I am rejecting this response because:
While we appreciate the offer for some financial compensation, we feel this offer does not go far enough to address the issues with our homeAfter we were so unhappy with the quality of work done, we called three different painting contractors to come out and give us an assessment of the work done as well as a bid for the repair workI know Mike has taken issue with us doing this, but a group of painting contractors seemed to be the most reliable people to turn to for a professional and realistic opinion of qualityWe have attached the statements and the quotes provided by each contractorTo be clear, there were no additional contractors that came out and said that the work was done well, or even completed passably well for that matterAs you can see, they were all of the opinion that the work was of poor qualityThe lowest bid to repair the poor paint job was $ $does not come close enough to addressing that cost for this to be an acceptable offerWe are also eager to move on, but not at the cost of thousands of dollars when all the evidence supports a poor quality paint jobWe believe a more fair compromise would be that we cover the cost of the materials to paint our house and the portion for labor is refundedIf Mike is agreeable to this and we are provided with the receipts, we would be happy to send him the acceptance email requested and confirm that there will be no further action taken

The Revdex.com states….’Generally, resolving a complaint requires both parties to move from their current position to a middle ground.’ I’ve offered $with no admittance of guilt/responsibility in order to close this matter and that offer will stand. Your rejection of this offer & demanding $along with me purchasing supplies & providing you the receipts for reimbursement does not qualify in my opinion of meeting in the middle. You have provided quotes from contractors and I’ve stated before these type of ‘opinions’ are not neutral but in fact they are looking to earn your business with my company paying the bill. One contractor is not reputable in the market & claims in their opinion that we did not use Primer Rx Peelbond (we did on all bare areas as agreed) and also is claiming we created the hole in the soffit (we did not). He also claims we cannot paint projects like this in day which our business model has now done for over years across the country with terrific results. Another one of these contractors is providing a bid that includes only ONE coat and NO power wash whereby we’ve applied coats & is calculated by measuring square footage to figure out number of gallonsOur job is providing a firm base for applying new paint which we did by power washing, scraping, priming and painting. There is no guarantee of the substrate continuing to peel away afterward due to several layers of old paint existing on rough sawn cedar siding and this was discussed in the initial walk through. I’ve offered to come back and do touch ups for any application issues. I have already spent several hours myself doing this and did a walk through afterward to make sure no flaking, etcexisted. What does show however is the edging from layers of old paint and I’ve explained any sanding of these areas would create ‘flashing’ compared to the rest of the rough sawn siding. My cost was $& the next day after we finished you argued that another contractor gave a bid of $and you wanted me to drop my price to that level (after you agreed with the final walk through, made payment & then cancelled payment) which I refusedOnce again, MrsX did a walk through when 95% was completed and stated her pleasure of the job. I also heard her on the phone stating this and she had no issue making payment with my Job Site Manager. A few hours later this couple decided to call me after hours and proceeded to cancel payment and we are at this point of the situation where I’m trying to close this and move onYour ‘evidence’ of a ‘poor paint job’ is strictly opinion from those that ultimately are looking for your business. I believe I’ve provided a fair compromise and will not move further. My company is well known in the market for providing a fair price and high quality results. Kind regards, Mike

Work order: $(includes $discount)Maintenance free windowsUse Sherwin Williams Duration Exterior paint. Siding; 12gl, 2700sq ftSame color as existing.Peelbond; 2gl Medium scraping est450sq ft. Scrape/prime & paint all loose paint areasMostly on left
side.Paint front, right & left sideNO painting the rear side. Soffit, fascia & siding all same colorPaint all the same color as existingNeed 32ft ladder. Paint front porch area; spindles, 15ft railing, posts. Paint gutters same color as fascia. Siding is rough sewn cedar with layers of paint that was flaking. We power washed, scraped, applied Sherwin Williams Primer Rx Peelbond on all bare areas & then painted. I spent 3hrs myself taking care of caulking in natural cracks of some boards (no one does this), spot checked & then repainted several areas There is NOT peeling paint all over the house Unfortunately small overspray occurs at times and shingles look like they get a dusting but this will wear off I've discussed the bushes issue and if they like, I'll reimburse for the cost of bushes which I will purchase personally The existing ones will survive however There is no proof of us 'punching a hole in the eave' *** had even tried to blame us for a piece of missing paint on the garage door which we never touched When she was upset, it became clear they've had other so called 'poor quality' issues with other contractors and she admitted to it It's obvious nothing will be the way they perfectly want things We did protect all surfaces and understandably, minor things occur We also provided a smooth surface as much as possible with the layers of paint already on the home in order to give a firm base for painting They admitted to having another contractor stating they would not use Primer Rx Peelbond which helps to support a firmer foundation for the paint We DID use this.I've spoken to several other contractors myself and asked how they would handle rough sewn cedar with multiple layers of paint They have stated the same process as we took....power wash, scrape, prime, paint If we sanded these areas bare it would create a 'flashing' appearance to the rest of the siding My work history and many, many clients will prove that I'm very responsive I'm A-rated on Angie's List & Revdex.com for being a professional businessman and am able to provide testimony about my responsiveness Their claim of attempting to contact me several times and not getting a response is completely false What they did do was call me AFTER HOURS times & to leave a message how they were cancelling payment In turn, I ended up calling *** at about 9:30pm that day so he cannot deny this. They suggested that we could have done a stronger power wash to remove paint. I stated at a higher pressure we'd be ripping into the soft wood.Only options with rough sewn cedar:leave flaking paint & paint overscrape & apply primer then paint. No sanding as this smooths it out too much and then looks different than restfull restoration, which is not possible because you'd be sanding the entire area at a crazy high price or fully replacing old with new siding. We did item and provided services exactly how the work order is worded. They challenged vs coats...I explained how much paint we used based on sqfootage. They complained because of rough edges on cedar after the peeling paint was removed. We scraped, primed & painted as explained in the work order They decided to have another contractor look at the project who felt it was 'poor quality' yet I wonder if they wanted the job for repainting? What other purpose would they have for stepping in? This couple even suggested that if another contractor felt it to be lower quality that I should lower my bid. Really?! What if I have Sherwin Williams look at it and states it should be a $job....will they pay me the difference? Not. This couple will never be happy with anything they purchase. They agreed to my price whether it's $or $and services were rendered to the letter.Their opinion of 'quality of work' is that they expect the siding to look like new. I explained we can do that at a price I was also very clear in the beginning stages with *** what the end result would look like and he understood.Overall I am happy with the results and how I've dealt with this situation. I was put into a corner with a customer who had cancelled payment then tried telling me they wanted a 3rd opinion of the quality from a SW rep before making payment. What does that matter? I had to warn them of placing a lien on their home if payment was not made and this is not like me for having to deal with people like this.OTHER NOTE: I've spoken to my Job Site Manager; Dan *** Mrs*** had done a 'walk through' with Dan and the team with about 90% completion and was very happy with the results I personally heard her on the phone when I was speaking with Dan and she was happy to write a check for full payment, minus the discount
