Price quoted was much less than what was charged. Damage done to my gate, no callbacks from owner of company.In June, I called [redacted] at Woodland Tree Services to grind down. Stump in my back yard. at the time he asked how big the stump was and I told him it was 12 inches. He said the job would be between $75 and $100. I was satisfied with this so I told him to proceed. He said they would come the next day. It ended up being 3 business days before anyone showed up. When the job was completed, they told my wife who was home that it would be $150 and that they wanted cash. Not knowing what I had worked out with them she paid it and asked for a receipt. The person doing the job refused. She immediately called me at work and explained the situation to me. It sounded fishy, so I told her I would call the owner the next day.When I came home from work that day, I noticed that our gate had a 4x4 post broken by the machine pushing through. I immediately took pictures and sent them to Woodland. I also put a call in and left a message, no one got back to me. About a week later, I tried calling again and was finally able to speak to [redacted], the owner. I explained the situation to him. He didn't seem to care too much about my gate, but was pretty fired up in thinking one of his guys screwed HIM over in charging me and not invoicing for it. He said he would look into it and get back to me. I confirmed he had my proper phone number and contact information.It was right around this time that we went out of country on family vacation. While away, I noticed that he hadn't called the whole time. When we got back, I followed up again and spoke to [redacted] again. He said the guy who did my job had been on vacation and he hadn't been able to touch base. I asked him why in the end it really mattered and I also expressed my concern that he had never once tried to reach out to me to give me an update. It was at this point where he got upset with me telling me that he couldn't give me an update because he hadn't spoken to the guy who did my job. [redacted]. I also pointed out that it was unacceptable that he had not, in a month, taken the time to come by my house and look at the damage.With the broken 4x4 left unfixed and a large windstorm in July, the entire 8 foot section of my gate/fence blew over.I ended up replacing it. Still no call back from [redacted]Desired SettlementIdeally, I would like my $150 back. Firstly, the job wasn't supposed to cost that much, but I also had to replace my fence as a result of the damage that was done to it.[redacted]
