We strive to provide all customers with the best possible service, and when customer expectations aren’t meet it’s important for us to know. Willmar Municipal Utilities is sorry that Mrs. [redacted] feels she received service that prompted you to contact us with a complaint on October 6th and we regret any inconvenience or frustration this customer experience may have caused. To ensure that our staff conducts itself in a manner that reflects the high regard we have for our customers, extensive customer service training is provided for all staff along with WMU’s rules and procedure measures in place to prevent things like this from happening. I notified our General Manager of the complaint and learned October 6th, Mr. [redacted] (GM), along with our customer service staff were involved in conversations with [redacted] explaining the delinquency on the account regarding the utility disconnection at the above address. The disconnection notice was properly addressed and mailed as Mrs. [redacted] confirmed and no satisfactory payment arrangements were made. The last two check payments applied on the account July 7th & September 7th 2016, were received insufficient funds and account closed. WMU was not notified of the inability to pay and the customer failed to enter into a mutually agreed upon payment plan, therefore these payments were reversed from the account creating a greater delinquency and aiding the shut off. Only after we are unsuccessful in resolving delinquents accounts our last recourse would be to disconnect. Upon notice of a partial payment guarantee from a local agency, service was restored October 6th.     Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention.   We are Main Street, not Wall Street, serving you and your neighbors with similar goals and values; providing safe, reliable and quality utility services.
