With Pride Air Conditioning and Heating Reviews (2)

Review: [redacted] of with Pride Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. installed a brand new HVAC system in my home in October 2013. His installation was sloppy with parts hanging off; no filter placed in the unit, air leaks coming out from the installation, and worst of all the system is not heating my home.

The unit that was installed was not the correct size for the capacity of the vents in the house and considerably larger than was there prior. [redacted] also represented that he would be able to secure me a rebate from LIPA for the installation of a new high efficiency unit. That paperwork was never completed, and when I contacted LIPA directly they informed me that [redacted] was not an approved contractor. [redacted] also informed me prior to installation that he had a 24 hour service. When problems started after installation, I called his # and there was no response, as there was no service that existed.

A Humidifier was installed to the unit and does not put out any humidity; another Humidifier was placed in my other zone up-stairs without drainage creating a dangerous situation for flooding. A Thermostat was also installed incorrectly up-stairs that died within a week creating a situation where I had no heat on the floor with my three young children all under 8 years old. After the new Thermostat was installed I was told that it was wired incorrectly running on Emergency heat rather than the Heat pump it should run on and that that it was not insulated creating a draft through the Thermostat that created a false reading.

Prior to installation, I told [redacted] that I was concerned about the size of the unit as compared to the prior unit, the brand that he was using, and also discussed concerns regarding the Humidifiers. These went on deaf ears as [redacted] installed the unit he wanted without my consent.

After the installation was complete I contacted [redacted] several times regarding my concern that the unit was not the correct size or brand that I wanted and most importantly was not heating my home, and to request all of the warranty paperwork on the unit that I needed and was promised. I have still not received any of the warranty paperwork on the unit. [redacted] came back begrudgingly after several calls and texts and informed me that the system was perfect and that it is not heating my home is my problem not his work. I told [redacted] that I hired him as an HVAC expert to analyze the HVAC needs of my home and install the correct system that would sufficiently heat and cool my home.

The problem continued to exist and became worse as it got colder. I contacted [redacted] Several times as my home was freezing, He told me that he was not coming back and to call the manufacture if I had an issue. When calling the # he gave me I found that it was his distributor, not the manufacturer. They did not understand why I was calling them as they do not deal with customers and would not help me. [redacted] had to be convinced to even return my calls by a third party upon the threat of legal action when the Thermostat died. I had to hire another HVAC expert as I was concerned if [redacted] would show up and based on the current situation at the time whether he could fix the problem. After another HVAC repairman replaced the Thermostat I requested the Bill of Sale for the Thermostat. [redacted] refused to supply me the receipt of purchase when damaged and told me to return it to Home Depot.

My home is still not being heated correctly, and I have had to resort to secondary heating systems and bringing in additional HVAC companies at considerable cost to repair the Thermostat and to help resolve my HVAC issues.Desired Settlement: Most importantly, I need to have a system that will warm my home for my family.

I would like to get the LIPA rebate that I deserve.

All of the necessary paperwork on the system.

The correct sized system installed correctly free of leaks and issues.

Humidifiers that work and do not create a dangerous situation.

Response:

With Pride heating and air conditioning was hired by, [redacted] to replace an existing air handler and heat pump condenser at, [redacted]. The existing unit was currently servicing the first floor only. Included in the agreed upon contract price was, a 14.5 seer air handler and a new 14.5 seer condenser. The customers existing tonnage on the system was 42000 Btu's. The unit agreed upon was a 42,000 Btu air handler matched up with a 60000 Btu condenser. This combination brings you to a 14.5 seer energy rating designed by, York engineers. With pride was not hired to replace duct work or reroute duct work. Prior to leaving the premises, we checked the system and the system was working 100%, blowing out over 120 degree air in heating mode. The kitchen and living room were always slightly cooler than other rooms, when [redacted] asked what could be done to correct this, I explained, the only way to resolve this was t he rip down the existing ceiling and replace and reroute the existing duct work. This service could be done for an additional charge. [redacted] did not agree to the terms therefor, the system was left as is. I continuously made efforts to work with, [redacted] to resolve any complaints however, being he did not want to take my professional opinion on the matter and replace the existing duct work, the kitchen and living room would remain slightly cooler. I checked the new system put in place 5 times, and all inspections revealed the system to be operating efficiently.

Made a typo in statement we install a 60,000 air handler and 42,000 condenser to give us 14.5 seer. Not the other way around. Thanks

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

1) The Installation was done extremely sloppy in all areas by With Pride and with no regard for the set up of my home. [redacted] made his recommendation after the installation as a way of generating additional income instead of the analyzing the system which is what he was hired to do and assess the needs. He also told me that it was not something that he wanted to be involved in.

2) I requested and paid for a high efficiency unit as my home is completely Electric. That type of System would have to be over 15 Seer which is what I requested, in-fact what was agreed to was a 16 Seer system. I had no paperwork from the company to verify this information after requesting it several times. I was only made aware of this deficiency by a NYSERTA and PSEG inspector who told me that I did not qualify for the rebate due to the fact that the system was not high efficiency and 14.5 seer as [redacted] Stated. That difference cost me $1500 in a rebate.

3)[redacted] installed Humidifies that do not work and were not set up properly. The Bottom unit does not affect the Humidity in the home at all and was turned off as it is a piece of junk. The upstairs unit was set-up with no mechanism for draining and creates a considerable hazard for freezing, draining and leaking as it was set-up. This also had to be shut off.

4)He did not set up the Thermostats correctly either which created air leaks into the home and resulted in one of the Thermostats shorting out and having to be replaced leaving my children with no heat during the night time in the winter when the system went out. [redacted] refused to make the necessary replacement and I had to hire another individual at a cost of $380 to fix the leak, re-wire the thermostat and replace.

5)[redacted] represented his company as 24 Hours with a service set up for emergencies which was false. Trying to get a hold of [redacted] was extremely challenging once he had received payment.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: My home was devestated by superstorm sandy on 10/**/12.My boiler & hot water heater needed to be replaced so my public adjuster that I hired to help me with my flood insurance claim highly recommended me to WITH PRIDE Air Conditioning & Heating Co. [redacted], proprietor of WITH PRIDE came to my home on 11/**/12 to install a new "slant fin" boiler & hot water heater. [redacted] charged me $7,500.00 for his services.I noticed the next day on 11/**/12 that the cement he set around the flu pipe that vents through the wall was all cracked throughout. It took 1 week before [redacted] came to my home to repair the cement. On 4/**/13 I lost all hot water in my home.I made multiple attempts to contact [redacted] to repair the boiler but to no avail he never returned my calls. Consequently, on 4/**/13 I contacted Lewis Energy Emergency Response to come to repair the boiler. The technician from Lewis Energy ([redacted]) came and repaired a multitude of issues which include the purging of 2 zones, several fittings were leaking that were not sealed properly with thread tape. [redacted] also documented that the boiler installation was very "sloppy" & this particular boiler is not a very "serviceable" boiler. What distressed me the most was that [redacted] indicated there had been no evidence within or outside this boiler of a "low water cut-off" which is mandatory by town code. On 5/**/13 I lost all hot water again.I tried once more to contact [redacted] but he never responded. So yet again I proceeded to contact Lewis Energy. The technician [redacted] said there was carbon on the nozzle & electrodes of the injection system that needed cleaning. He also needed to tighten a loose fitting on the oil filter which had been leaking oil on my floor. He also indicated to me about the absence of the low water cut-off.Again to my surprise on 6/*/13 I lost all hot water.Lewis Energy came & purged the INDIRECT zone of the boiler to get my hot water back. This entire experience has been nothing less than atrocity.Desired Settlement: At this point in time I would like a full refund for the cost of the boiler considering the boiler is only 6 months old & has needed to be repaired 4 times to date. There is a code concern with no low water cut-off which can be installed but will cost me hundreds of dollars out of pocket. I am concerned that this boiler is a defective system which has been previously documented that it is barely serviceable & was sloppily & unprofessionally installed. I will have a new one installed upon refund
