Two years ago, I had a crown done in my hometown, *** *** **., over the holidaysThe crown was very painful and when I returned to Brooklyn, I had a checkup with my regular dentist at the time (Williamsburg Smile Design.) The dentist told me I needed it replaced and explained whyAs a Christmas gift, my father paid to have it replacedNow, at my last checkup, a few months ago, the dentist told me I needed the crown replacedI'm thinking no big dealThey'll do it for freeThe receptionist at the time was very rude, trying to haggle me, and said it was out of the "1-year warranty" so I had to pay for it againA crown I just paid a lot of money on years ago
I left the office in tears because I could not afford the crownI also had a new cavity (of course, right by the faulty crown.)

The crown was very painful and when I returned to Brooklyn, I had a checkup with my regular dentist at the time (Williamsburg Smile Design.) The dentist told me I needed it replaced and explained why. As a Christmas gift, my father paid to have it replaced. Now, at my last checkup, a few months ago, the dentist told me I needed the crown replaced. I'm thinking no big deal. They'll do it for free. The receptionist at the time was very rude, trying to haggle me, and said it was out of the "1-year warranty" so I had to pay for it again. A crown I just paid a lot of money on 2 years ago.

I left the office in tears because I could not afford the crown. I also had a new cavity (of course, right by the faulty crown.)

Review: Upon receiving a new Dental Insurance plan and searching for a new dentist in my area, I called Williamsburg Smile Design to see if they accepted the insurance plan. The receptionist said they did and so I proceeded to make an appointment for consultation. At this visit I received consultation, filled out my insurance information, and scheduled appointments for cleaning and filling cavities. I paid co-pays on all services. Over Six Months later, the office called me to tell me that in fact, the services were not covered by my insurance company and that I was responsible for over $2,000 in services on top of the $195 in co pays I had already settled. A few weeks later, I opened up my Credit Card statement seeing that they had gone ahead and charged my Credit Card without my authorization for the full amount. This is absolutely not okay. The receptionist should have let me know immediately that there was a problem with my insurance at which time I would have decided to look for another dental care provider.Desired Settlement: I have disputed my Credit Card charge and believe that Williamsburg Smile Design should take the responsibility of the dental work done due to their negligent insurance verification and billing practices
