With regard to the [redacted]'s response, I in no way agree. The $500 was given to hold the date, as I stated in my complaint. The issue remains that there was no formal contract given nor anything mentioned that the $500 is non refundable. This was a simple step missed on his part, if he so chooses to express the fact that this has always been his "policy". If this is indeed the case, there would be a contract given for every client.
We were not told nor given anything in writing that our $500 was non refundable and therefore are still requesting our money back in-full.

[redacted] gave me a five hundred dollar non-refundable retainer fee to secure a start date for his finished basement project. I have received these retainers for years to secure work. By him changing his mind, I not only lost his job, but also other...
potential clients because of time frames. These retainers secure not only my livelihood, but, my employees as well. That is why they are not and will never be refundable. I have been in business for twenty five years and never had one complaint.
