deceptive, underhanded and misleading, you have days ,after initial sign up to cancel agreement, but it takes but it takes month to get your energy bill from your provider to see what your savings might beThey then send you an e-mail months later that states you are now in a year contract, that will cost you $to cancelMy co-worker who signed me up was not made aware of these hidden pitfalls and now I had to call Xoom to get this infoAfter receiving my current statement from my energy provider, that I talked with, he gave me a comparison cost with and without Xoom and discovered I was paying for a service that was unnecessaryI am on a fixed income, I served my country in [redacted] , and am disgusted with deceptive business practices that have been allowed to screw people over and take advantage of their limited income lifestylesMy resolution request, give me my $cancellation fee back and to all the others that have been taken advantage of, you greedy sacks!!!

I am very disappointed with this company! They locked me in a fixed rate and my BG&E bill is times higher than I normally pay! I live alone, work in DC, rarely home, and my bill is $200! I am furious and they WILL NOT LET ME OUT OF THIS PROGRAM!

the account was set up without my consent when I found out, I called them to cancel itbut they said I need to pay $for it I asked them why and they said because I want to terminate the contract early I never signed up for itbut they kept saying that there is no other option even though I did not sign upall they were telling me was they checked my credit score and whoever called or used their website to sign up, had utility account numbertherefore, there is no way to waive the termination fee and today called them again to pay whatever they ask me to cancel the accountthey said they sent confirmation email to mebut the funny thing is when I called them first time they had different email address and phone number so I asked them to change itbut now miraculously they said they sent the confirmation email to the right email address!!! and plus my gas bill used to me around $per monthhowever, thanks to xoom energy I needed to pay double this month because there is gas transportation fee from actual gas company and gas usage fee from xoom energy

They use the old BAIT and SWITCH I signed my Home and Business up for service at Month Locked Rate When I received my confirmation in the mail Home was a VARIABLE Rate and Business was a Month Locked Rate!
When I called Customer Service the Rep was an arrogant ***! If there rate was I wouldn't deal with them!!! SCAMMERS

deceptive, underhanded and misleading, you have 10 days ,after initial sign up to cancel agreement, but it takes but it takes 1 month to get your energy bill from your provider to see what your savings might be. They then send you an e-mail months later that states you are now in a 2 year contract, that will cost you $50 to cancel. My co-worker who signed me up was not made aware of these hidden pitfalls and now I had to call Xoom to get this info. After receiving my current statement from my energy provider, that I talked with, he gave me a comparison cost with and without Xoom and discovered I was paying for a service that was unnecessary. I am on a fixed income, I served my country in [redacted], and am disgusted with deceptive business practices that have been allowed to screw people over and take advantage of their limited income lifestyles. My resolution request, give me my $50 cancellation fee back and to all the others that have been taken advantage of, you greedy sacks!!!

Xoom has been a fantastic company we have been using them sense 2012 no complaints or problems. We started on a fixed plan and moved to a variable after the term was up and ended up going back on a fixed plan. Very friendly people work there, we are sad to not have them as our upcoming energy supplier as we are moving to a propane only area. :( the time we had was great!

the account was set up without my consent
when I found out, I called them to cancel it. but they said I need to pay $70 for it.
I asked them why and they said because I want to terminate the contract early.
I never signed up for it. but they kept saying that there is no other option even though I did not sign up. all they were telling me was they checked my credit score and whoever called or used their website to sign up, had utility account number. therefore, there is no way to waive the termination fee. and today called them again to pay whatever they ask me to cancel the account. they said they sent confirmation email to me. but the funny thing is when I called them first time they had different email address and phone number so I asked them to change it. but now miraculously they said they sent the confirmation email to the right email address!!!
and plus my gas bill used to me around $30 per month. however, thanks to xoom energy
I needed to pay double this month because there is gas transportation fee from actual gas company and gas usage fee from xoom energy

I am very disappointed with this company! They locked me in a fixed rate and my BG&E bill is 3 times higher than I normally pay! I live alone, work in DC, rarely home, and my bill is $200! I am furious and they WILL NOT LET ME OUT OF THIS PROGRAM!

I have been with Xoom Energy for a while now and I have nothing but positive things to say. Great rates and great customer service!

Changed my service without speaking to me and no consent to do so!!

We have been a customer of Xoom Energy for over 17 months and have had an excellent experience. Not only is our rate extremely competitive, but we have the lowest bills we have had in three years. The renewal process was easy to do online, the online bill payment is easy as well and we love the fact that everytime we pay our bill a hungry child gets fed in the United States through the local food bank. Outstanding company and outstanding customer service.

My hope in writing this review is that it might be of service to those considering Xoom Energy. This review is from my experience living in [redacted], so it may differ from others in different states. For some, it may legitimately save them some money in their gas bill. That turned out not to be the case with us, partly because we receive a discounted rate with [redacted] Gas.

This paragraph's purpose is to help determine if you will actually save with Xoom Energy, at least living in my area. [redacted]'s gas bill charge is comprised of costs for transporting gas to our home and the costs of the actual gas itself. After doing much research following receiving my first bill from Xoom energy, I learned that the transportation costs comprise more than half of the charge we get on our bill and, when the therms exceed baseline rates, transportation costs comprise 2/3rds of my bill. This is important to consider, since Xoom Energy is offering to outsource just the cost of gas itself. That ends up taking out a lower chunk of cost from the bill than I initially assumed. To really find out if I saved money using Xoom required some serious math. First, I had to subtract the rate on my new [redacted] bill (with Xoom taking the gas resource bill) from the old rate in which [redacted] took care of everything, using numbers I averaged over the last 7 months of my gas bill, since the rate does fluctuate minorly. This new number helped me to understand the average rate I was getting over the year just for gas (not transportation), from the hottest time to the coolest time of the year. Now I had a number I could compare with Xoom's rate. My [redacted] rate came to be around $.32 per therm (a CARE discount rate), compared with the Xoom plan I was getting, which turned out to be $.33 per therm (the $22 for first 65 therms) and $.61 per therm charge after baseline. Obviously, the [redacted] rate is better. I then compared the [redacted] rate to the TruEco 12 rate, and my [redacted] rate came out slightly better, with only a dollar or two difference per month, depending on the time of the year.
Conclusion: you will probably get a better rate with Xoom Energy's TruEco12 if you do not have the CARE discount with [redacted]. If you do, [redacted] may be better.

Why I list my experience as negative, however, is because I had to discover all of this myself, after a lot of research. The sales representative who presented the Xoom offer to me did not properly explain to me what goes into the gas bill costs. Even though he did say that the taxes and transportation costs would still come from [redacted], he didn't explain to me that those costs would be more than half to 2/3 of the gas bill I currently received and had in front of me. Moreover, he did not share with me the TruEco12 plan, which would have been a better fit and closer to saving me money. Because of this, I signed up for something that actually cost me more money rather than saving me. I assume that Xoom Energy is seeking not to scam people but to help people. However, because of perhaps the lack of understanding on the part of this sales rep, this felt like I was scammed and would have suffered much more in costs for it if I didn't spend my entire afternoon getting to the bottom of this before my 30-day trial period expired.

Hopefully this helps both potential customers in the [redacted] area and Xoom Energy as they seek to help others with gas costs.
