Wolf Siding & Windows Reviews (4)

I ordered windows in Sept 2014 and after many calls that were not answered they were installed on Dec 18 2014. The next day we noticed that one of the windows has a stress crack, we called the contracter and since then nothing has been done. We have not notified the window mfg and the problem is still not rectified. this contractor has not done anything for us and the windows have a lifetime warenty It has now been nine months since they were ordered. I would not recommend this contractor to my worst enemy.

Review: July 7, 2014

In the fall of 2005 we paid $19,892 to Wolf Siding and Windows for a new roof and gutters. We took all the suggestions [redacted] made and had all repair work done that he suggested including replacement of some rotted wood. We ordered 30 year shingles and our goal was to have a solid roof. At no time did we quibble about anything with his bill. We paid as requested. We were respectful and polite in 2005 and this past six months when calling and trying to correct the following problem.

In November of 2013 I called [redacted] to tell him our roof was leaking into the attic and even caused some damage in our upstairs hallway, so the leaking was significant. I also noted that there looked to be rotten wood in the area that was leaking. Because of the weather, we agreed to wait until April. I called again and [redacted] came out and looked inside the attic.and he saw the damage. He told me he would be sending someone over to get on the roof. He also mentioned he could help me with some draft problems with a new door and better windows. I said I needed to get my roof fixed before I could consider that. Several weeks went by and he had not sent anyone. I called again and he sent [redacted] that day. [redacted] went up on the roof and here is what he said: “I found that the shingles were not caulked properly in 7 places. I ran a bead of caulk in all those places and hope that will do it but won’t be able to tell until we get more rain. It was rookie mistakes, it wasn’t caulked correctly.” I asked him to tell that all to [redacted]. I asked him to ask [redacted] what we would need to do about fixing the rotten wood.

[redacted] did not call me so I called him. It was a week or so later. No the roof hadn’t leaked more.

He would get back to me about the wood. I then called a few weeks later and said that we were getting some more leaking in attic. After that, I called six times and he didn’t return any of my messages. We have continued to have leaking which we are managing with plastic tarps and buckets. It isn’t as significant as before [redacted] came, but it is visilble in two buckets, and we have about 3 square feet of rotten wood right where it is leaking.

I want [redacted] to stand behind the roofing job we paid for and to stand behind his employee’s finding. Yes it has been 8 years, but obviously the roof has been leaking for sometime now or the wood could not be rotted. I would be willing to negotiate. Should he do the work for free? I would think the labor should be free since it was not up to par to begin with. I would negotiate for materials, but he has not talked to me, let alone give me a proposal to start from.

I am hoping that by contacting the Revdex.com and filing a complaint, [redacted] will settle this problem with us. We want our roof repaired as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

We had been referred to him by a reputable contractor and were told that Wolf Siding and Windows is a reputable company. Please stand behind that.Desired Settlement: Our roof will be repaired within 30 days. The rotten wood will be replaced. [redacted] will inspect the work done by his crew.

Response:

we roofed this house 8 years ago . there have been no leaks until now. our labor warranty is gone . we did go take a look and found no issue with roof. we think it is coming thru dormer windows. I will call her and we will look at it one more time at our expense.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Earlier this summer [redacted] from Wolf Siding and Windows was contacted by Revdex.com regarding our leaking roof and stated he would contact us to help resolve the situation. He has never contacted us. He has two of our phone numbers but we have not heard from him. He stated in his reply to our earlier concern that the leak in the attic was from dormer windows. His own employee said that is not the case. What his employee did in the spring when he came to look seems to have helped but there is still leaking as of this last rain and we still have rotten wood. The employee even said he hoped this would help but wasn't sure if he got it all. [redacted] states that 8 years is past his labor agreement. The wood that is rotten now had to have started years ago. We didn't see the rotten wood in attic until the leaks started. Also, [redacted] has never offered even to negotiate to help me get this fixed. I did. I asked him to work something out with me. Due to the shortage in roofers, now by the time I get this fixed by someone else, I will be facing a much larger problem. Bottom line he has not called and talked to me. We paid over $19000 for a roof and gutters and NEVER quibbled on the price assuming we were getting a quality job. He has not responded to what his own employee told me was the problem created by their "rookie mistakes." He has not done what he told the Revdex.com he would do.

Review: Had new bow window replaced by this company in 2010. 2 months ago noticed the sill inside the home is black and bubbly. Have been calling at least weekly for 2 months and no calls have been returned.Desired Settlement: To have owner of Wolf Siding and Window return our phone calls and repair damage that has been caused by an improper window replacement.

Response:

customer will be contacted today. we will look at window and see what problem may be . based on age of window and no issues until now , I assume it is not an installation issue.thanks [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I saw that [redacted] responded to the complaint by saying he would call us today (which was 10/19/14) and stop by our home. As of now, we still have not heard from him. We have now reported this to our insurance company and they are attempting to contact him. They, along with another carpenter, both agree that this may be something that would be covered by the window company as it may have been defective from the company. If he would just take a look at this he could see why it would have taken some time for the water damage to occur.

Review: We contracted with Wolf Siding for new windows and doors for our entire house (with the exception of 1 door) in May of 2013. They were to be installed in late June or early July. The initial installation included 2 broken windows, which was done in mid-July. During this install, our siding was scratched around every window. The paint (with a lifetime warranty) was chipping off all windows. All windows were reordered and reinstalled in September. The job still is not complete. We have provided photos of all the scratches and open gaps around the windows. They have not completed the master bedroom and living room windows. The master bedroom window does not close completely. There is hardware missing on a bedroom window. Broke several shrubs in front of window. Red adhesive around master bedroom window exterior. The bathroom window cracked this week. We have called multiple times since the 2nd install with no response from [redacted].Desired Settlement: At this point, we feel their workmanship is very poor. So, we want the faulty windows and missing parts reordered so we can have another company install. We want compensation to pay another company to complete the job and to have the siding replaced.

morning this is [redacted] with wolf siding. we have had issues with the windows from the manufacturer and they have stood behind them and we replaced them. thru it all we have been in contact with [redacted]s and did a final walk thru. after the walk thru [redacted]s indicated a few things they would like done differently, some agreeable and some unrealistic. we agreed to correct all of there complaints. and told them we would give them a call when the weather cooperates. my salesman talk to them when they sent the first complaint assured them we will take care of it . the issue with the windows from the manufacturer started the issue and then it just snowballed. we will contact them today.

thanks [redacted] ###-###-####
