well as on weekends regarding this project. One Sunday afternoon I tried for nearly an hour to explain costs on this job to him, including but not limited to the expense of operating a business, labor , taxes , insurance, workers comp, overhead, profit , etc. Mr [redacted] continually complained about the builder (me) making profit on various items in the course of construction of this home. As you know , I cannot build homes without covering my overhead and making a profit. This was a constant issue. Throughout the job, Mr [redacted] continued to haggle over numerous items and would ask repeatedly "can't you help me out man?" "Can't you just throw that it man?"His attitude from the beginning of this job has been quite a taxing experience on myself and my company. I apologize that the [redacted]s do not understand the building process. I have tried extensively to help them understand. I never threatened to leave the job site for nonpayment until after we had met with the president of first state community bank ( [redacted], and I built his home in 2014) and Mr [redacted] refused to pay for invoices related to work that was additional or an allowance that are explicitly stated in the contract as extras. I have paid many of these myself already in an effort to preserve relationships with unpaid subcontractors and suppliers. As concerning Mr [redacted]s claim that I refused to finish the project, he had a locksmith change the construction locks and had officer [redacted] of the cape girardeau police department call me and tell me to stay off of Mr [redacted]s property. It was Mr [redacted] that ended the job , I still had subcontractors working on the project who still have outstanding invoices. I thank the Revdex.com for forwarding this complaint and giving me an opportunity to publicly respond because Wren Homes LLC is good local builder with a great reputation and I take customer satisfaction very seriously. I've been in construction for over 25 years and I am an A+accredited member of the Revdex.com for many reasons, and I am proud to be.  I serve on the local Revdex.com board and I have recently completed the custom home construction for the local director of the Revdex.com Mr [redacted] ( and [redacted] ) . This response would be unreasonably long if I were to list all the services that I have provided at no additional cost to the [redacted]s on this job. I explained this to them upon their continued complaints and belief I was somehow overcharging them however it did not matter to Mr [redacted].  Whatever I did was not enough. He continued to request essentially free work from my company, of which I gave him quite a bit , but upon my refusal to continue " throwing in " this or that he refused to pay the bill he owes. One side note , it should be noted that Mr [redacted]s complaint does not mention shoddy workmanship or questionable quality of craftsmanship or even inferior materials , because I built them a darn nice home! So the corrective action I would like to see is for Mr [redacted] to retract his largely false complaint and pay the invoices that are due.
