First, our apologies to the homeowner for the damage to his sprinkler system. AWO (AW Oakes) was performing sidewalk repairs/replacement in the area. The problem was not the marking of the sprinkler heads, it was that it was not marked where the sprinkler system crossed the
sidewalk. On every project, the City notifies the homeowner of the need to mark any underground systems--copy attached of the notice sent to this homeowner--see paragraph 4. Neither the City nor the contractor is responsible for unmarked sprinkler lines. Also, the City Inspector talked to the homeowner prior to project start, on July 10th, and the homeowner had stated he was unsure where the system crossed the walk. On August 4th, 2015, weeks later and the start date of the project, both the City Inspector and AWO could see that the sidewalk was still not marked. The Inspector both called and knocked on the homeowner's door, but no answer. AWO's followed the house connection to the sidewalk, hand dug feet along the sidewalk, and did not encounter any lines. It was upon continuation of the project and about feet from the hand-dug area, that AWO's encountered the line. AWO's immediately notified the City Inspector, and tried to contact the homeowner, but no answer from the homeowner. The City Inspector visited the homeowner the very next morning to notify homeowner of the damage. AWO's did not hear anything else on this matter until getting a notice from the Revdex.com of the filing of a complaint. AWO's does not take this lightly, as we have never had a Revdex.com complaint against us. Unfortunately, the homeowner did not contact us directly to resolve this matter. In any case, though AWO is not responsible for the damage, AWO will, in good faith, reimburse the homeowner $to fix the lines.
