purchased a gas cooktop and called for quote for gas hookup. ( gas line was already available) Would not quote over the phone. Upon arrival at the house the estimate was given to be $595 with a $49 discount for getting there name off SW gas website. So they wanted $546 for one gas line hookup with gas line already available. Is this a ripoff or are there plumber really worth that much?

W.J. Maloney Plumbing was very courteous and professional in all aspects, whether phone or service personnel. I am totally impressed in a very short time by this company.

We were called in to provide an estimate and possible make repairs to water line under her home. A technician was dispatched to her home and we determined that nothing could be done at that time. Our technician had to get another technician out for safety reasons so that he can locate the leak under...

the manufactured home. There was no charge or diagnositcs fee assessed to her as we were unable to meet her service needs on May 23. On May 27th I recieved a call from Francine inquiring about pricing, and if we can send another technician out at that time. With a full schedule board set in place I managed to move some things around to take care of this customer immediately. We had a technician to her within the hour. Prior to diagnosis the customer signs an authorization for diagnosis and requires a signature that you agree to pay a diagnositics fee of $49.95 that is waived when work gets started. After diagnosis, the homeowner was made aware of the fee before I sent the technician out as I did inform her at time of scheduling. We did recieve a call from homeowners daughter stating that they were unsatisfied with our Company and would be calling the Revdex.com. A follow up was made to [redacted] home on June 2nd to make repairs to access door panel. We did not charge for any of the service calls that were made to her home that week. I had 3 different technicians out to try and help out the situation and get her back up and running with water, we just were unable to satisfy the customer. On June 2nd we were able to rectify the damage that was made to her panel and believed that Mrs. Vinze was satisfied with our repairs and did sign off on the repairs we made for her at No cost. We hope that all of our efforts in pleasing this customer were met. [redacted]A/R Service Dept

Attempted fraud is all I can think. I am the president of a small HOA. We needed our sprinkler PVB (antibackflow valve) certified. The plumbers who did the testing said the valve failed the test and they would install a new one for $931. The same company had installed the original new valve 2 years earlier for about $600. I spoke with the "service manager". He tried to convince me that the Phoenix water quality had destroyed the valve and it wasn't worth repairing. I told him I thought that was a smoke screen.

I did my homework and found I could buy the exact same valve at Home Depot for under $100, or I could buy a repair kit for about $60. Then I went to the valve and disassembled it. It looked pristine without any corrosion or slime. I reassembled the valve (assembly and reassembly only took me 20 minutes, and I've never done it before).

Since I couldn't do the test or the certification required by the city, I contacted Western Backflow. They tested the valve, which passed without repair or adjustment and filed the certification with the City of Phoenix. The cost was $75.

This company was recently bought by another company. They may have been honest and reliable in the past. Look at the dates of the bad reviews... all in 2016.

Review: It was my misfortune to have the W J Maloney Plumbing company come to my home to repair a faucet and to install a new hose in my dishwasher and I was fleeced royally by these people. They charged excessive fees and are most unethical.

The faucet repair was $187 50 . The new hose was 475.00. Total bill was $696.28 for work that should be a 3rd of that. Then their service man "[redacted]" had the audacity to tell me my garbage disposal was full of hoies and not to use it. A more reputable plumber replaced the disposal and said there was nothing wrong with the old one and there were no holes in it. This unnecessary cost was $240. The new plumber said the work referenced above would have cost a total of $200 plus tax by their firm, Delta Mechanical.

Cc: [redacted].

If W J Maloney is a member of the Revdex.com, they should be removed. These shameless people are most devious and unethical.Desired Settlement: see Attached document

Review: On May 23rd, 2014 at 9:17 a.m. my mother called W. J. Maloney Plumbing to fix a water leak underneath her manufactured home. They sent a technician out, who was unprepared. My mother had to loan the technician her flashlight, and he shined the light under the crawlspace without going all the way under. Needless to say he did not see anything. He told her we needed to rent a locator for $250 in order to figure out where the leak was. He did not know if it would read where the leak was through our floors. She asked him why doesn't he go underneath to see where it it. Instead, he went to the front of the house and by the water shut off valve she has a very small entryway to the crawl space beneath her home made of wood and wire. He said he needed to break that in order to see down there. My mother told him to unscrew it, rather than break it. He said the screws were stripped and he couldn't, and swung his hammer and broke it, splintering the wood. Then he was going to go to the next one and break that too. My mother told him to stop. He then said he couldn't see down there anyway, because a piece of iron was blocking his view. He then said this is a two-man job, and my mother would have to wait until June 2nd because he had a training on Friday. Meanwhile, my mother and her family would have to live without water.

My mother called again at 11:53 a.m. on May 26th, and spoke to the answering service. She told them she could not continue to live without water. That this is a real hardship, and she didn't think they had good customer service, because she is a repeat customer of theirs, as is my Aunt, and why would they expect loyal customers to live without water for more than a week? They said they would have someone call her the following day, May 27th. She told them she was fearful that since they felt she could wait more than a week without water, that maybe they wouldn't call until late in the day. She said if they did not call by 9:00 a.m. on May 27th, she was taking her business elsewhere. She also told them that her daughter's friend went under the home and located the leak about 12 ft from the backyard spigot. About ten to fifteen minutes later, after speaking to the answering service, she received a call from a service manager. She told him that she was not expecting a call until the following day. He says to my mother that he was called at home, and my mother told him the reason why she thinks they called him at home was because she thought W. J. Maloney Plumbing had bad customer service, and that it was awful that they would expect a whole family to go without water for more than a week and that her daughter's friend located the leak to hopefully move repairs along. He responds saying he only has eight plumbers, and that he would have to push a bunch of customers back to take care of my mother. My mother told him that made her feel like an imposition, as if she is burdening the company. He tells her there are some people just getting a faucet changed so he could maybe squeeze her in. My mother told him again that by his tone of voice and comments she felt as though she was putting him out, and that there are other companies that would be willing to help her with her problem. In addition, if there were people just getting a faucet change why couldn't they have scheduled her at an earlier date? He said 'No, it's okay, we'll fix it.' She then told him again, if she does not receive a call by 9:00 a.m. on May 27th, she was going to go with another company. He continued to make her feel like a prima dona. Meanwhile, my mother still cannot flush her toilet, take a shower, wash her dishes, or wash her floors or hair. Reluctantly, she agreed to wait for the call by May 27th in hopes she would get satisfaction.

On May 27th, which is also my mother's birthday, they called around 8:00 a.m. and told her someone would be coming. They called at 9:38 a.m. and said he was on his way. He arrived at 10:10, and sat in his truck a while before proceeding to greet my mother, who was waiting outside to greet him. She said she was glad he was there, and then told him the leak was about 12 feet from the back yard spigot according to her daughter's friend. At the entry point, he shined his flashlight and said he couldn't see anything. Then he tells my mother it's going to be a two-man job, and has to call his boss. He calls his boss and started talking about another customer and how she had tenants, and about how they were going to resolve her problem, and spoke for a while about this other customer's problem. This action made my mother again, feel like her water concerns were very unimportant to Maloney. The technician again said it was a two-man job, the boss said okay, and they got off the phone. He then told my mother that he has to wait for the other man to get there before beginning repairs. My mother asked if it would be a few hours, because she felt like they wanted to take off and help someone else, because they did not seem interested in helping her. He says that this would not be the case, and that the other man was coming from [redacted] and [redacted] and that he was a helper, and it would take him 30 minutes or so to get there. He also added that my mother has to pay $130/hr. My mother asks if the cost of service begins when the other man arrived and they begin working. He replies 'No, from when I arrived.' My mother says 'Oh, you've been here about five minutes or so, so beginning now?' He replies 'No, from 10:03.' My mother told him to hold on, she needed to make a call. This is when my mother calls me at work, extremely upset. I had to interrupt an important meeting with one of my clients to take her call. While my mother is on the phone with me, the technician calls the helper, and tells him not to come. Then, he interrupts my mother's phone call with me to pressure her! I heard him say, 'I told the guy not to come until you decide what you're going to do.' I told my mother to tell him to forget their services, and that we will get somebody else to help, because at this point, it is ridiculous what she has had to endure from this company. While I am on the phone, the technician tells my mother she has to pay $49.95 for diagnostics, for figuring out the problem. She asked him what he diagnosed. He responds, 'There is a charge for me to come out.' He was told that we were as not going to pay that, because he did not figure out the problem, we told him what and where it was! They did not listen, or seemed to care about our water concerns, they broke and shattered one of our narrow crawlspace entry points, they did not replace the covering they took off, and we've been living almost a week without water and were expected to go another full week plus they wanted to charge $130 an hour to waiting for the other man and charge a diagnostic fee for not even looking, going under or diagnosing. He said that my mother would have to call his manager, a man named [redacted]. He refused to provide his boss's number, and told my mom to call the general line. I told my mother I would handle it when I was off and home, so that she didn't have to endure further stress on her birthday.

I arrive home early, because I told my boss I had to leave early so that I could help my mother handle her issue with this company. First, I called another plumber, who came out and fixed it, and it only took one man for the other company to fix the issue within two hours, instead of making our family wait to have water.

True to my word, I called the general number and asked for [redacted]. The first person I had on the phone initially wanted me to provide name and number and wait for them to call, and I told her I would hold on for [redacted], because this is important. She attempted to ask me about the issue and I told her what had happened. She again tried to make me leave a message and wait for a call. I told her again I would hold. She transfers me to a woman named [redacted], who refused to listen to me. She continuously spoke over me, and I had to tell her repeatedly that I needed her to listen to me about my problem. Finally, after the third time of my asking her to listen, she was somewhat quiet, but kept saying 'yeah' 'mm-hmm' 'okay' throughout my attempt to communicate my problem to her. When I finished speaking, she asked if I would be willing to listen to the service side of the story. I said sure, figuring that W. J. Maloney Plumbing and [redacted], who identified herself as a service manager, would then provide me with an apology for the way my mother was treated and possibly a resolution. Instead, [redacted] told me that I needed to understand they are a busy company and that I was wrong. She said there was no record of the service manager calling my mother from his house, because they would have made a notation. Secondly, for them to even look at the problem, my mother would have been told and would have had to sign paperwork stating she agreed to a $49.95 service fee. (My mother did not see or sign any paperwork, and this service fee was never communicated to her.) I advised [redacted] that there was absolutely no paperwork on the first or second visit, and they did not even provide a service because we told them what the problem was and where it was located, so my mother would not be paying their fee. [redacted] told me that 'it is what it is, and your mother received a service, so she has to. The technician never began the job, because your mother did not authorize the technician to begin.' I responded that it was ridiculous for them to think that my mother was going to pay a man $130/hr to just stand there and wait for another man to show up, before even beginning work.' [redacted] told me I was wrong, and that as someone who also works in service, I should understand. I was so fed up at this point by the relentless disrespect and bullying I was receiving, and that my mother had received, that I told [redacted] to have a nice day, and promptly hung up.

I know that myself, my family, and all of my friends will never do business with this company ever again.Desired Settlement: I want W. J. Maloney Plumbing to fix the part of my mother's house that they broke and I also want to ensure she is not billed for a service that was not provided, as well as any service fees that may be associated.
