Windy Acre Ranch Reviews (5)

I purchased a puppy from Windy Acre Ranch in December 2014. He came with giardia and diarrhea which later turned into [redacted] stools/diarrhea. He has been on 2 rounds of medication to try and fix the giardia and diarrhea. When I emailed Windy Acre ranch about the health of my puppy, they did offer to pay and did end up reimbursing me for the 1st round of medicine which was 3 days after I bought our puppy. I have since tried to contact them about the giardia still being present and the [redacted] stools/diarrhea as my puppies health hasn't gotten any better. They have chosen to not respond to my concerns about the health of the puppy they sold me. Their website claims that they have never had a problem with giardia before, but my puppy is a prime example that it is present there.
When I contacted them about buying a puppy, the emails name had [redacted] on it. Since receiving a crate a couple weeks after with [redacted] name on it I searched his name since I had previously looked up [redacted] and found nothing. [redacted] however comes up with http://www.edragoon.com/closesleepyhollow/id28.html as one of the webpages to look at. I'm not exactly sure where my puppy has come from. I showed my husband the picture of Sarah and [redacted] after finding this page and he confirmed that they are the ones who he bought the puppy from. If you are considering buying a puppy from these people, please go check out where your puppy will be living for it's first few weeks of life and if conditions are not good, then you should report it.

I found & purchased a puppy from Windy Acre Ranch as advertised on puppyfind.com. I am 8 hours from them, but they had other puppies they were driving halfway between them and me to meet a breeder friend, Leigh, who would bring them the rest of the way to Portland, so they added my puppy to the transport. When I met Leigh to pick up the puppy he was taken from a crate with several other puppies and had feces & vomit all over him. Since it was raining, I was told, they couldn't stop for potty breaks for the puppies...on an 8-hour trip! The puppy had been given a quick hair cut and looked terrible. He smelled awful, was too small for his age, and would pee every time someone touched him. If you touched him anywhere but his face he would pee, tuck his tail, stand frozen, and not move until you stopped touching him. When you pick him up he would do the same. He was definitely NOT properly handled and was either neglected, abused, or both. He had no concept of a treat or cookie and could barely chew a cheerio. The breeder "forgot" to send the "self-administered" (I found out later) vaccine records for him and texted me a picture with a promise to mail them later. I am convinced he's not a pure-bred Havanese as advertised, as his hair was thin & course and he was much smaller than he should have been. The groomer I took him to agreed that he probably wasn't purebred. He also was not trained to a peepad as advertised and has a habit of eating his feces. I was told over text BEFORE purchasing that if something didn't work out Sarah would take the puppy back or Leigh could sell him in Portland. But when I tried to return him I only got excuses and apologies as to why they couldn't, including a neck surgery. I found out I was charged $150 more than the puppy had been advertised on Facebook, and was told I would have to pay another $150 to have him transported back. Needless to say, I wouldn't pay them anymore money & sold him for $100 less than I paid for him to a family that would love him and take care of him. I will NEVER do business with them again.

I want to let everyone know of my amazing experience with Sarah Schak, my son had wanted a Golden Retrieve for years, when it was time we found a add from Sarah. We call she was very helpful with questions we had . She invited us to come at any time to see the puppies. Well we went right away because we were only 45 mins away. When we got his mom was running free in the yard she is beautiful, the puppies were in a larger out door play area and so friendly it was hard to make a choice. We knew we wanted a male and there were 2 we like. So I asked if we could put a depoist and pick between the 2 in a few weeks as they grew. She was very willing to do that for us. After that she walkec us aound her yard and showed us Dad and her other dogs as well. After we walked around Sarah even showed all of both parents family tree and pictures of former litters. I am so glad to have gotten our guy from her. I still to this day call with questions and she always helps me. Thanks to Sarah we have a amazing member of our family and plan on buying another Golden from her soon.

I have known this breeder for many years. I have bought five golden retrievers, two boston terriers, and helped her rescue many other dogs and other animals. I have been very happy with all my dealings with this breeder. I suggest this breeder to everyone I know. I have many people I know that have also bought from this breeder.

Review: I purchased a puppy from Windy Acre Ranch on 9/23/14. This puppy was advertised as registered both on the ad and verbally. I've been in contact with [redacted] regarding the papers since purchased and was continuously reassured she had sent them in. On 11/12/14 I learned that she had never don't what she said and no papers would be forth coming. My puppy was also advertised as healthy with vaccination, worming protocal, etc. He had fleas, diarrhea, some blood in stool off and on, tapeworm (due to the fleas), and separation anxiety. I was in contact with [redacted] regarding these issues all along. I have asked for a partial refund to reflect a pet price not a registered one along with the poor health of my dog. [redacted] has offered a refund and returning my pup to her to re-sell or euthanize in the next week or two. This is unexceptable as he is part of the family now and I will not return him to that environment. [redacted] runs a puppy mill. Upon arriving the conditions in the yard and porch area were filthy. There was trash everywhere and the flies were covering the door and porch. Dogs were in horse trailers, metal crates in the yard, and more dogs could be heard in the house and out back. There was feces everywhere. My puppy was clean as she had just bathed him. There was no documentation of shots or worming protocol. She did grab a puppy package and fill in information regarding schedule, but no actual dates of when worming and vaccinations were done. Upon arriving home and bathing my puppy again as he still smelled I found his head area covered in fleas.Desired Settlement: I have asked [redacted] for a $300 refund of the $600 I paid for a healthy, registered puppy. She has refused and offered a refund and returning puppy to re-sell or euthanize. I also just want the condition of the property and my puppy on record.
