Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company Reviews (%countItem)

I had a claim denied from them as their client hit our unoccupied parked car in a parking lot. They said we can't prove their client was at least 50% at fault and our car was an unreasonable hazard as it was on the line. Well it's unreasonable that their client can't avoid hitting a parked car in a parking lot and they are 100% at fault. I have never understood how someone can hit a parked car in a parking lot and for them to say it's not 50% her fault is ridiculous!

Let me tell you DJS is correct. Not only are they incompetent, rude, and non professional, they LIE!!! Let me explain, my car got its windshield smashed out. It happened on a Sunday, late at night. I called the Munn agency first thing that morning, reported it, made a claim (spoke with Julie). This was back in May 2019, and it just so happened this week it rained, and rained, and rained, flooding my car with water. My car, a 2016, had a minimum of three inches of water standing on the floor boards, and my front seats were soaked. Did I forget to say THIS RAIN STARTED THREE DAYS AFTER MY CLAIM AND NO ONE CAME TO TARP THE CAR, despite me having sent Julie emails telling her my car was soaked. And it sat like this for 12 more days! I had a neighbor come look at it, as a witness..........and when the glass fellow came to replace the windshield, he said, and I quote, you have more of a problem now with all that water. This was the first $250.00. After myself shop vacing the car (which I had done several times over this 12 days, but it rained everyday) I month later my car reeked of mold (no surprise there) My claim adjuster at Wolverine was Autum. Autum called me and told me Rob would be coming to 'look' at my car, it was an 8am appointment at my house. I had gotten up early, and went to the store, came home and car sitting in driveway, windows had been wide open, Rob comes (he says he knocked on the door and I wasnt here, but I was here). Rob tells me 'there is no mold in that car.' A hum, I had taken this car to a specialized place that treats mold, and they AGREED there was mold...........but Rob saids no. I look into how one is suppose to check and determine mold, as Rob says 'he pulled the carpet back and didnt smell anything.' He never took off the seat covers, nor did he look at the seats which are FULL of foam (yes, I had reported this as well). To check to see if there is a mold issue, it is always best to have the car in a garage or the windows up so you can smell it. AS I HAD TOLD Rob, YOU NEED TO COME IN THE MORNING WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING CLOSED UP AND THERE IS NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. Of course, he fought me on this, he was wrong and I was right. So I asked him if he checked the seats and why he left the seat covers on? Got no answer. I again took the car to this specialized place, got a estimate, and they said yes, you have mold. I call and tell Rob. Weeks later no response. Call leave Rob another detailed message, again no response. So I call Autum and ask her whey Rob isnt calling me, and she says 'well Rob says he has not received any messages from you, you have not called him.' WHAT? I TELL her I want another adjustor, her comment 'well Rob is one of our best" my thought, this is your best? A guy who has to lie? Again, I tell Autum I want another adjuster, and I wanted to know what his education was in detecting mold. She says she will call Rob and talk to him.
Rob calls me, I send him the estimate from this specialized company, and what does Rob do, but call this company (the estimate was over $450.00) and TELL them that 'this can be done with a simple detailing.' He calls me and tells me the same (so now he admits there is an issue) BUT, my next deductible will be $250 and a detailing is $200 so they (wolverine) are not going to get
involved. See what he just did.
DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY..............save yourself the heartache and headache and go elsewhere. I had to smell mold for over a year..............and of course, Wolverine sided with their lying field adjuster Rob. I dare you wolverine to call me!

accident 8/30/19.the only information I get is if I call them.It was deemed not my fault and I still dont have my deductible back. why????
when I call Randi *** in claims dept. she gives me no details as to why it's taking so long. why?
it took until november to tell me it wasnt my fault. why?
the only information I received from them is that they decided my bills where not from the accident......
I have been with them for several years and have never had an issue.
they must be another company that takes your premiums but wont do anything to help you...you are on your own...

Desired Outcome

all I want is my rider paid for his cervical strain and my deductible back $500.00.

Contact Name and Title: David M. ***, VP
Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company paid this claim promptly and in full. We decided in favor of our insured as it relates to fault for the accident. We are making a subrogation claim for what we have paid and on behalf of our insured for their deductible. The insurer for the at fault party is doing he same thing against us and therefore refusing to pay the claim because they feel our insured is at fault. That is why we have not recovered the deductible. This was explained to the insured.

Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company Response • Oct 10, 2018

We have received and reviewed the complaint submitted by the insured on October 9, 2018. The insured complains that Wolverine "...decided to up our premiums b/c of a mistake they made."

We agree that we made a "mistake" in rating the insureds automobile insurance policy. We entered a typo into our system which saved the insured thousands of dollars in premiums over a nearly two year period from August of 2016 until June of 2018. The insured's son was accidentally rated as a 49 year old driver instead of as a teenager. Consequently, the insured enjoyed a substantial discount on their auto premiums from Wolverine until we were notified of our mistake by the independent insurance agency.

Once we became aware of the mistake on June 5, 2018 we updated the policy to correct our mistake moving forward and chose not to retroactively apply the endorsement to the other policy terms. This resulted in an increase of $1,282 to the insured's policy from June 5 until the policy would have expired on August 12. The insured chose to cancel their policy on July 3. Wolverine has billed them for premium owing from June 3 until July 3 which was $401.83.

We understand many families struggle to pay auto insurance for younger drivers. Here, through no fault of their own, the insured's and their teenage son enjoyed the full benefits of a Michigan no-fault policy from Wolverine for less than half of what they should have realistically expected to pay. There is nothing "shady" going on here. The insured still owes premium to Wolverine for the last month of coverage and we expect them to pay.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We had no idea that we were getting a so called discount rate, especially considering we are getting a huge discount now, far more than the Wolverine Insurance co. We were under the
Impression the employees at Wolverine knew what they were doing. We are now meeting with an
Attorney to see what our next step would be. Punishing us for their mistake is morally and professionally wrong.

Unauthorized policy agreement and billing
Complaint

On January 24,2018, I, *** went through Hopkins Insurance Agency who quoted me an insurance policy through Wolverine Mutual Insurance. After agreeing, I paid in full the $600 for the 6 month policy number: ***. A couple days later I received the insurance packet with all information. About a week later Wolverine notifies me that due to some points on my driving record they were terminating the policy. So I contacted Hopkins agency, which advised me that Wolverine would reimburse me my money and I would have to get another insurance policy.
About a month later Wolverine gave me $200 of the $600 that they received, explaining that they charged me over $1900 for the policy that they canceled within a week and I did not agree to accept and they pro-rated the policy. I contacted my credit card company and reported it as fraud and got my $600 back. By the way, I was still covered by Progressive insurance which was my previous insurance provider, as it didn't expire until March.
On May 7, 2018, I received a notice from Wolverine Insurance for a bill of $392 for that policy that they terminated. Again, at no time did I agree to any other policy that would cost me over $1900. In fact, since they terminated the agreement, the policy was canceled and I went with a different insurance. Wolverine Insurance is charging me for a policy that I did not agree to and I should not owe them anything since they terminated the agreement.

Desired Outcome

Dissolve the bill and no further contact.

Wolverine Mutual Insurance Company Response • May 04, 2018

After reviewing the complaint filed by the insured, it is noted that he omitted information that was material to the rating of his insurance policy. Had this information been properly disclosed by the insured we would have not offered insurance at the $600.00 price. However, once we issued the policy we are required to provide coverage to the insured so that they can obtain coverage elsewhere without a lapse. At no time did the insured provide proof of other coverage to us. Therefore, we billed him for the earned premium he owed us. Had the insured provided us with proof of coverage with another insurance company that covered the period we provided insurance we would have cancelled the policy back to its original date, essentially rescinded the policy, and he would have not owed us anything. A lack of disclosure on the policy form by the insured along with a lack of discussion with either his agent or the Company has resulted in the current situation. If proof of other coverage were to be provided to us now we would still cancel the policy back and the insured would not owe us anything.
