Review: I took a log splitter in for repair and got it back in worse shape than when I had taken it in. I found out they had used something and gouged out the threads going into the cylinder. All this after they charged me $134.00. I took it three other places before I could find some one who was willing to attempt fixing the mess they had made to the machine.I would like that the public be informed that they are leaving there equipment with people who don't know what they are doing.I can't imagine how much they cost me in sales because I could not split there wood. The aggregation for not being able to split wood caused me to buy a new splitter just to be able to keep a few of my best customers. Let them know they can't just walk on the little man. They won't pay a penny so I would like published so others won't find out like I did. If I have to ask for a settlement in order for this to be published I would take two hundred dollars for lost wages, not to mention the price of a new spliter.Desired Settlement: A posting on Revdex.com If I have to ask for a settlement in order for this to be published I would take two hundred dollars for lost wages, not to mention the price of a new spliter.

Mr. Jay Rigney, Owmer states they fixed the part to the best of their knowledge. They were never notified there was a problem. They stand behind their work, but need to be notified before they can resolve an issue.

This is in reply to our conversation: I took my log spliter to Wilson's Lawn And Garden because they were the local dealer for the product. The business has changed with new ownership, but they serviced my equipment before with great results. This time when I went to pick it they told me it would still leak hydraulic oil a little. When I got it home and started using it it leaked a lot. I took the machine to a repair shop and ask them to fix it. Later that day the mechanic ask me to come down to his ship, I did and he showed me two gouges in the threads where the leak was and told me he didn't want to try to fix it because it was more than he could deal with. He recommended that I take it to a machine shop' so I took it to a machine shop and showed them the problem, they told me to take it to a shop that were in the hydraulic business, I took it to a hydraulic shop in South Boston Va. I called them a week later and they told me the only way they could fix it would be to weld it. I went and picked it up and brought it back home and called a local welding shop and they said that the cylinder had rubber washers inside and welding could melt them, but they gave me the name of a man that dealt with that kind of work, I took it to him and showed him what Wilson had done and asked him to fix it. He said he would but he had a couple of things ahead of me. Two months later I got tired of waiting to hear back from him and decided to go get it and just get another one.He had taken it apart to fix it so I started putting it back together and while I was doing that he showed up at the shop and he and I finshed it together. When I got it home this time it was fixed. I out of desperation had gone out and bought another one because it was beginning to look like I was never going to get back. I use the spliter as a way of heating my home....It wasn't the fact that all of this could have been so simple to fix if they had not used improper tools to get the treads out. Review: On April 13, 2015 I had contacted the business for information on lawn mower repair. A very nice woman told me that they do pick up and delivery but there is also a 3 week wait for repairs as it was the start of the busy season. I understood that and the woman set it up so a technician would call me to discuss pick up. Shortly after I spoke to someone and set up a pick up for that Friday April 17th. Approximately 4 weeks after the 17th I had called back to see if there was a diagnosis and cost of repair. The lawn mower had not been looked at yet but was next in line. While I was vacationing with family from out of town I again called for an update. This was June 8 or 9, 2015. I was told that the mechanic who was working on my mower was out for the rest of the day and I would get a call the following day. I did get a return phone call to which I was told that the mechanic had actually walked out and the ticket to my mower was just laying around the shop. The good news was it looked like he had written down a list of needed parts and they would be ordered right away. I continued to wait for a phone call letting me know everything was finished but I heard nothing. On other phone calls that I made I was either told that the mechanic had been too busy to work on my mower or that parts are on order. On July 11th I went in to the store and was simply told that the parts were still on back order. The parts manager wasn't in to answer any of my questions about time frame and the distributor was closed since it was a Saturday. The clerk was going to have the parts manager call me on Monday. The parts manager did call me on Monday and told me that all parts were in and the mower should be done by that afternoon or Tuesday at the latest. On July 16th (Thursday) I called to ask about delivery of my mower knowing that the shop would be closed for vacation July 18-25. At this point I was told the mechanic found something else wrong but the mechanic was too busy to talk to me at the time. I specifically said I wanted a phone call back before anything else was done so I could determine if I was putting more money into the mower and continuing with their service. I stated my frustration with the company and the amount of time that has passed. I was told that I picked a busy time to call them and they had a 5-7 week even though that is not what I was told back in April. I would have made other arrangements instead of sending my mower to them just to wait 5-7 weeks before it would get looked at. I was assured that I would get a call the following day so the mechanic could explain to me the new problem. I did not get that phone call on July 17th as I was told I would. Wilson Lawn and Garden has had my lawn mower for 14 weeks now, closer to 15. Even with a 5-7 week wait and additional 7-8 weeks for repairs is simply not acceptable. Wilson Lawn and Garden had not made any attempts to contact me to let me know that parts are on back order, or there are additional problems that were found. I was very understanding when I was first told about the mechanic who quit during the middle of a work day but that understanding is no longer warranted. I would have thought if a ticket was just laying around the shop then that customer might turn in to a priority to make up for it. I will not be using their services in the future and I will not recommend any family or friends to use them either. The service is simply ridiculous.Desired Settlement: At this point I want delivery of my mower and will only pay for the original 2 repairs, the brakes, and the blades not turning.

Response:

The incident listed above did happen exactly how the customer said it did. We get very busy in the spring and as ashamed as I am to say this, the customers mower was not prioritized like it should have been. When I (the manager) got wind of this, I immediately contacted the customer, got her Mower fixed and delivered back to her that day. The bill would have been around $400.00 and we did not charge the customer for any of it. This did not make up for her not having her mower for the majority of the mowing season, but, we felt like it was all we could do at that point. We contacted the customer and to the best of our knowledge, she is satisfied, I doubt she is very happy, but I think she knows that there was nothing more we could have done at this point.

Response:

I in fact did receive a call from the owner of the business, Jay Rigney who acknowledged the problem and was very quick to correct it. I was not charged for any of the repairs to my mower and it was returned immediately. I am very thankful that Mr. Rigney acknowledged my complaint and took the necessary steps to correct it. I do hope to do business with Wilson's Lawn and Garden in the future.
