On April 28, 2020, *** came to the house to check out the leak in our dining room. We went outside to discuss what he was going to do. Without evening checking the roof from above he said he was going to cover the leak. I asked him if he was going to put a metal sheet between the wall on top and the roof on the first floor and he answered "yes". The also asked if he was going to put tar and he said "yes". The reason I specifically asked these questions is because we had the same problem in our other house and this is how they fixed the leak. The next morning I called him to say that it would look ugly in front of the house with the metal strip showing and the black tar. This is when he told me he was not touching the roof at all just patching up the hole. This is when I realized $ 500 was too much to pay for a simple patch up job. Besides, I did not feel that was the right thing to do.
I told him I was cancelling the job and asked that he return my $200 cash deposit. He refused to return my money. He said he already bougth the material (which I doubt bec.he was not doing the job until Saturday, May 1, 2020. ). Then I said just give me the material and the balance on my $200. He said if he gives me the material and cash change I still have to pay him $ 100. $ 100 for doing nothing ? When I gave him the $ 200 cash I asked for a receipt. He simply wrote on the back of his business card " Roofing fix. $ 500. Deposit $200. Balance $300. 4/29/2020. *** " I would like him to return my $ 200 deposit. Unexpectedly he came to the house on May 2,2020 asking if I will have the roof fixed. I replied " No. ". He left without giving me back my money.

Refund I would like *** to return my $ 200 deposit since job was cancelled due to misrepresentation of work he was going to do. Initial discussion involved putting metal sheet between the wall above the roof and the roof and applying tar to seal off water. Subsequent discussions point to him just covering the hole ( where, what, how big or long we don't know because he never inspected the roof ) . He just looked at the little water mark in the dining room ceiling .
mailed me a check with just my last name. The bank said it must have my first and last name for them to accept the check. I asked *** to replace the check and pick up the invalid one. He has not done so and insists his check is good.
He is very difficult to deal with because he keeps lying and changing his mind. Please requst him to mail me a check with my full name for $200.00.

As I stated on May 22, 2020 to Revdex.com , the check mailed by *** to me is not good because it must have my first and last name as payee. Per the bank, this check could belong to anyone with the same last name. Thus they will not accept the check without the first and last name. I explained this many times to ***. The check is not valid . He should either give me $ 200 cash or replace the check that is acceptable to the bank.
