Window World of Fond Du Lac Reviews (2)

Review: We had a replacement window installed on Feb. 14, 2014. Right away the wooden trim they had placed over the window had been wet on the bottom, also when he had nailed the trim to our existing trim it had created stress cracks on the trim. We had tried getting in contact with the installer and he said call again when it happens again due to the fact he had installed the window during winter. The trim had gotten wet again and we tried calling him and to no surprise at all he had ignored our call and our voicemail and never heard from him again. We had accepted the fact we had an issue with the window until this past Thursday 12/24/2015 the water from the window had leaked into the bottom left corner into the drywall and had dripped down, now the drywall and all the trim and most likely the insulation will have to be replaced if there is that bad of a leak.Desired Settlement: Since my husband and I are most likely going to be replacing all the trim and the drywall and maybe the insulation and purchasing a NEW CONSTRUCTION window instead of a replacement window I would rather have them order a new construction window for us, out of their own pocket. We will do everything our own, they can come and remove and take their replacement window.

Response:

We contacted the customer on 12/28/15 and will be meeting with her on 12/30/15 to investigate the problem.

Response:

There will be a meeting taken place about the window and hopefully this issue will be resolved

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: On Wednesday July 17th, [redacted] came to our house and provided an estimate for replacement of 8 windows. He gave me the contract with all the prices filled out. He gave me their “100% Guaranteed Low Price or Double the Difference Back” guarantee document and told me he has never seen anyone need to use it. I told him we had other estimates and he told me that if the windows were comparable and the company installing them was a comparable window company, we could use the guarantee.

He gave me an estimate on the contract for $4,238 (including aluminum cladding). I showed him an estimate from another company ( [redacted] (aka [redacted])) for similar windows installed with aluminum cladding for $3,200.00. He took a scan of the bid with his phone and said he would talk to his sales manager.

Later that day, [redacted] called and magically their “low price” quoted to me on the contract wasn’t the lowest price and they suddenly could do the job for $3180.00 since they obviously were going to get called out for their “Double the Difference” guarantee.

Initially, I had not received the window brochure from the [redacted] rep. When he dropped them off the next day, I showed him the WindowWorld material and the “benefits” to the windows proposed by WindowWorld. Item by item, the [redacted] rep told me their windows were the same per item (and in one case better quality).

On July 19th, I forwarded the information on the windows (the pertinent website information) to [redacted] and he did not dispute at all that these were comparable windows. He did attempt to discredit [redacted] by stating they don’t just install windows (they also do roofing) and that they weren’t certified vinyl window installers. I tried to get [redacted] (and his sales manager [redacted]) to tell me just who provides the certification so that I could find out if [redacted] was indeed certified to whatever standard they required. Neither of the men would respond to that question.

Next, after I sent them the website link for [redacted] (of which [redacted] is the local representative), [redacted] introduced into the conversation that my guarantee didn’t apply because the guarantee states they have to have a “signed contract.” The guarantee does not, in fact, state that. His last-ditch effort was to claim that the guarantee is not valid because although [redacted] handed it to me, told me what it was, told me how to use it, but didn’t actually write on it, we cannot hold them to the terms of the guarantee.Desired Settlement: To honor the low-price double-the-difference back guarantee (which is what the sale rep [redacted] told me they would do - making NO mention of that anything needed to be signed) and install the windows at the price dictated by the guarantee.

Business

Response:

Window World of Milwaukee LLC does indeed have a 100% Guaranteed Low Price or Double the

Difference Back Certificate. We are very glad to honor this certificate when and if a customer signs a

contract with us and have found a company that will beat our price with comparable quality and

workmanship, using equal materials. The estimate that Mrs. [redacted] is referring to was never signed and

therefore is not a legal contract, rather just an estimate. Furthermore the workmanship that the other

company has stated that they would do is not comparable, "[redacted]" has not

stated that they were going to perform a lead safe installation. Since Mrs. [redacted]'s home was built

before 1978, Wisconsin DHS 163 mandates that the remodeling be done by a Lead Safe Renovation

company. This company is not licensed for this.

In our 100% Guaranteed Low Price or Double the Difference Back Certificate, the contractor must be

licensed by the state, and per Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services this company's

license has expired. Last of all the Company must have an established office, [redacted] works out of a home.

Window World stands behind our product and our services. We are happy to meet [redacted], price but we will not double the difference back as they are not a qualified contractor.

Thank you

To whom it may concern,

Regarding [redacted]

Case #[redacted]

Window World’s 100% Guaranteed Low Price or Double the Difference Back is based on a contract, and an endorsed certificate. Mrs. [redacted] you have not signed a contract nor have you received an endorsed certificate. The certificate is endorsed by Window World once you sign the estimate, therefore making it a contract. Then in the event you find a competitor that is lower priced and they meet the qualification of a contractor per the certificate we will double the difference back. You never signed the contract and therefore we will not double the difference back.

Window World stands behind our product and our services. We are happy to meet [redacted], price but we will not double the difference back as they are not a qualified contractor.

Thank you

Response:

This complaint will not be resolved as Window World refuses to acknowledge any other company as qualified to install windows. The salesperson who lied to us about the guarantee said they had NEVER had to use the policy which is further evidence that they find any excuse to "disqualify" other capable qualified window installers. It's a scam. You may file my complaint away for future window customers checking on Window World and I will do my part to ensure that their scam is made known to all my social networks. Obviously they are not going to make good on their "guarantee" (by claiming it's not in effect because I didn't sign a contract that was more than our other estimate - I can't think of why anyone would sign a contract that is not the lowest price so claiming the contract needs to be signed to enforce their guarantee is further evidence that Window World is trying to scam customers). No further action is needed at this time though my complain will never be resolved.
