Thank you very much for your letter of May 15, 2017 regarding the above-referenced matter.  The correspondence which you received from Mr. [redacted] indicated that his family had paid us a total of $1,500.00 for legal services in connection with real estate, an estate, and Medicaid services, partly relating to the transfer of property and a Medicaid Application. Mr. [redacted] believed that nothing had been done in connection with his case.  Quite to the contrary, our office had been working to advance the Medicaid Application in conjunction with the [redacted] House Nursing Home and their representative. Although it took several months, the Medicaid Application for an ill family member was just approved within the last week, and that matter was concluded.  It was part of our original plan to do nothing with respect to an Estate-related real estate matter until the Medicaid Application was resolved. There were specific reasons for this which my clients understood, but which I will not reiterate at this point Now that the MedicaidApplication was approved, we are proceeding to work on the real estate aspect of the problem. Due to a very old Will which had never been admitted to Probate, and also because the Will itself creates a Trust with some very unclear provisions, it will take some time to resolve the real estate matter and determine whether in fact we need to administer an Estate. If we determine that we can avoid this process, it may be possible to resolve this real estate component of this work through the use of simple Quit-Claim Deeds, which would be less expensive and much more expedient.  I recently met with Ms. [redacted] who had originally retained me in this matter, and explained to her and Mr. [redacted] exactly what had transpired, advised them of the success of the Medicaid Application, and explained why we could only now (after the approval of Medicaid) proceed with resolving the real estate matter. They seemed completely satisfied and asked me to continue to move forward.  I spoke with Mr. [redacted] about his complaint, and explained to him why this matter had taken the time that it did. He seemed completely satisfied at this point, and indicated that he would advise you he would like to withdraw the complaint, or advise that the problem had been resolved to his satisfaction. (I am uncertain as to exactly how your internal procedures work). I am forwarding a copy of this correspondence to Mr. [redacted] with the hope that this matter can be considered resolved.
