Wood Chevrolet Plumville Inc Reviews (2)

Review: Wood Chevrolet did repair on 3 recalls on our 2005 Chevy Cobalt. Drove car home after work was completed. Approximately 10 minutes after car was turned off. Car did not start and key could not be taken out of ignition. Called woods to inform them that the car would not start and key could not be removed from ignition. Woods sent truck and took car back to shop. Woods informed me that lights were left on and had to jump start and charge battery.

I was charged $112.80 for towing and charging battery. Batteries do not go dead in 10 minutes when lights are left on.

Front worked before recall work was performed by Wood. Not working after recall work was done. Speedometer worked correctly before recall work was done. after recall work, speedometer starts at 65 and goes up with increase in speed. Google search on speedometer issue reveals that jumping this make and model of Cobalt may cause the indicated speedometer problem.

When I called to tell them the car would not start, they should have asked me to see if the battery was dead by trying the lights instead of taking the car back to the shop and incurring a towing bill. Representative of Wood said they are not responsible and will not do anything about these issues that appeared after they worked on the car. Representative of Wood made fun of my request to resolve these issues saying "next you will be asking me to fix problems in your home ..."Desired Settlement: Void the bill or at least reducing it, and fixing the issues that surfaced after they worked on the car.

Response:

In response to [redacted] Mr [redacted] dropped his vehicle off 10/12/15 and we did three campaigns early on that AM on RO [redacted]. The car sat for three hours and we delivered the car to the customer. The owner brought our employee back to the garage in his car. Later in the PM customer called and stated the key would not come out of the ignitionand it would not start. Since one of the recalls was for ign. switch, we dispatched our tow truck and brought the vehicle back to our repair shop. After diagnosis of vehicle we found the battery was dead and someone left the headlamps on. We charged the battery and called the customer. The customer is upset with our repair facility because we did not tell him to jump start the car? Then later in the same day called and told us the speakers were not working. Then later on the same day called and said the speedometer was not working. Later the same day the customer called and said send the bill as the insurance man told him he had coverage for towing. None of the recalls deals with speakers, speedometer of use of battery. We did nothing to cause any of the problems that Mr [redacted] Is experiencing with his car.Sincerely,[redacted], Dealer

Review: I am a person with [redacted], a connective tissue disorder, which includes poor circulation. This is a small town,so everyone is aware of my condition, esp. wood 's. I was returning home from an errand after work and the car began to shake and miss. I stopped at Wood's and asked them to repair the car, i.e., make it drivable and so that I would not become stranded in the cold winter weather. At first we thought it was a motor mount. I was asked to return the next, which meant that I would have to drive the car another 1/2 mile or more. I drove down the next day and got a call that they fixed it by replacing the spark plugs. I would have thought that they would have test driven it, apparently not. I picked it up the next day, Saturday. I stopped at the local post office, and then took it for a test drive of 2 - miles. On the way back, it began to misfire again, especially when climbing hills. I returned to Wood's and said nicely that the car was not fixed and that I needed it to got to some medical tests in a nearby town. The same man that schedules work and who had just taken my money for the attempt at repairs less than an hour before, [redacted], told me that they don't "have access to electrical parts" and told me to take the car to a garage in Dayton, PA, which is 12 miles away. Driving a misfiring car in the winter time with bad circulation is risky, at best, it is physically and mentally not an acceptable alternative for some with [redacted]. An odd note is that after I picked up the car from Wood's and before I returned there, I saw [redacted] at the post office and he asked me "If I was cold" and then laughed. I dress in layers and knew that I was going to have to walk up a short driveway to check on a house that I watch. Not sure if there is a connection there. At no point was I angry or impolite, so I see no reasons why they refused to take the next step in car repair.Desired Settlement: A refund of the labor and the cost of the labor to fix the car.

Ref: Customer Complaint ID [redacted] -[redacted] In response to the customer:

We made an appointment for the customer to check his issue of a shake or vibration in the car. We first checked the motor mounts and found them to be OK. We checked for trouble codes and it indicated there was a miss-fire on cylinder #2. We checked the spark on the wire and it tested OK. We removed the spark plugs and found them to be corroded and burnt. We replaced the spark plugs and took the car for a test ride. We only took the car for a short ride because we had several inches of snow that day. No engine miss was present. We called the customer to pick the car up. In the letter the customer stated he had driven it several miles before the miss returned.

When the customer returned stating he had the same issue, we recommended he take it to a garage that had the proper equipment to diagnose a Ford vehicle with an electrical problem, since we are a GM dealer. We thought we were being very fair to the customer to advise this and it was explained to him why.

The first repair was definitely needed regardless because the spark plugs were bad and the car had over 223,000 miles. Considering this we do not feel a refund is justified.
