I reserved wheelchair transport services for my mother for my brother's burial almost two weeks before the event. I also confirmed the reservation the day before, as this was obviously a very serious event for my mother. When the driver had not shown up 5 minutes after the pick-up time, I called to inquire and the representative said "the driver's only two minutes late, he'll be there." In fact he was five minutes late.
Then when I called after waiting 10 minutes beyond the agreed-upon pick-up time, the same representative said "mam, the driver is going to be there in two minutes. He is on his way. Thank you very much." And then she HUNG UP ON ME!
In fact the driver showed up 15 minutes late, and as a result, we were five minutes late to the burial service. The representative's behavior is inexcusable in light of such a sad event, and the company's inability to meet their commitment is also unacceptable.
Please know, though, the driver did everything he could to make up time. But he also reported he had not been booked in advance, and there was no way he could have made the appointment in time based upon the time he was called to come and get us.
Again, my mother was burying my brother. To be treated in this fashion was stressful and devastating to us both. I hope this never happens to another grieving family.
