Window World of Western Massachusetts, Inc. Reviews (5)

This review is strictly my opinion based on an experience I had with 3 patio doors and a kitchen window that I contracted window world of western mass to install in my home.
Day one they arrive and install two patio doors and one window. One of the patio doors for some reason they had alot of problems installing and ultimatly had to order a bew door. From there on I got alot of diffrent stories about what was wrong, what they needed, and when it would be corrected. Bottom line is the handles on the patio doors were 4" off, meaning the left door handle was 4" higher than the right.
I arrived home and looked at what they had done and was floored by the work that had been done. the finish work, in my opinion, was some of the worst I have ever seen
They had gouged the interior window sill with a saws, there were huge gaps in the corners they mitered, the exterior aluminum flashing had nailes pounded thru the facia( not on the interior or exterior sides as is customly done ), there were huge gaps where you could see the wood underneath and some was installed crooked just to name a few.
One month later ( plus or minus ) I receive a call that my replacement door has come in and they want to send out two crews to fix all my concerns and replace the defective door and install the last of the patio doors.
When they arrived I asked the owner, Bob [redacted] for the installers HIC # and he assured me he would get it but by days end it turned out that while he had submitted n an application for renewal (3 days prior to starting to tear apart my house ) it was rejected ( because it wasnt a renewal ,he had to apply for his HIC with a new application )so at the time he started the work he was not a registered HIC with the state and infact is still not registered! Bob [redacted] admitted to me that he never asked or saw a copy of the HIC registration and assumed he had it. Bottom line is they have to have at least an HIC registered contractor on site to replace windows and sliders and this guy clearly wasnt. Once we found out the guy didnt have an HIC( only because I pushed it ) Bob [redacted] tried to tell me he was actually an employee so he worked under his contractors liscense ???( this after he had told me earlier that he was a sub and thats why he only needed an HIC ) Couldnt be because he wasnt there at anytime the work was being done on day one, so nobody had the proper credentials to be working on my house. In my opinion, the work they did is horrible and based on my experience speaking with Bob [redacted] of window world of western mass he is a dishonest business man looking to skate by with sub par work utilizing unlicensed sub contractors. Of course this is my opinion based solely on my direct dealings with Bob [redacted] of Window World of Western Mass.
P.S.
the new patio door they installed has to be slammed to close, the trim on the back is now falling off, the locks on th doors operate in diffrent directons, they pounded nailes thru the aluminum facia on all but one door even after I told them that wasnt aceptable, window sill replaced but not routered to match the rest, more gouges on window casing and you guessed it, still have gaps in moldings. All this after I told them they would have one more shot to make things right !!
I will say that the two guys who installed the last patio door ( and didnt pound nails thru the aluminum facia ) did a great job. That door is great!

I can't express how completely satisfied my fiancé and I are with the windows and service we received from Window World. They were able to accommodate our crazy schedule and install 14 windows, including a large picture window in 7 hours. The three man crew went through and put down drop clothes and cleaned up after each window. The windows looks fantastic! Not to mention, lifetime screen replacements will come in handy in the coming years since our cats wilI likely have their way with them. Before the crew left, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the company, which was pretty cool. It's nice to see that he could take the time out of his day to come and meet with us and ask about our experience. He looked over everything to make sure it was perfect. I trust Window World and would recommend them to anyone who needs new windows, and doors! I cannot wait to see what kind of heat improvements we will have when the winter comes. Thanks so much!

Need to cancel incompleted contract due to medical financial strain arising after incomplete contract was signedordered 7 replacement windows on nov. 6, 2014 paid salesman $1406.00 (50%) of the total contractlast week in nov. I was made aware of a medical/financial stress situationsince no materials or work had been preformed by window world, on dec. 1, 2014 I called and requested a refund of my $1406.00 deposit I was told over the phone that I needed to write a note stating my issue and submit a Dr. note and window world would refund my money less the salesman commission. I did not agree to this.I visited the office on Dec. 2, 2014 with my note stating the issue and a copy of the cost of the medical/financial burden on my part. I would not let them copy the Dr. paper as it is part of my medical record. This paper was what the Dr. office sent to me in lieu of a note. Since I did not agree to their terms window world said we will talk through our lawyers. I would like to settle this dispute out of court if possible.Desired Settlementsince no work was performed and no materials ordered and I was not aware I was to pay window world's employee commission, I would like my $1406.00 deposit returned'Business Response The customer did sign a window contract with us, November 6, 2014. After the 3 day rescission period, the salesman was paid commission-which is our policy. We entered the contract in our system and set up the customer in all of our processing programs. Then we called 3 times in attempt to schedule a measure in order to get the custom made windows ordered. On 12/1/2014, The customer called to cancel due to health issues. The following is the statement of our Customer Service Representative:"Mrs. [redacted] called to inform us that she needed to cancel her contract due to medical expenses, and requested a refund of her deposit.I conferred with [redacted], and because it was way past the three-day grace period, he told me she would need to give us a written notice as well as a doctor's note, and that Window World would need to deduct its costs from the refund.Mrs. [redacted] came into the showroom with a letter she had written but refused to give it to me. She said she had her dentist's records with her, and that they could be looked at, but that Window World could not have a copy. I never told her that we needed medical records, but had told her that we needed a note from her doctor (or dentist). She refused, and only offered a look at her medical record.[redacted] came out of his office and talked with Mrs. [redacted] in the showroom. He emphasized that all we were asking for was a note from her medical practitioner saying that this expense was necessary, and that we were not requesting any medical records, but she refused. She did, however, hand [redacted] the letter that she had written and which she had refused to give me when she first came in."On 12/2, when [redacted] went to the showroom to talk to Mrs. [redacted], she was demanding and argumentative, not willing to reason together. [redacted] did restate that he doesn't want medical records, just a Dr's note saying work is necessary. Mrs. [redacted] said the dentist won't do that. She handed the letter to [redacted] as she left, saying that she was contacting her lawyer. The letter was typed by Mrs. [redacted] and ended saying "I will be expecting a check within 3 business days for $1406.00." Mrs. [redacted] signed the contract on 11/6/2014. Her signature is directly below the Boxed in and Bold letters of the contract that states: "You the buyer may cancel this transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after the date of this transaction. Notice of cancellation must be in writing postmarked no later than midnight of the following third business day. THIS IS A CUSTOM ORDER NOT FOR RESALE!"Window World of Western Massachusetts is not the party that is breaching the contract. We are still willing to honor the contract, measure, order, and install what was contracted. However, if Mrs. [redacted] would produce a Drs. note explaining necessity, we would consider refunding the down payment, less the administrative/sales costs incurred to this point. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The statements as stated above are not true. I was never argumentative, just stated the facts as I saw them. I did produce my note and gave it to the people at Window World. The paperwork I brought with me from my dentist ( this is what the dentist gave me in lieu of a note) ,DID state the the type of work needed and the actual cost. I offered to let them see it but they refused to even look at it after I told them no copy would be made. I NEVER said I was contacting my lawyer, [redacted] is the one who brought up contacting their lawyers. At that point, we terminated our conversation and I left . I can provide you with a copy of the letter I wrote as well as the incomplete (as in not properly filled out )contract and the record the Dr. sent (with all personal info such as my SS# and acct. # deleted). I still contend no materials were ordered or work done. I would like all of my money back. I feel Window World is responsible for paying their own employee's not me. Nowhere on that contract does it say I pay the salesman. I however will consider a written offer if it is a reasonable offer but do not commit to acceptance at this point.Final Business Response The bottom line is that we are not under obligation to release this customer from her contract. But if the customer would provide a note from Dr. stating medical necessity, then we will release customer from contract. We would then refund the down payment, less our expense of $300 incurred to this point. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept the terms from Window World for the following reasons. 1. I believe the contract was not written properly. 2. I was not made aware I was responsible to pay Window World's sales person. I also still believe Window World is responsible to pay their own employee's.3. I will provide the proof of work needed to be done with the description and cost that my Dentist already has supplied me for a full refund. (less any personal info such as insurance numbers and company, social security number.) I still feel this is an invasion of my privacy, but am willing to acquiesce for a full refund

After a contract was signed and the work was started they called to say that it was more money for more work then in the contract.I met with [redacted] the saleman and we went through the house and explained that 4 of the windows was going to be in a new construction. After a contract was signed and the work was started they called to say that it was more money for more work then in the contract. There was no mention of the extra money when the work was being done. I told them that I wanted all the windows to match throughout the whole house. Then when [redacted] came to measure he also knew that 4 of the windows were going to be new construction. When they installed the first 4 windows in the new construction there was gaps on the outside and there was place for the siding to butt up against the windows. When they came to put in the other windows we showed the installer and he said that no one had mentioned that but he would fix it. When [redacted] called the next day he started at an additional $800.00 because his sales person didn't put the extra work on the contract and the installer was there longer than they had planned for. I explained that everyone had known about the new construction but he said that he didn't think he should have to pay for the extra work. They have my credit card info and he bullied me into an extra $400.00 but then I thought why am I paying for their mistake. Please help me!Desired SettlementI don't have the extra money and would like not to have any extra $400.00 added to my credit card.Business Response Dear Revdex.com:Regarding Complaint XXXXXX, this has been resolved. The customer jumped the gun in contacting Revdex.com before even letting Window World try to resolve her issues. Almost all of the problems with this job were due to communication between her contractor and our site manager, that did not get relayed to her. One problem was related to measure error on our part, which regrettably does occasionally happen. All issues were taken care of to the satisfaction of the customer, which is our goal 100% of the time! So, we can verify that this case is closed.Sincerely,[redacted] of [redacted] XXXXXXXX-XXX-XXXX[redacted] (fax)
