Wireless Zone Corporate Reviews (2)

Review: My wife and I went to the Wireless Zone at 68 Newtown Rd. in Danbury, CT (XXX)XXX-XXXX on 1/12/13 to upgrade our cell phones. We were not aware that this was not an official Verizon Corporate store. There we met with salesman [redacted] Brown who sold us our devices and wireless plans. We were told that the phones we were buying were brand new. Not only the newest and best technology, but brand new - never used phones. A few months after purchasing these devices I began to have issues. The issues became severe so we went to a closer Verizon Store to have them looked at. (ex. my phone randomly deleted all of my contacts)At the official Verizon corporate store they ran the pin numbers for the phones to get the phone's histories. It turns out my phone was two years old and had two previous owners. My wife's phone had one previous owner. Keep in mind that these phones were sold to us as "brand new" and "never used" not to mention being the "latest technology". Two years old with two previous owners is not new, nor new technology.I initially went to the store because I was having technical issues with my old phone and I wanted to upgrade. Mr. Brown spent time with me and my wife describing how our current phones were out of date, and how these new phones that he was selling us would be so much better. Now we are locked into a two year agreement with phones that are out of date and previously used. This is an issue because my phone especially is having major issues. My wife just gave birth to our first daughter Monday 7/15/13 and it is frustrating and dangerous when our phones are malfunctioning.

I would like both phones replaced with phones of our choosing that are guaranteed brand new with no previous owners. The replacement phones may exceed the price of the original phones as the original phones were out of date and refurbished. If this store cannot provide such phones then they will negotiate the replacement through an official corporate Verizon store. Replacement phones will be checked by official store. Also Wireless Zone will guarantee not penalties or disruption of service.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/08/12) */

Following is the response from our franchisee, Danbury Group II, LLC:

We spoke to the customer and addressed his issues/concerns. He was advised of options as well as offered him a new device as a sign of good faith. The customer does not want new devices, he is planning to come into the Danbury location to go over some questions he has with the phone. His main concern was that the phone seemed to be slow/freezing. When he comes in we will run a diagnostic on the phone and make adjustments as needed. If he is not satisfied he will then take a new device.

Review: My name is [redacted] I am an authorized user on my mothers account [redacted]. My phone number is ###-###-####. Last Thursday (December 10, 2015) my father [redacted] went **o the wireless zone store in Tolland, CT (his number ###-###-####) to upgrade his phone since he broke his old one. He wanted to get a new phone. He is not an authorized user on the account nor is his name anywhere on the account. (For a reason) Wireless zone attempted to contact myself and my sister who is also an authorized user on the account to obtain permission to process an upgrade. We both did not answer as we were at work. All my father provided was an ID with his name on it and the wireless zone employee broke our account security and went ahead and processed this request for him without any authorization. Verizon wireless broke contract with us and gave out account information, processed an upgrade, and added a new line to the account without any authorization from my mother, myself or my sister. My mother (the account holder) was in absolute disgust, after being a customer of Verizon wireless for more than 10 years(loyal at that!) Verizon wireless breached her account completely. She had to jump through hopes to allow myself and my sister to become authorized users, yet my father walked right in and obtained an upgraded device and new life of a tablet. After finding this out, my mother went into the store to talk to them as did myself. We spoke with Greg T[redacted] who apologized many times for many this huge mistake and said they'd fix it. We felt violated and trust broken with Verizon. For this huge breach of account security, all we asked was for our account to be closed and termination fees paid for. Greg T[redacted] (manager) of wireless zone contacted Verizon customer service and was told this falls on the stores fault. He then advised me he would contact me Monday morning after speaking to his district manager. Monday morning came... No word from Greg. I contacted him several times, finally he called me back. Greg advised me that they came reverse the upgrade and discontinue the new line but that's it. I asked about cancelling my account and fees and he said I had to contact Verizon customer service, he couldn't do anything else. He did inform me tho, the employee that processed this transaction was to be terminated. I have spent hours and days called Verizon 10+ times and hours at a time filing cases and speaking to multiple customer service reps and supervisors. No one will provide me with real information and basically telling me it's my fault and they will not cover any fees. This is ridiculous. We have been customers for over 10 years, always paid the bill, and never had a problem with Verizon. Then they let an unauthorized user access our account without permission and it's being blamed on us. We lost trust in Verizon to protect our account so we want to cancel it. Yet, the common courtesy (and compensation for the aggravation) thing to do to avoid legal action would be to cover the termination fees and let us cancel our contract. Verizon broke a legal binding contract so we should not be held accountable for any fees of cancelling services. Please contact me via email [redacted] or by phone ###-###-####. Thank you.

-[redacted]Desired Settlement: Termination fees paid for and cancelling of account.
