[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Mr W [redacted] mentions that the unit the he chose and installed requires a yearly service call at the customer's expenseI would submit that he chose this particular unit to force the customer to pay for more service callsI see this as deceptive business practices I cannot believe that it is common for water heaters to begin experiencing problems within the first two years of serviceI have owned three homes with at least water heaters over the last yearsMost of them sitting in the basement and forgottenThis is the first time that I've had to experience this kind of recurring problem with my water heaterWe chose to replace our previous water heater because it was 15+ years old and wanted to replace it before it started to give us problemsBased upon the performance of our new water heater we made a mistake It is a shame that Mr W [redacted] will not stand behind his chosen product and service unless he can make a few dollars Regards, [redacted]

JUNE 28, 2015DEAR [redacted] ***,THE LETTER STATES THE SALESPERSON WAS A LAWRENCE W***,NOT AN EMPLOYEE AN WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OP THEM[redacted] HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON LABOR, HEATER WAS INSTALLED 1-11-13,ON AUGUST 6, 2014, WE RECEIVED OUR FIRST SERVICE CALLWE SENT A BILL FOR LABOR AND CUSTOMER REFUSED TO PAYBILL WAS DATED 3-19-14, NOT 15,CUSTOMER REFUSED TO HAVE UNIT CHECKED FOR, PROBLEM IF HE HAD TO PAY LABOR.THEREFORE WE DID'NT GO ANY FURTHER,CUSTOMER HAS A OWNERS MANUAL THAT STATES ABOUT WARRANTY AND HEATER BEING CHECKED AND SERVICED YEARLY, PER FACTORY SPEC'S, AT THE CUSTOMERS EXPENSEWHICH WASN'T PERFORMED, [redacted] WILL NOT REPLACE HEATER FOR PILOT GOING OUT AND WARRNATY VIOLATIONS AND CUSTOMER REFUSING TO PAY TO HAVE PROBLEM CHECKEDAS I SAID, WE OFFERED TO CHECK FOR PROBLEM, BUT HE REFUSED TO PAY,THERFORE WE CAN NO LONGER BE OF SERVICE TO THIS CUSTOMERWE ALSO, WILL NOT REPLACE WATER HEATER.THAT WASN'T CHECKED OUT, WHEN WE OFFERED TO CHECK BUT HE REFUSED TO PAY.SINCERELY,ORVILLE WOWNER

I am rejecting this response because:
Mr W[redacted] mentions that the unit the he chose and installed requires a yearly service call at the customer's expense. I would submit that he chose this particular unit to force the customer to pay for more service calls. I see this as deceptive business practices.
I cannot believe that it is common for water heaters to begin experiencing problems within the first two years of service. I have owned three homes with at least 5 water heaters over the last 30 years. Most of them sitting in the basement and forgotten. This is the first time that I've had to experience this kind of recurring problem with my water heater. We chose to replace our previous water heater because it was 15+ years old and wanted to replace it before it started to give us problems. Based upon the performance of our new water heater we made a mistake.
It is a shame that Mr W[redacted] will not stand behind his chosen product and service unless he can make a few dollars.
