DO NOT! I REPEAT! DO NOT! Use WoodStem Floral and Decor for your event. Especially in these trying times of COVID. *** and I booked a wedding at Winter Park for September. It was canceled BY THE VENUE! *** with WoodStem Floral & Decor was paid a $900 deposit by us. All she had done for us was provide an estimate. No flowers ordered, No material ordered, No time invested. When we told *** the sad news of our fence led venue, she showed no empathy but rather pointed to her contract allowing her to keep our $900.00. This was her stance until we notified her of us moving our wedding to a location 3 hours from Winter Park. At that time, she said that we could drive 6 hours round trip and get our own flowers the day before, or if she was to deliver them per the contract, she would “do her best” to get them to the ceremony on time. *** was finally willing to give us about 1/2 ($400.00) of our money back once she realized it wasn’t worth it to work with us a a venue to far away. Literally every single other vendor we worked with was empathetic of our situation and provided us a full refund. Every new florist we spoke with felt that what WoodStem Floral has done to us is unprofessional and unethical. Keeping someone’s money for work not performed is simply not right. We do not want to see any other couples go through what we have gone through. There are many other florists out there that actually care about their clients that should be utilized rather then WoodStem Floral & Decor.

Hi *** and ***,

Thank you for providing these details. I have attached the signed contract/agreement between WoodStem Floral & Decor, *** and ***. The contract clearly states at the beginning of the agreement that the retainer is non-refundable. Further down the contract it also states that WoodStem Floral & Decor is not responsible for any type of Act of God and or Natural Disaster which would include virus or disease such as Covid 19. You also initialed that you read the contract and understood that to retain my services for your wedding date that the retainer was non refundable. I understand the frustration of *** canceling all the weddings scheduled for 2020 due to Covid 19. In light of the Covid 19 situation I offered to book another date into the future for you. I also offered to drive to Colorado Springs to provide flowers for you there. However, every option I provided you didn't like or you found fault in the option. At the end of the day it was clear there was no way I was going to make you happy and be reasonable during Covid 19. No one asked for Covid 19 to destroy everyone's year, or their wedding plans and I know as a wedding industry vendor I certainly did not want anything like this to happen. I am sadden by the idea that you contacted the Revdex.com about this situation. Per the signed agreement/contract I did not have to refund any of your retainer but decided the best option was to offer you the $400.00 refund. In your eyes you might not think I did any work on your wedding but the truth is that I did. I guaranteed your wedding on my calendar and therefore took on no other weddings that day. I responded to numerous emails asking questions and also advice. I provided several estimates to get the flowers within the budget you wanted for flowers. Even though we will never see eye to eye with this decision. I do wish you both the best day ever for your wedding day.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:WoodStem Florals “option” of bringing us our flowers was, “I will do my best to get your flowers there on time”. So our option was use WoodStem Flower and hope they show up on time. Or eat the $900.00 retainer and go with a different Florist closer to our new venue. How is that professional service? Only after we notified WoodStem Floral of a new venue 3 hours away, *** was then willing to give some money back. As far as “time invested”, *** gives estimates at no charge prior to contracts. That’s a cost of doing business. We noticed *** at initial notification that we would be willing to compensate her for her time. $501 for writing up a contract and sending a few email communications is not reasonable. Although every other vendor has provide full refunds, we would accept $200 as a reasonable fee for *** time invested in us. Just like *** said in her comment “no one asked for Covid to destroy everyone’s year or their wedding plans” we did not ask for this. We did not ask for someone to treat us so badly and not even consider fair payment. We are people...people who were forced to make multiple changes to their wedding and she treated us strictly as business. It saddens us that *** could not see past her greed and feel for us and the sadness we have been struggling with since May. We understand the contract and what we signed but we wishing she could have found it in her heart to come up with a reasonable payment rather than causing us even more heartache.

Regards

Hi *** and ***,

I have attached the signed
contract/agreement between WoodStem Floral & Decor, *** and
***. The contract clearly states at the beginning of the
agreement that the retainer is non-refundable no matter what circumstance may arise. Further down the
contract it also states that WoodStem Floral & Decor is not
responsible for any type of Act of God and or Natural Disaster which
would include virus or disease such as Covid 19. You also initialed
that you read the contract and understood that to retain my services for
your wedding date that the retainer was non refundable. I was kind enough to refund you $400.00 of a NON REFUNDABLE retainer. Per the signed agreement by all parties, I did not have to provide any type of refund. I provided you several options for your wedding flowers including delivering them to Colorado Springs. However you kept badgering me to give you a refund so I did. The contract/agreement clearly states that the retainer is non-refundable but I was willing to provide a refund. Out of all the options I provided, you ultimately chose the $400.00 refund. I did put time, energy and resources into your wedding. Again to secure your wedding day on my calendar you must provide a non-refundable retainer, this is very clear in the signed agreement/contract it is the first sentence in the first paragraph of the agreement/contract.

It was very clear from the beginning that you did not want to work with me once you found out that *** was postponing all weddings from 2020 to 2021. You said that you would take me down and make sure that my business would be tarnished if I did not refund your money. Here are your exact words "It is not desirable for us to tarnish you or your business in the public eye or the court of law, nor, hurt your business with legal expenses, however, we WILL fight for what is right. Our hope is that we can resolve this conflict amicably without having to take drastic measures."

I am not affiliated with *** and can't control the decision they made based on the circumstance at hand Covid 19. You chose not to postpone your wedding with *** but move it to Colorado Springs instead knowing your contracted florist was in Winter Park. Again I was more than happy to provide flowers to you in Colorado Springs. However you choose the option for the refund.

I wish you and *** the best wedding day ever!

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
m rejecting this response because:*** and I are not incompetent people. We know how to read a contract. We are not questioning what we signed. We are , however, challenging the humanity of *** and the business ethics of WoodStem Floral. This situation is not our fault. The handling of our relationship with WoodStem flooring by *** is unprofessional and unethical. Because this contract does not specify situational cancelation, would *** keep our money that she did not earn if *** or myself tragically died? Why is it that only after *** realized the inconvenience it would cause her to “do her best” to get our flowers to Colorado Springs on time, did she finally agree to return a portion of the retainer? Why is it that *** and WoodStem Floral is willing and able to “alter” this contract for people postponing their wedding, but then turning around and enforcing the contract on people that do not want to postpone or that pick a different location? Seems to me that *** is flexible on her “contract” only when it suits her. it is also very interesting to us that it would take *** days to respond to our emails, however, she is suddenly very responsive to this Revdex.com complaint. Just to add to the port business practices.Ultimately our primary goal is to be refunded all of our money. We are attempting to be ethical and pay *** for her time which we feel $200 is appropriate. If *** and WoodStem Floral is not willing to put greed and “selective” contract guidelines aside and pay us back an additional $301, then our secondary goal is to make sure that we can notify as many current and future couples as possible not to fall in the the trap of this unethical business. This will cost WoodStem Floral much more then $301.00. Regards,
Regards
