business for 28 years. This is the first time that I have ever received a letter from the Revdex.com. Mr. M came into our store with a bow approximately a 20 — 30 years old crossbow. We will work on such a bow only after explaining to the customer that we do not guarantee it because of the extreme age. Most archery proshops will not even consider working on bows of this age, but we do try to help customers. We are an authorized Bamett service center. We called the Bamett Crossbow Co. to try to get information on it, but they said it was too old to research. Bamett has not carried any parts for this bow for over 15 years, all they had was a specification chart. The customer did not purchase the bow from us. He said that two years ago he bought limbs from a dealer who has since passed. The dealer had old new stock and those limbs per Bamett are over 15 years old and not available per Bamett. Mr. M told us to order the cable 31.25” . We ordered per customer the 31.25” cable which was a custom order. When we put those new cable and strings on the bow per customer information, the cams came around and hit the string which is improper. We could not even test fire it because they were wrong. We then called Bamett and asked if that bowever had a 31.25” and they said no. We did not charge the customer for the wrong size he told us to order and because it was custom we could not return them. We then again ordered another one 30” which according to the chart was the correct one, which when we tested it, the cams were brought into their proper position and we shot the bow properly. We have attached a copy of the chart provided by Barnett which shows that the 30” cable which we put on the bow is correct. Mr M is saying that the 30” cable is wrong, so that is why we are attaching the chart to this letter. We can also provide the order for the 31.25” cable and also the new order for the 30” replacement cable on an invoice if you need it.When Mr. M came back in he said the the left limb split. He claimed the cam came around and hit his fingernail. We have seen this happen when a bow is improperly shot by placing the finger above the rail. The string can then “jump” the cam and then can cause a type of dry fire to happen which will sometimes damage the limb. He swears up and down that the string did not hit his finger, however, there was a tell tale sign of blood on the left side of the center serving, which I pointed out to him. The string would have jumped the left cam which it did and that would put undo pressure on that left limb causing it to split which it did.Again, we test shot the bow after the string and cables were installed in our test range and there was no problem.Again, we tried to find parts for this bow but they have not been available for over 15 years. We would have worked with labor with him, but that's all. The work we did was on the strings and cables not on the limbs.Again, we explained because of the age we would not be responsible but he left the bow by his choice..not ours.Since he accused us of putting on the wrong size of string and cable on his cross bow I have enclosed the Barnett Specification Chart. ’Please call us for any questions. We will not refund him any money. We should be charging him for the wrong set of strings that we ordered per his specifications.Sincerely.Williams A[redacted]
