In response to this ID complaint I just want to take this time to say that we have received your email etc The problem is that we just received it this morning and not on July 5th like you have it dated as it was sent to the wrong store We are however working diligently to resolve this so if you could give us a few more days leeway that would be appreciated.-thank you

Review: I took my truck in to be repaired on Friday evening, May 3,2014 to Wisconsin Kenworth in Madison, WI. I was on my way to Lakeland, FL with a load when the clutch quit working so I felt this would be the place to take it to be repaired. They diagnosed the problem as a broken fork in the input shaft (clutch), but said that they would not be able to work on it until the following day. They did get it into the shop at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2014 and worked until 3:00 pm, when the told me they would need to push it back outside and would not be able to finish it until Monday, May, 5th. I stayed in my truck until 6:30 am Monday morning when they pushed it back inside and resumed working on it. At 11:00 they informed me they would not be able to fix it without tearing out the transmission. At this point I raised my arms in despair and told them I did not feel they knew what they were doing & to just push it back outside and I would get it to Eau Claire Truck & Trailer in Eau Claire, WI. I somehow managed to drive it back to Eau Claire without a clutch. I also had to hire someone to drive from St. Cloud, MN to Madison, WI with their tractor to hook on to my load and deliver it in Lakeland, FL since the repairs could not be done that day. This resulted in a loss of revenue of $3500 (after fuel cost) for not delivering the load - plus Wisconsin Kenworth made me pay $1,052.97 for the "repairs" (repair # [redacted] and [redacted]) (aka making the truck worse) they did before they would let me leave with the truck. When I arrived at Eau Claire Truck & Trailer, they fixed the problem in 2 hours and 15 minutes WITHOUT pulling the transmission and only charged me $400. Obviously, unlike Wisconsin Kenworth, they knew what they were doing. This entire episode ended up costing me almost $5000 (including repairs and lost revenue), when it should have been no more than $500. Above and beyond that, it has also cost me a lot of unnecessary stress and a very scary drive back to Eau Claire.Desired Settlement: At the very least, I would request reimbursement for the $1,052.97 that I was required to pay for the "work" they did on the truck. I also feel I am entitled to the $3500 in lost revenue.

Response:

[redacted] did arrive at our shop on Friday May 3rd. He did not have an appointment. We had a back log of 3 days at that time. The Foreman on Friday sent a Technician

out to look at the truck. Technician found the clutch release bearing fork on the transmission broken. This was done at no charge to the customer.Saturday around 11 am we did get a chance to pull this truck into our shop.

Technician removed the broken clutch fork on customers 1985 Freightliner. We had the new part in stock. Technician started to install. Normally the transmission needs to come out for this repair. We tried to install with out pulling transmission. We ran out of time on Saturday because we close at3.30 pm. Customer stayed in his truck until Monday morning. We pulled his truck back into our shop. Had 2 Technician's try and get the clutch fork installed. We did get it 1/2 way in but could not get the last bolt in. Customer was getting upset because he felt it was taking too much time. Foreman told customer the transmission had to be removed to complete this repair. Customer would not authorize removing the transmission. Customer said he had to go. We informed the customer the clutch would be inoperable if he took the truck. He was will to take the risk.

Customer drove truck to Eau Claire Truck and Trailer. I called and spoke with [redacted] at Eau Claire Truck and Trailer. [redacted] said they got lucky on this repair. Normally we would have had to pull the transmission to replace the clutch release bearing fork but his Technician was able to remove the release bearing out of the way and get the last bolt installed.

We did him a favor by squeezing him in to our already busy schedule. I already made a labor adjustment on this bill and customer was ok with it when he left our building.
