WINMAR Property Restoration Specialists Reviews (%countItem)

Between March 12 and March 22, 2019 Winmar Moose Jaw was on my property and damaged both my back doors but will not discuss with me
On March 11, 2019 I came home to find my basement had 3 feet of water and mud in it.I called the city and found out the main water line had broken beside my property.I called my insurance who told me to call remediation company to start work immediately.I called winmar and 2 people named *** and *** came about 430pm.At this point I am in shock as know 4 generations of pictures and the file on my special needs sister is lost.Winmar reps told me they talked to my insurance and I had no insurance and to cut them cheque for 10K before they start work.I said can't and they then left a construction heater in my kitchen and told me to sign here on their computer for their equipment.***. I did sign for what I thought was a heater but found out next day when at insurance company that what I really signed what a remediation agreement and that insurance agent DID NOT tell them I had no insurance.*** my brother flew in from BC to help me as Winmar had me so upset ***. We made a formal complaint on Mar 31 to Winmar Canada international and received a response from *** that they take this seriously but never heard a thing after that. While winmar was on my property they wrecked both my back doors. Outside door is so bent it no longer closes and inside door is dented and broken now on bottom sweep and does not close properly. While they empty my basement of everything they continually banged into the outside door and the inside door was removed on numerous days and dropped agian metal posts outside and therefore damaged. I heard workers swearing and complaining over how heavy the door was. I tried to claim the doors through insurance but was told in July that Winmar is responsible for damages to my property.I emailed Winamr at [email protected] on 30 July explaining and providing pictures and asked them to respond by Aug 9, 2019. Nil response. I looked through their website and found owner name which is *** but no direct contact info.Winmars website promotes that they are experts in remediation and are competent to perform the work and that they had the necessary skill or expertise to do the job. For my property they displayed disrespect and no competence for the job they were completing

Desired Outcome

To pay for the installation and cost of replacing the two doors

WINMAR Property Restoration Specialists Response • Oct 10, 2019

When I attended she decided she did not want the door slab replaced as there was lots of previous damages to this door not form our crew, it was also unknown if the damage was actually caused by our crew.
As for the storm door, the door unit itself is fine, the dampener is bent, this looks like it may have been from getting bumped or could be from the wind ripping the door open. I offered to replace the dampener and asked her to advise the office when a suitable time would be. We never heard from her.

Questioning if the damage was even a result of our crews due to the time between when we completed the work to the time the damage was reported was a long time lapse.

Note the email in her report is wrong, she has multiple contacts for our office and the number is listed in many areas for the office if she was not getting a response from the wrong email address.

I am still happy to replace the dampener for the storm door as this is all that is required, this item is at the shop as I purchased it waiting for her call.

As per her original choice, the man door slab will not be replaced due to lots of previous damages to the door not related to the work, also she states the door slab was removed while we were on site, so this would not have been in place to get hit during carrying items outside.

She only needs to call the office to have this arranged.

I have had no discussion with Winmar on the doors they wrecked. The statement by them that I did not want the doors replaced is just not true. The outside screen door is not fine as it is twisted in the frame from them banging it for almost 3 days and does not close and has not since Winmar came to my residence in March. My inside door has many dents (not there before Winmar came to my property) and door sweep is broken. No one at Winmar has spoken to me or been on my property (that I am aware of) since March 22 so the statement that they offered to fix the door is not true.

March 12 Winmar started remediation work on my residence. Removed outside door and dropped and again against metal posts in gazebo. After three days I see many dents and pieces of doors sweep under gazebo. I witness outside door being pushed and almost bent in half and banged against with no care to my property. By end of Friday mud on doors/doorframes/landing walls/ walls up steps and hand rail and doors are damaged.

When I tried to ask questions on March 12 to *** I just told stay upstairs and be quiet and let the men do their work. I felt very uncomfortable in my own home at this point and afraid.
March 13th - my witness arrives (retired RCMP) and was on my premises till 23 March.

March 14 *** of Winmar asked me to sign on his computer to verify they did all the work as per the estimate. I asked to see the estimate and he stepped into my personal space and yelled at me to sign. I started to cry and my witness told *** to leave the premises.

March 15th, by email, I informed the insurance company that both my doors were damaged by Winmar and outside screen door no longer even closes and inside door is full of dents and you could see light underneath the door and door sweep wrecked.

March 15 both doors are damaged and no one but Winmar has been working on the property right up until 22 March.

On March 18th I received a response from the adjuster to my email of March 15th, and I thought that my doors would be covered under insurance.

***

March 20 adjuster came to my property to discuss issues about Winmar.

March 31 a formal complaint was sent to Franchise about business tactics and a response was received about 4 April that they investigate. NIL response since

June 24 put the doors on my statement of loss that went to insurance company
July 30 - informed by insurance they would not cover doors as damage was not created by flood but by Winmar.
July 30 emailed Winmar to correct address, as per their website, requesting they pay for my doors including the door sweep. NIL response.

Main door was taken off by Winmar each day and dropped against the metal poles holding up my gazebo. My witness and I both watched them do that as well as drag the door around as it is heavy. Each day we saw more pieces of door sweep on cement outside.

I want them to pay to replace both my doors and door sweep. I do not want them on my property

WINMAR Property Restoration Specialists Response • Nov 13, 2019

Winmar agrees to pay the $637.00 for the repairs as per the clients email stating the cost to replace/repair - see attached

Client request that Winmar is not the contractor to replace this so this will be their responsibility to complete - once proof of completed work is submitted via Revdex.com we will issue payment to the client in the amount of no more than $637.00

Colour Photos showing the completed repairs/replacement will be considered proof of completion. Photos required - exterior view of storm door complete - interior view of storm door complete - exterior view of man door complete - interior view of man door complete - 4 images, any additional would be appreciated.

All repairs must be completed before the end of December 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As per the request to Winmar (referenced in complaint) and complaint to Revdex.com, the resolution is to include the cost of install and cost of doors. *** It is good they accept responsibility for damages. I am happy to provide quotes from local established business to provide the doors and the install.
