to be a service to the community.Terri DH***832-220-
