I signed my daughter up for baseball the season was a fail we only had 2 games the coach stopped coming to practices games etc and I feel its unfair for the parents and players and when we asked for a refund his reply was no! I am sending a copy of this email to the Executive Board of Wilshire AA. Wilshire Athletic Association is a non-profit, volunteer based athletic association. We recruit coaches from our parents and/or individuals known to a player on that team. All coaches, like the board, are unpaid volunteers. Wilshire talks with every coach to let them know what Wilshire expects from them and what they should be doing for each sport at each age division. This team the coach did not hold up his end of this and the parents of the players were contacted by text and emails several times trying to explain the situation and to see if any parent wanted to take over the team or if they knew of anyone that would be able to take over the team. No individuals stepped up to coach or found anyone to coach. Wilshire explained to them that even if there were 2 or 3 individuals who would work together to get the children the leadership they needed. No one stepped forward until close to the end of the season when an individual did volunteer. This age group is charged $60 per player to play. They get a new uniform (hat, jersey, pants & socks) for $40. It cost an average of $10 per player to register the team with the league to get games scheduled and pay for insurance. The remaining $10 goes to ensuring that they have quality equipment and that there would be no issues with the equipment safety. Our refund policy is clearly outlined with each family when they sign their child up and agree to it. Wilshire felt that we did everything possible to get this team what they needed but did not get any support from the parents. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
