Woodbury Ski Area Reviews (1)

Review: The conditions at the Woodbury Ski area are unsafe. My family (including children) experienced injuries. Specifically, we were crashed into repeatedly by people tubing down the mountain. Woodbury Ski took no action to prevent its customers crashing into each other. I personally alerted Rod Taylor, the owner, to these conditions, and he did absolutely nothing. Customers are made to wait in line at exactly the same area where tubers come down the mountain at high speeds. In the lodge, my daughter burned her hand on the exposed oven which is right in the center of the room, accessible to everyone, with no signs or warnings. I was told by Woodbury staff that my daughter was the fourth burn that very day. Clearly, Woodbury staff and owners know or should know of these conditions. The other issues are minor in comparison to the physical injuries we suffered, but I will list some of them: customers pay for a certain block of time, but are then made to wait to get equipment because of one staff member for dozens of customers. Meanwhile, the time that we paid for slips by. Also, there is no guidance or staff at the top of the mountain, where customers are overcrowded. There is no staff providing direction or assistance. The Revdex.com should also take note of the many complaints against this business. Note, for example, reviews on Yelp ("dangerous"... "money taking scam"... "I really am concerned that more people will get hurt at this place. Enough is enough."). Note also reviews on Google ("a lawsuit waiting to happen"..."Needs some SERIOUS safety issues addressed"). Note also the lawsuits against Woodbury ski; see, for example, NBC Connecticut television report, Feb. 21, 2013 ("Woodbury Ski Area Has Long History of Tubing Accidents"), one of various media reports regarding injuries and litigation against this business. Clearly, the injuries suffered by my family are not isolated nor aberrations.Mr. Taylor did not respond to the letter I sent regarding the above.Desired Settlement: My family spent $486 dollars, and in return we suffered injuries, burns, overcrowding and usafe conditions. A full refund would be appropriate.

The tubing runs are not unsafe! We have clearly marked signs that tell you how to use tubes responsibly and how to stop tubes safely. We have strict rules and regulations that people must follow. It is people who don't follow these rules that make it unsafe. Its the tubers responsibility to wait their turn on top, to stop their tubes at all times, and to clear the track after their done. We have personnel their to tell people this, but still their are some who do not follow the rules. We always recommend that people start of on the easy beginner trails, and work there way up to the more advanced trails.

This complaint was made Jan 31st which is on the weekend which is one of our busiest times. We recommend that people come in the morning 9-12 to avoid the crowds.

Regarding the hot stove, there is a sign right on the stove that says "Do not touch stove Hot!!."

We have one of the best tubing parks in the world, and we clearly state the rules and safety regulations for customers to follow!
