My mother was in this facility for a few days She was supposed to be there for at least a month It was so bad that she requested to be allowed to go home instead of staying there where she, supposedly, could be cared for Facility was dirty Bathroom sink was stopped up, and bathroom floor was flooded Food was horrendous, and often cold when served Nursing staff was very inattentive, seemed not to care at all for the welfare of their charges Medications not delivered on schedule
My mother in law had a ankle replacement surgery on a Wednesday and Friday night was released to the care of this so called nursing facility She arrived at Desert Cover around P.Mon Friday night, Saturday morning around 10:when we called to check on her no one had been in her room to speak with her or feed her or anything My husband then called and proceeded to tell the staff to take her blood pressure and check on her We ended at that facility around 2:PM, her room smelled and she looked lethargic and very tired, she wasn't make sense in what she was saying and the topper is that they kept giving her meds with no solid food in her stomach, she began to throw up!!!! She then explained that they gave her an old sandwich that was stale and not good at all We had to leave but felt very uncomfortable doing so We received a phone call from my sister in law a couple hours later stating that my mother in law was still throwing up and that the nursing staff came in and gave her another pill which makes no sense, since my mom in law was puking everything up, by this time it was around 7ish and still no one had been in there checking her blood pressure We began calling the nurses station and no answer and then we began calling my mom in laws room, the assistant named *** answer "she'll have to call you back" my husband of course told her if that was anyway to answer the phone Then the nurse, *** gave us an attitude when we questioned their practices! We ended up calling an ambulance to pick her up, they transported her back to the hospital where she was evaluated for stroke symptoms and is being treated for severe dehydration and the vomiting (probably from that week old crappy sandwich) Later Saturday night my sis in law went back to Desert Cove to retrieve my mother in laws things, only to find the police being there due to family members of another patient raising hell in there due to the mistreatment of their family member This place is horrible!!!!
