The skimmer had been damaged by his staff and the "repair" that was made to the skimmer was not acceptable hence the reason it had to be replaced. The original scope of work accounted for a layer of gravel around the pool. We are being charged by business $[redacted] on a change order for additional gravel, which we do not appear to have received, there is still a 10'L X 1.5'W X 2'D hole excavated next to our pool. We are seeking counsel of an attorney at this time.

Review: Xtreme Structures was contracted to perform a filter sand and liner replacement, and concrete work. We began conversations in April 2015 and signed a contract on May 11, 2015, with the expectation of completion by June 5, 2015. He advised that he would have his team start work the following week. Several weeks passed and we did not see any workers. We did not realize that this would become a trend. There were multiple delays, lack of communication, blatant disregard for our requests and failure to show up when promised. His team broke our skimmer box and attempted to patch it using epoxy. When we requested that they replace it, he said that they could not. It was not until we discovered it was leaking did he agree to replace it at a charge to us. I advised that his team broke it and I expected him to cover the replacement. He did replace the skimmer after I produced pictures demonstrating when it was broken. I repeatedly requested that he smooth the bottom of the pool, he stated that it would just be pitted again when people got in the pool. Needless to say, the bottom of the pool is very uneven and will require draining to fix. When asked if anything could be done about the walls moving, he said that the concrete would "hide" where the walls had moved. Based on these experiences and an overwhelming feeling that we would be left with a pool that would need to be fixed again, we requested a dissolution of obligation on July 15, 2015.

We requested an itemized bill and were given an email that contained a flat rate per change item. Again requested an itemized bill, our requests were refused. The emailed invoice seems quite inflated, and is only $700 less than the total job would have cost. We were also charged $100 for gravel, which has not been received. At this time the pool is unfinished, one side is dug-out and the walls have moved. Our pool is in worse shape now, than before the work was started.Desired Settlement: We would like to have assistance in obtaining fair pricing for the work performed, taking into consideration the work we will need to have redone by another contractor and the work remaining.

The skimmer had been damaged by his staff and the "repair" that was made to the skimmer was not acceptable hence the reason it had to be replaced. The original scope of work accounted for a layer of gravel around the pool. We are being charged by business $100 on a change order for additional gravel, which we do not appear to have received, there is still a 10'L X 1.5'W X 2'D hole excavated next to our pool. Review: 3 main issues:

1. There a couple places where the concrete edge of pool is already cracking

2. The liner for the spa was installed incorrectly and has lots of creases and doesn't fit right.

3. Our main breaker to our house has tripped twice in the past week. We have been told that the problem may be with our main breaker but we had no problems before the pool and spa install.Desired Settlement: Fix the problems! We've been told if we want the liner fixed that we have to pay for it.

Review: We recently hired [redacted]: Extreme Structures] to pour a stamped concrete apron around our in-ground pool [poured on 13 September 2013]. There were several problems we encountered with the job he was responsible for. First he failed to inspect the work he actually sub contracted to a firm manned by foreign speaking Latinos and this resulted with us having to call him back to chisel out some concrete that had hardend into and around three sockets that are used to secure the pool ladder and a safety rail. After several attempts to contact him he did come and resolve the situation. Now this concrete has only been in for a little over one week and my wife and I discovered a major crack. This crack had formed end to end and down through the foundation of the apron. I called [redacted] and he stated "Yea, its called a hairline crack its normal we put control joints in as you can see the one right beside it sometimes it doesn't line up in the crack. There is no way to fix it and you can't fix it until it gets at least a quarter inch wide" That was it! He didn't offer to fix it and we also noticed that there was a gap in the two in pool light fixtures that has allowed foundation rock from under the concrete slab to leak into the lamp reservoir. Thus, the concrete has nothing to rest on except air! This is just an awful and carless lack of attention to detail that should have been identified if it were inspected properly. We do understand that concrete can develop cracks but after just one week, and couple this with the degradation in the foundation that wasn't caught... shows that there are serious problem with this contractor's attention to detail and a failure to stand behind his work. We paid quite a bit of money for this job and we expect all contractors to stand by their work certainly if there are serious deficiencies no more than a week after the job was completed. [redacted] is a pleasant gentleman to get along with but he can be hard to get ahold of. its just sad that we as consumers have to report this but we believe that it is a worthy complaint. We would also like to state for the public record that during the process of coloring the stamped concrete, his employees allowed a large amount of colorant to be dashed into the pool water. [redacted] told me on the spot that this could easily be skimmed out and none of it would settle in the water. No less than 12 hrs later we discovered that the colorant mixed with the water and completely dirtied the water. My wife and I had to spend countless hours and several days vacuuming and skimming to get the crud out. [redacted] "implied" that is was our responsibility to clean it...but I also know that contractors are expected to clean everything they dirty up after a job. There was no0 specification I saw in my receipt that precluded [redacted] from cleaning this major mess his men created.Desired Settlement: We expect [redacted] to repair the major crack identified in the aforementioned synopsis of the complaint. He did state that the crack must split further before a repair but after consultation with another expert in the field we understand that the crack can be "chiseled" to a width acceptable in the industry to be sealed properly. We would also like him to fully inspect the work on this job in order to identify any problems which might surface in the future. The job was done on our pool that was built on a slope, so we had to build and fill a wall that surrounds 3/4ths of the structure. We rely on [redacted] s expertise to make sure that this dirt has settled enough to form a strong foundation for his concrete work. We cannot help to think that this crack may have also been caused due the fill dirt not settling fully before the apron was poured.

Business

Response:

Spoke with [redacted] from the business. He states that the customer signed the contract that states there is no guarantee on the concrete not to crack. The company puts in the control joints to give the concrete a place to crack as to not cause damage to the structure. The customer built the retaining wall and the way the dirt settled was due to the walls construction and not the work done by the business. In regards to the dirty water in the pool [redacted] states that the concrete is set using a release powder used to release the mat cover from the concrete. The power adds additional color to the existing concrete. In order to keep the powder from mixing with the water the customer was told to turn the pump off so if the power blow from wind it would just float on top of the water instead of mixing with the water throughout the pool. The customer did not turn the pump off because he did not want algae to grow. When the work team came back the powder and mixed with the water and was difficult to clean. The customer was told how to clean it. Once the job was finished [redacted] did not collect the final check for another 4 days.
