We had a home inspection performed by our new Insurance Company and found out that our Federal Pacific Electric Panel was not safe (based on their experience) and that our new Insurance Company was giving us days to replace it or cancel our Home Owners InsuranceI had church members recommend Wischmeyer Electric to do this jobWischmeyer Electric took several days to respond to my voicemail messages requesting a bid for some electrical work*** called and scheduled a time to come by to review the work we wanted doneWhile getting other bids we found out the NEW codes don't allow Electric Panels to be in a closetI called and spoke to the city inspector and showed him photos of the closet and he said that we can leave the panel in the closed if we make some modificationsI explained all of this to *** when he came to give us a bid*** promptly submitted a bid the next day, including the wording that we (the customer) are to modify the closet area around breaker panel location to satisfy city inspectorWe decided to hire Wischmeyer Electric so over the next several days I called twice and sent him an e-mail messages*** finally responded back "in an e-mail"In his e-mail he stated that he would not do the project due to his concerns about the new City Codes and not wanting to explain to the city inspector why he would try to get away with a non code installation and bear the responsibility for the installationWell ***, you certainly could have handled this in a more professional manner!
I never asked or expected you to do anything that would not be permissible with the city inspector and you certainly could have called and spoke to them directly, as I did, to find out if there are exceptions on older homes as mineIt may not have bothered me if this wasn't the last of bids and that I informed *** that my Home Owners insurance was going to be cancelled if this work was not completed in daysKinda left me hanging and scrambling to decide on a different company to perform the work so that I was not left facing cancellation of my Home Owners Insurance
