We bought a Chevrolet Equinox from Bill Fitts in June, and so far, we are less than impressed It serves me right for having fairly bad credit and being excited for a dealership that would actually approve us for financing, but we're going to end up paying twice what Kelley Blue Book values the car in good condition from a dealership, and let me tell you, it's not in good condition
With no warranty available because it was over 100,miles, we should have known As we were rushed through the buying process by our sales person, we didn't think to check the power outlets; neither of them work Within hours the check engine light lit up We took it back to them to get it looked at, and apparently it's the gas cap, which O'Reilly's confirmed They were supposed to order us a new gas cap, and we haven't heard back from them since June Within the very first week, one of the tires blew after steadily getting lower and lower as we drove it We took it to get it replaced only to find out all four tires had dry rot because they were all six years old They shined them up real nice to sell the car, but the tires were crap Less than three full months in, and when we finally had the tires replaced and all-point inspection, we found out there's a leak in the AC lines, which we had suspected due to how warm the AC was running before fitzing out completely
All in all, we're going to pay over $on a car worth only $in good condition, have already put over $of maintenance/repairs into it in less than months, and we're not done yet Add into that the scratched and faded paint, torn-off window shields, bubbling window tint, and these guys ended up being a typical, low-class car lot with the benefit of being advertised and promoted by one of the area's largest and most popular radio stations
UPDATE: months in, and we're in need of a tubecause there is a cylinder misfiring Combined with the cost of replacing the wires (because they've never been replaced), and we're out another $450, and we got an estimate to repair the leak in the AC, which is another $250, and would put us in about $in maintenance and repairs in months because we've also had to replace both headlights, a tail light, and a parking light
The thing that knocked my review down to one star is something so absurd that one couldn't possibly make it up I was beginning to come around with Bill Fitts when the owner's wife (?), Yvonne, recently worked with us to refinance the car back down to the original payment we were approved of, which was $a month at the purchase time of the vehicle when my husband and I were both working full-time We instead chose to pay $a month to pay it off sooner, but that was before I had to drop down to part-time to continue school
So...Yvonne worked with us to get us back to the original approved monthly payments, we signed a new contract, and we were on our way
This was last week Yesterday, I received a call from Yvonne, in which she stated that she read my original review posted four months ago, and proceeded to tell me that she was immensely hurt and that if she had read it before, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE APPROVED OUR REFINANCING She then proceeded to tell me that I had burned the bridge with Bill Fitts Auto and they would not be helping us out with anything further Mind you, during this entire time, she did not let me speak except to tell her that it had been posted some time ago, and then told me to have a nice day and hung up on me
This is the issue with these little family-owned dealerships: there is no recourse for terrible customer service Instead of addressing our issues, the ownership decided to be petty and juvenile and CALL A CUSTOMER TO COMPLAIN AT THEM AND THEN PROCEED TO HANG UP ON THEM before any sort of mature conversation could be had I would return this vehicle to them and eat the money we've already invested if I could
Needless to say, I will never deal with them again, and will recommend the same to my friends and family
