World Class Maintenance Reviews (%countItem)

I was introduced to *** T. of World Class Maintenance Inc. by Michael L. of *** Inc. Feb.2017. Mike was to do a repair on my chimney. My understanding was they work together. They would do my roof and chimney at the same time. I was told to get some estimates for the roof and they would give me a better deal. The roof and chimney could be done in one week. . Rob was to supervise the roof. I signed the proposal on Feb. XX XXXX. Since everything we agreed to was not on the proposal Rob added a few I requested. Mike and Rob said there was not time or a need to write everything on it. Mike was on the phone with Rob and me. He verbally said he would do several other things. Rob was to give me a new printed proposal with everything on it. He never did. I was pressured into signing the proposal that day in order for the work to get started and completed in a week. Rob was to get the permit the next day. He didnt get it until Mar. 6 and didnt start until 2 week
Product_Or_Service: Roof Replacement & Chimney Repair

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) "*** needs to work with Mike to finalize this. As promised, on separate papers, they need to give me: (1) 10 Year Transferable Roof Warranty (They said is already prepared) (2) 10 Year Transferable Chimney Warranty for Workmanship, Material and Labor (No problems)(Especially with stucco, paint, cap leaking, bottom edge) Mike said there would not be a time limit. However, I will accept 10 year(They said is already prepared) (3) Contractor's Final Payment Affidavit (They said they have prepared) (4) Final Release Lien (5) Final Invoice stamped paid (Even though, they owe me more money than kept; I will accept the money I retained. In our last conversation that was $300."

World Class Maintenance Response

We are sorry ***'s experience was less than satisfactory. We gave *** an estimate ahead of time to replace her roof. The proposal she read and signed states clearly "any unforeseen work will be additional." For example, any rotted wood we cannot see until we start to replace the roof, in which she needed replaced on her job. She was shown and approved anything needed additional before replacing it. A conflict did not present itself until she had to pay the bill. We did not in any way mislead or take advantage of ***. Her work did take longer than expected, because one reason: there was more rotted wood (unforeseen) than expected. We had days of 70% chance of rain, so we were unable to work in the rain. Any complaint *** had about work not meeting her standards, *** from World Class Maintenance rectified and compensated. When we tried to offer a solution, she continued to add more unjustified complaints. "Every employee trying to assist her was lying." When repeating it back to her, her answer is always " that is not true." We feel she was not truthful about alot of things. We tried to compensate her "just because the customer is always right", by repairing things not in the estimate and because she claims we broke it. When the job was completed, it passed *** and all looked great. We even sent over someone to clean her yard of anything we may have missed for an extra day. The original contract was $14,300.00. Extras were 3,620.00. Chimney repair was 1800.00. Total = $19,720.00. She paid $17,985.00. The balance due and amounts compensated were discussed between *** and the office manager from World Class, *** who sat on the phone over an hour more than once, listening to her, repeating back to her and addressing her complaints. Even ***'s attorney spoke to *** and said we have been more than fair. We tried to settle numerous times. She agreed to a few solutions, but when trying to close out this transaction "with her agreed solutions", *** made it difficult to reach her by not answering her door or phone when we tried to contact her. When asked why she agreed to this solution and can we resolve this, her answer again " that is not true." *** used her age as a reason that she felt she was taken advantage of : her being " a 72 to 80 something year old single woman" (we were told different ages.) We have never had an issue like this in all the years we have been in business in this community. Trying to align someone's character to avoid payment is wrong no matter how old you are. If she were interested in resolving this matter, she would have answered our calls or visits with the many solutions we offered her a long time ago. Instead, she has dragged this on, hoping (I am guessing from her actions), to avoid paying the bill. If more information is needed, please contact *** from World Class, who has been trying to resolve this for several months.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am dumbfounded at World Class Maintenance response. Very little is accurate. (1)The proposal I read & signed stated "Any unforeseen work will be additional upon consent of owner/HOA or property Mgr. I was not shown ANY rotted wood or anything else and did not approve anything before replacing it. (2)A conflict presented itself when work did not start on time, the first day work started and for the 3 weeks they worked. I called and texted each time I had a question or concern but rarely did anyone respond. Of course, I did not question the charges until the actual bill was presented. Before that, I did not know they were over charging me, not crediting for damage done, etc. (3)There was no reason why the work took so long except for no supervision and just not working. They did not start to work on the rotted fascia wood for 10 days and only worked for a very few days & short periods of time on it. They could have replaced all my fascia and the whole roof in a week. We were having a drought. It did not rain one day during the 3 weeks they worked. They came every day except Sun. around 7:30AM. Rob apologized to me several times about the length of time & ordeal they created. His comment was "When the cat is away the mouse will play". Rob & *** both said my situation never happened before. *** did very little to rectify or compensate for anything. He mainly intimidated me for money & threatening to put a lien on my house if I did not pay what he asked for.(5)My complaints were expressed from day one. When nothing was addressed I wrote them down and gave them to Mike. When nothing happened, I called WCM and talked to ***. At the end of 3 weeks there was a lot to talk about. Yes, she did listen and agreed to some solution but it never happened. My Revdex.com complaints explains in more detail what happened or did not happen.(6)No employee actually tried to assist me. They said they would but nothing happened.(7)I showed broken things, excess debris, pictures, etc. I did not just claim it. I proved it.(8) Yes, the roof job did pass *** - not because they finished everything promised or did what other contractors do - especially all new drip edge & clean up. Even the inspector said it passed *** what they look at - Not necessarily what really good contractors do.(9)No one came to clean my yard for an extra day. I am still cleaning up roof debris. I showed a lot to Mike & ***. I texted pictures to ***. I have stepped on rusty roof nails several times and have had to doctor my foot. Last time was Aug.6,2017.(10)I did not really have an attorney. I was referred by Area Agency on Aging from the Victim Advocate Program Dept. in regards to Elder Legal Aid/Laws. That representative called World Class Maintenance for me. She never told them they were more than fair. She told me they would not change anything and World Class only would settle on their terms. She advised me to file complaints where I could and take them to court. Six other agencies have sent me complaint forms to file with them - even Seniors vs. Crime. I really do not want to file any more complaints. However, if this does not get settled soon I will.(11)Of course, I did not answer my phone or door when I was not home or outside. When they left a message, I called back.(12)I never discussed my age or being single with WCM. I certainly have not given anyone different ages.(13)I have always paid any legitimate bills, I am not trying to align some ones character to avoid payment. World Class Maintenance has done that to themselves.(14)If they are anxious to resolve this, why did they wait 5 weeks to respond without a resolution offer? And the Revdex.com representative had to contact them a few times to remind them to respond? Also, more explanation about failed resolutions are in my Revdex.com complaint. I have not dragged it on They have. *** has not tried to find a resolution to satisfy this account. She said they would but nothing has happened yet. Rob was the last person I talked to first of June. More detail is in my Revdex.com complaint. I have spent an enormous amount of time and effort trying to resolve this. The money they say I own is certainly not worth the time & effort I have expended. However, I will not stop without a resolution because more than money is involved. See " Consumer's Desired Resolution" for more detail.
