Black Diamond Electric Company was (unknowingly to me) billing both myself and my neighbor for a single street light. My neighbor knew they were paying for the light. I did not realize I was also being billed for an outdoor light; until the company’s billing statement changed - listing the charge for the light from “ODL” to “Outdoor Light” on my billing statement. My neighbor had the light taken down just 2 months prior. When I went to inquire why I was being billed for an outdoor light that didn’t exist; it was discovered that I had been paying for an outdoor light (that I never requested and my neighbor was also, though knowingly, being billed for) for approximately 5 1/2 years. The manager of Black Diamond stated he would only refund me for 6 months of the 5 1/2 years that they had billed me for my neighbor’s light - which they were also paying for.
In response to the complaint from ***s I reviewed the facts according to our documentation I researched to find the facts in this situation. *** father was a home builder and he built his first house and had an outdoor light installed on the property. He later sold that house to ***. He then started building a house that his son, *** now lives in. He requested that outdoor light to be billed to this address. The billing office continued to bill *** for an ODL thinking the work order was for the new ODL and started to bill this address for the same light. *** later moved into this house.
We itemize all charges on our Electric bills. A customer can review and question any fees he has a concern about and should.
I feel ***re due some kind of an adjustment as they both enjoyed the outdoor light all those years, maybe an easy way to solve this situation would be to provide them an outdoor light for the next five years free to be shared by both.

This is the first I have been made aware the customer was satisfied with our suggested resolution. The light in question will be installed today. Mar 11 2018.
