Window Works services? Never Again!
Please Read This.
I used Window Works for almost 10 years and I advise you to get at least 3 estimates and ask to see what kind of windows they’re supplying! I was a Union Commercial Painter for 30 years and know quality products. I worked with the best tradesmen in the construction trades. I know good work.
You know! LIKE WINDOW WORKS USED TO BE………………………..Window works was a good company!
About 10 years ago we received a 5 star job for a 1 big picture window. The second job Window Works performed was a 5 star job for another picture window and 2 vertical slider windows all connected . Sure glad I had the picture windows done before they engineered their services to $$MONEY$$$ and definitely not quality window products.
The third job from Window Works! I requested the 2nd estimator and WOW the 1st estimator showed up. Because I have a few good experiences with Window Works I trusted him. THATS MY FAULT! ITS MY MISTAKE FOR TRUSTING WINDOW WORKS PAST PERFORMANCE AND NOT READING THE LAST 5 YEARS OF REVIEWS, ESPECIALLY REVIEWS WHICH ARE COMPLAINTS ON THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
HERES ONE
A CUSTOMER WHOS SIDING KEEPS FALLING OFF EXPOSING MOSTLY THE HIGH 2ND FLOOR locations EXPOSING THE TYVEK AND THE NO TYVEK, THEY WERE CHEATED OUT OF. TYVEK IS A SHEET-GOODS WRAP USED AS A INSULATING BARRIER BEFORE THE SIDING IS INSTALLED. When asked why IS TYVEK MISSING? THEY WERE TOLD THE HOUSE DID NOT NEED TYVEK IN THE VOIDS WHERE IT WAS MISSING! MISSING TYVEK EXPOSED BY INFERIOR LABOR CAUSING THE SIDING TO FALL OFF AND WIND KNOCKING IT OFF. TYVEK NOT INSTALLED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT NEEDED? THEY ASKED WHY WERE WE CHARGED TO TYVEK WRAP THE ENTIRE HOUSE ? AT THAT TIME THE BBB WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THIER REASONS FOR FAILURE.
ANOTHER ONE
HOW ABOUT WINDOW WORKS INSTALLED AN ENTRY DOOR OPENING WITH THE OPPOSITE SWING ( DOOR KNOB ON THE WRONG SIDE ) WHEN COMPLAINING THEY WERE TOLD ITS NOT THAT BAD! ? NOT SETTLED FOR OVER A YEAR WHEN I READ THAT BBB COMPLAINT IN SPRING OF 2023.
MY JOB!
After the 2023 3 window installation the 3rd and last job I’ll ever use Window Works for! THE NEW WINDOW SUPPLIERS WINDOW QUALITY IS VERY INFERIOR COMPARED TO MY 2 EARLIER WINDOW JOBS THEY INSTALLED.
I asked if they changed window suppliers? The Answer YES! So! Now I know why the windows I received are poor quality!
Basically in 2023 Window Works supplied about the same quality of window they replaced which were from Home Depot. you get from a Home Depot or any big chain stores ! A bottom of the barrel quality you can get for 1/2 the price Window Works is charging. I’m having a rear entry door and the last three window replacements in my house done next year, Not from Window Works.
I will say the carpenter that installed the 3 windows is a master craftsman. Which means the only chance the 3 Window Works windows have supplied have a chance of lasting. The windows? Don’t waste your money! Ill repeat ! This is the last time I’d consider Window Works! For any home construction job! Yeah! even if I was building the dogs a house.
Thanks, Mule

Poorly manufactured window was received from the company. It was not sealing fully and the operating mechanism was not working smoothly.I ordered 2 casement windows that the Owner talked me into after showing me a display model in the showroom. They were described as being manufactured by Vinyl Design (they came labeled as [redacted]). I asked how they compared to [redacted] brand windows (which I purchased from [redacted] this year as well). Mr. [redacted] said that the [redacted] window is built in the South, somewhere in [redacted], and not as reliable or well made as the window he was talking me into. He said his window is much better quality and would be made to fit the dimensions I needed. I paid 50% up front and was told the windows would be done and ready for pickup within 10 to 14 days. The windows were not ready for pickup until a month later. I should've suspected there was something wrong right away but I already paid for half the cost up front. When we picked up the windows the plastic shrink wrapping was loose and showing that some of the window foam insulation that was stuck around the edges was ripped off and not completely covering the edge all around. No head spacers or screws included, although I paid $350+ a window.Making sure the windows were plumb and squared, my experienced contractor and I opened the window and screwed the window through the pre-existing holes in the window frame, after cranking the window open for access. Upon attempting to close the window, the bottom corner was sealing, but the top was resistant to pull in and tighten properly. We drilled two additional holes in the center of the sides for more support and checked but the window was having a hard time getting to grab onto the latching mechanism and pulling tight. It required playing with the mechanism a couple of times to get it to close. And when opening, it was almost like a popping sensation from the crank mechanism. My contractor said the mechanics on the window will not last long the way it was operating. The armature on the 73" high window was the same size as the showroom model which was less than half its size. Seems like they should have used a stronger assembly to compensate for the weight or size of the window we received. We returned both of the windows to Window Works the next business day and explained to Mr. [redacted], the Owner, the issue. He said that we didn't know what we were doing and that he was going to send one of his contractors to check the window and see if there were any issues. He said he has been selling the '[redacted]" brand window for years and there have only been a handful of complaints. The next day his contractor came over with both windows, minus the screens, installed one and said he thought it was fine. He then called the store in our presence and stated it was working sloppier than another window I showed him, and he did not want to get in the middle of our disagreement. A window should not be operating sloppy, not brand new. The contractor left outside to continue his phone call and we then saw him leave the other window from his truck in my garage, without even asking. He came in and said that his boss told him to leave both windows with us.We then returned the window back to the store in [redacted] a second time. Mr. [redacted] called later and left a message on our home phone saying that his policy was "no refunds." I can't remember if I ever had to write a negative review for any company in the past but I hope this helps a future window shopper from getting jerked around due to bad customer service and low quality windows. In contrast, an [redacted] brand window I purchased at [redacted], works way better and has better armature ,and similar price point. Please use caution if you are buying a window here. Although [redacted] windows are sold here, beware of lower cost windows they may try to sell you. Unfortunately, you can't always rely on someone's expertise to sell you a good window, when money is involved. Maybe my window was a lemon, wish the Owner would acknowledge that. Left a sour taste in my mouth and a dent in my savings. Desired SettlementWe are requesting a refund of our purchase. The windows were returned to the company. We also want to warn other potential customers to do their own research on Windows and not trust the opinion of the Owner. They will not admit any faults with their products. Unfortunately, we were not able to find any reviews on Vinyl Design Windows prior to our purchase. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] PresidentContact Phone: XXX XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@windowworksnc.com RE Case #XXXXXXXXXXXXX $372.25RE; Case #XXXXXXXXXXXXX $375.00On or about May 14th 2016 Mr. [redacted] walked into our showroom and stated he wanted to purchase two Vinyl Casement windows for his home. He would have his contractor install the windows into his existing window frames at his house. We showed Mr. [redacted] several different vinyl window lines and he chose Vinyl Designs [redacted]. We have a sample of this window in the showroom and Mr. [redacted] opened and closed this window a number of times while going through his decision making process. We thought this was a good choice because we have sold this line for 9 years and have not had any issues with it. At that time Mr. [redacted] left. Several days later he returned with his wife and again they closely inspected the window display operating it multiple times. On May 18th Mr. [redacted] returned and said he wanted to place his order. Since these are custom made windows I suggested that I go to the [redacted]'s house and measure the windows (at no charge) so we would be assured that the windows would fit his old frames properly. These windows are custom sized and cannot be used anywhere else but in Mr. [redacted]'s frames. After measuring the windows Mr. [redacted] placed his order and gave us a deposit of $375.00 (see attached). On June 24th 2016 Mr. [redacted] picked up his windows and paid the balance on his credit card $372.25 (see attached). On August 8tth 6 weeks later Mr. [redacted] returned to our store with his windows. He claimed the windows were defective and could not be opened. We realized Mr. [redacted]'s house was quite old and his old window frames had probably settled and were probably wracked. We suggested we send our installer out to see if we could install his windows which would require shimming them in places to offset the wracked frame. We thought that his contractor may have not been experienced enough to understand the install procedure. Our installer partially installed one of Mr. [redacted] windows and it was working perfectly but Mrs. [redacted] told him to stop. They did not want the window and felt it was not up to the standards they wanted. This confused me and I asked Mr. [redacted] if the window he received were any different than the floor model he spent so much time with and he stated that it was the same but he felt the window he received was larger than the floor model and the crank mechanism was not sufficient to handle the size. I did not realize Mr. [redacted] was a window engineer. I explained that the window was identical to what he saw in the floor model and that there was nothing wrong with the window. He need to install it properly and it would work fine. Mr. [redacted] left the windows in our store and ran out. We would be happy to install Mr. [redacted] windows for a nominal charge if he wishes but that does not seem to be the case. This window was custom sized and made special for Mr. [redacted]. There is nothing we can do with it. It is not resalable and Mr. [redacted] must be held responsible for his decisions. We ask RE Case #XXXXXXXXXXXXX $372.25RE; Case #XXXXXXXXXXXXX $375.00That you overturn the chargeback and restore the money taken from our account. Mr. [redacted] chose a window he saw on display, operated multiple times and then decided that none of that mattered because his wife did not like the window.
